I'm saving this to my favourites, there was a few I hadn't heard of and I'm going to try. I like the soap scum one, I spend a small fortune on a tile cleaner for that. Thanks Melissa as always! 🤓☝🏼Now can you tell me where to find more rubbing alcohol please?? 😁😂😂😂
Important tip for Hygrogen Peroxide- hydrogen peroxide is light sensitive, so if you put it in a clear bottle it will quickly lose its efficacy and turn into water. This is why they sell it in dark brown plastic bottles. You can use it in DIY recipes by using an opaque spray bottle (dark plastic or metal) and it will stay effective for around 6 months.
Soap scum remover. I'm still amazed at how easy that works. I've wanted to make hand soap (especially now), but can never remember to look for Castile soap.
I was on board with the 3 wave system from the start but it took me a while to be convinced about making my own products.... Now I can't believe I didn't start years ago! I was blown away by how incredibly well dish soap,& vinegar cleans the shower in particular. I also love cleaning my kitchen sink with bi carb. I could give myself brain damage with the face palm I feel coming on over wasting money (and plastic bottles!) for so long particularly for the general purpose solution of a little dish soap in a bottle of water. I feel so smug everytime I remake and refill my bottles now. Thank you clean my space! 💜
I've been using most of these recipes for over a year now thanks to this channel. I use the all purpose cleaner, shower spray, laminate floor, and vinegar fabric softner(my favorite especially for towels) on the daily! I love knowing its safe around my family and saves $$$!
@@saharrafiei3431 I feel they do. I will clean all my surfaces including the bathroom with this spray. Then I sanitize with an alcohol solution. Though it is a strong vinegar spray I like to add essential oils but you don't have to. And for stuck on stings like pans I'll sprinkle baking soda then spray with the vinegar solution. It bubbles up and comes off easily. And adding plain vinegar to my laundry makes my towels soft without all the fuzzies or soapy feeling. I mean it doesn't hurt to try and see if you like it.
@@saharrafiei3431 I'd forgot to mention that I don't use the same exact things as she does. For my all purpose cleaner I now use 1/2 vinegar, 1/2 water, few drops dish soap and this has been working great for me. Good luck and I hope you try a few.
This video was made a long time ago but I'd like to clarify something I saw in the comments that concerned me initially. YES, tea tree and many other essential oils CAN be toxic to your pets and even yourself. HOWEVER, this is only when directly applied or ingested orally without diluting it heavily. Based on how much water is added here, I'd say it's diluted plenty, but please do your own research before throwing around things like "ESSENTIAL OILS ARE TOXIC". So is soap people. Use the recommended amounts and do your research.
I’m about saving money this year. This video comes very handy I wrote all the cleaning hacks and will be using them soon. Thanks and May God bless you.
Thumps up for Riley! I've made the CMS APC (all purpose cleaner), counter cleaner, shower spray, wood floor cleaner, laminate floor cleaner, soap scum remover, and room deodorizer for about 3-4 yrs now. A couple are slightly modified for preference. Love them! Thanks so much!
Just a word of caution: If you have cats and/or dogs, be careful of the use of products with essential oils. This goes especially for lavender - sadly since it's a nice smell to me as well as a nice natural relaxant... Many thanks for all the recipes! Will be sure to put them to good use!
Tea tree oil is toxic to dogs and cats... it's fine to clean with it (it has great antimicrobial properties), but never use in a diffuser if you have pets and make sure they can't get at it.
@@kck9742 I was wondering if I could use them in diy cleaners. I don't diffuse essential oils or use them to deodorize. Would it still harm them if I make a all purpose cleaner with essential oil for instance, and sprayed it on surfaces. Would the spray linger, and cause harm to my cats? I want to use them for antibacterial, and antimicrobial purposes. But don't they leave behind a slight scent after cleaning and wiping? I know Melissa has a cat, and seemingly doesn't have issues.
@@usernameisunavailable8270 oils will linger on surfaces and can get stuck to your cats paws easily, i would avoid using essential oils to clean counters that cats get on as menthol oil among many is toxic to pets. If youre looking to make a cleaner go for a simple mix of water and citric acid which you can get on amazon or anywhere else its very common and safe which is why it's used in a lot of bathroom cleaners. Sodium hydroxide is also used very diluted in water but is more hazardous to prepare so id stick with the very safe to handle citric acid powder dissolved in water (1 tsp per liter is plenty), keep in mind this is a great safe cleaner but it does not kill covid-19. As we know only sodium hydroxide, bleach, alcohol and ammonium cleaners are approved to kill the virus so stick with those cleaners for tasks that require them.
Love this - thank you Melissa! I became aware of toxic ingredients in household & personal care products way back in 1998 & have been DIY'ing ever since! I will incorporate some of these recipes. Which one do you use for a tile floor cleaner? Your daughter is adorable!💖
I started using your counter cleaner recipe a few months ago. It shines my quartz countertops beautifully. It also does an amazing job on my stainless frig and microwave. I have eliminated two very expensive cleaners that were recommended when we had our kitchen remodeled. Thank you so much!!
Reiley is such a cutie. I love DIY cleaners. They work just as well, if not better than any of the stuff you can buy at the store. This is a very timely video. Thanks.
Lisa bronner made a recipe for home made all natural soft scrub. I switched to that and I love it!! It's good for toilets especially. It's pretty much just water, bronners soap, vinegar baking soda and some lemon(or other) essential oil if you want.
what a cutie patutie Riley is!! :) this speech language pathologist notes that her language is coming along quite nicely! Y'all are such great parents. Oh, and thanks for updated DIYs. I have been using the basic one for years, but it might be time to up my game with some others.
Could you make a video on how to clean kitchen cabinets made out of wood? It’s hard to get the grime from the edges and when I use Pledge, the shining never lasts. Help!
My friend saw my Clean My Space book and asked to borrow it, unfortunately just before the lockdown... so thanks for this video! Any recipes I don't have written on the bottles, I have to look up. Mostly I write them on the spray bottles, but I don't like to do that on the hand soap.
Hi Melissa....really appreciate your recipes....my only concern.is ...are there any surfaces that you can't apply some of these cleaners. I have a granite countertop and worried it might strip it. Thks
Your daughter is the absolute sweetest!!!!! BTW, I FINALLY ordered your cleaning cloths, and they are BEYOND AMAZING!!!! So different than the cheap ones I ordered off amazon. I can’t believe how they buff stainless steel, OMG! Seriously, so worth the price!!! How did you do it?!!!!
I've used your recipes for a few years, now, and have modified some to suit my own concerns. I added a cup of rubbing alcohol to my kitchen counter cleaner to sanitize. I also use it in the bathroom. It's probably my most-oft-used cleaning product, and it has saved me a fortune over the cost of commercial products. And I do thank you for that! Still haven't made hand soap, but next time I run out, you can bet I'll be replacing it with your formula.
💌Thank you for the cleaning recipes, I had to make the hand soap first, I was trying a recipe and it needed the almond oil, castile soap, distilled water and I added lavender oil
Hi there. Love your channel! Quick question - the All Purpose Cleaner and Counter Cleaner are the same thing- same ingredients? 2 cups water, 1tsp dish soap, 10 drops essential oil - tea tree
1st Riley it's quite the little princess bless her heart she's gotten big, still remember pregnancy announcement 😍. Thank you on tips was running low on shower cleaneds but I've got this ingredients at home🤗 thank you!!
It would be really interesting to know the reasoning behind the recipes. For instance, why is the recipe for hardwood floors different than laminate? Why usuallay rubbing alcohol, but vodka for room spray?
Melissa, I just adore 🥰 all of your videos!! I have been following you since you started. I tried to go to your website to buy your cloths, but they are ALL SOLD OUT! When will you get more? Thanks!
I've watched your videos since 2015 or 2016 ... and just now happened to see the thumbnail with your daughter and I was like áwwwww....´ . This video also helps a lot with the DIY stuff.. thank you!!!
You are the best 👌 so down to earth 🌎 ❤ and laid back teaching you're amazing 👏 keep doing what you do you're helping so many people 💖 💙 like me get a better attitude to cleaning from a chore.... to something a bit more interesting 🤔 amen 🙏I'd say that's a gift many thanks I appreciate you 😊
I remember your first video I saw for you ( how to clean grouts ) and then it was the begging for me to watch your video, which are really helpful and based on knowledge and experience ,, you are one of the RU-vidr I really appreciate her effort , I wish you the best❤️
I love this! Thank you so much! Can you do a video explaining how these ingredients work? For example, I don’t understand why there is cornstarch in the window cleaner.
What can I use on latex painted walls as a cleaner for grease in my kitchen wall and vent? Also my restroom walls have latex paint too I live in a rental so don't want to mess up the paint. Our floors are vinyl can I use one of the floor cleaners you mentioned or no?
I use a really diluted dish soap mixed in warm water on my walls with a soft wash cloth (like a bathroom towel instead of kitchen rag feel) so it doesn't tear up the paint, but breaks down the grease spots well. The vent can be removed and washed in the dishwasher. Or soak it in vinegar. I use a floor cleaner solution like what she mentioned on my vinyl floors.
I have "engineered quartz" countertops and "engineered marble" in the bath. Some websites say not to use vinegar on either of these. Can you advise? Thanks-have been watching you for a number of years and find your advice so helpful.
I’m not sure what my bathroom counter is made of but the vinegar ruined it. There are spray marks like little dots and ring marks probably from the bottom of a wet spray bottle. The counter always looks dirty now ☹️
Hi Melissa! :) Do the cleaners have a shelf life? Also could I just use tap water instead of distilled water? Could I substitute dishwashing soap for castille soap?
I can't get enough of them! I tweaked the soap scum recipe with less dishsoap, added water in a spray bottle... I use it in the sink... did you know that oil doesn't attach to the sides of the sink any more? I'm amazed!
OMG!!! I have always loved your channel and your videos. I have been following you for years, but have been on a sabbatical. I can not believe how big Riley is! so happy to see you are well! =)
I use the all purpose for pretty much everything now, all my surfaces, sinks, floors cabinets etc and kick myself I spent so long repurchasing bottles at the shop 😤 I use it for the toilet but have old rusty pipes so find I need a generous sprinkle of bi carb in the actual bowl to help get rid of those marks.
