I miss my GTO. It was the size of a yacht, but the 4 wheel steering and AWD made it so much fun to drive. To bring it back to the states, I would have basically needed to swap the entire body with a 3000GT... making it exactly the same as a 3000GT.

V6 engines sound musical, similar to guitars or horns. Sometimes, they make a perfect fifth (a common rock music sound) at the right speed.

For me VR6 wins, but not the R32.. the older 2.8/2.9 from the mk3 golf sounds better :)

To have owned many affordable cars with v6, the 2.7 litres engine from a 99-05 Suzuki Xl7 is quite memorable to me. With a oem rev limit set to 8500 and a home made short ram intake it was honestly the best sounding car i owned.

The 4.0 Ford V6 is probably my second favorite V6 sound, especially with good addons, like a high flow muffler and long tube headers.

No gm/Holden 3800 l36/l67 love? Great sounding engine. Won wards top 10 a few times and has probably been one of the most pass produced engines ever next to the sbc and sbf

The best sounding v6 I ever got to work on was a Detroit diesel v6 supercharged 500ci two stroke. A two stroke diesel will rev to the moon! Sounds awesome! It was in an airplane tugger. 3 speed trans, top speed of about 40mph. For how big it was it got moving pretty good.

One tiny detail to correct, Busso V6 was never OHV, the first engines were OHC. The camshaft pushed on the intake valves directly, while the exhaust valves were operated by small push rods. It was so to make it a crossflow design rather than reverse flow even with single overhead camshaft.

I own a MK4 VW GTI w/ the 24v VR6 and it sounds even better in person than it does in this video!! Nice to see my baby gettin’ some love though!!

i have driven an r32 with the vr6 engine. honestly it sounds amazing and i am a v8/diesel guy. i almost bought the car just because of how amazing it sounded. didn't though cause the dealership had it priced too high. i think the jag had the best sound out of all of them

The best V6 here is the Alfa Busso. I love the GTR, it is a phenomenal car and engine, but the Busso has a TON of racing pedigree in europe, and it's the best built of the lot. Bulletproof internals, a good water pump design, and all the fizzes, crackles, and pops you'd expect out of an Italian, and those GORGEOUS chromed inlet pipes.

My 98 Riviera (GM 3800 Supercharged) sounded pretty sweet. Stock exhaust sounded better than any aftermarket. Loved watching the oil pressure drop to 0 at high revs at 3:50. Also loved the hyperflash...

3.2 V6 24valves Busso engine is the best sounding engine ever. The Pride of Alfa Romeo. Shame that Busso construction is no longer maintained. Unlike the new low-capacity turbocharged engines, here we can hear true power :) Oldschool one.

The VQ35 is just a masterpiece and I’m surprised it’s not on here. It just has that special low rev growl and that sound when it gets past 3k rpms is just orgasmic.

any particular reason the Ford 3.7 Cyclone didn't make the list? came out with 305hp and 280 trq, depending on exhaust configurations could sound very exotic. shame it was only really used in the Mustang, there is also a European car that is built that uses the engine as well...cant think of it but it was featured in Top Gear (the proper British version, not the cheesy sold out American one).

The Honda NSX V6 was so sweet music and by far the best. The Jaguar 3.0 V6 just sounded like fake england sh1t and was by so far the worst.

i don't really like modern v6 engines, hate injections and turbo's it kill so much the deep sound, but a old v6 block from typically mid 70's with carburator, fucking love it

Another good V6 was the 3.8L V6 turbo in the Buick Grand National. 87 is nest year because the boost went from 7 to 14 PSI I knew someone whose dad had one and it was fast as hell.

Clio v6 had good sounds like NSX... but for me Nissan 350/370Z/GTR, VR6 and Alfa busso is my favs V6s
