Yayyyy! Wow Cathy, 23 lbs so far. You look great and your tips are awesome. You've inspired me, so I started losing and even walking. Slow and steady wins the race.
Great tips! I've only lost 6 lbs since the first of January. But I've dropped a pant size, and can wear anything in my closet. That's a win. Even if I only lose 1 lb. a month, by the time I visit my physician next December, that will be a 12 lb. loss and she will be happy~
Thanks for another great video with some very helpful tips. I was doing pretty well till last week when I had two frappachinos. At that point I got disgusted with my self and then became obsessed with all the things I "couldn't have" It was pure madness!! but I got thru it and I just try to think nothing is off limits just try to save as a special treat or substitute. The act of total denial sent me into a fenzy!!
Congrats! I don’t have a problem with drive because I do think all of the food is crap. I don’t drink soft drinks because I don’t like the carbonation so that’s not a problem. Most of the grocery stores baked goodies look so nice but I know they taste like crap so I don’t waste my time eating those. My problem is fine dining which I can’t afford often so that’s good. Then there’s a good old cheesecake factory. One slice of cheesecake can wipe out a whole day worth of calories so that is some thing I tell myself will be on a very rare occasion. Heck, I used to eat that on top of their high caloric foods. I do a good healthy protein shake in the morning, protein &veggies in the afternoon, Greek yogurt with berries and nuts for my evening snack. I usually don’t eat dinner. Purchased a mini trampoline and do that most days plus some free weights.. so far I’m down 26 pounds. This is the first time I’ve been able to actually lose any weight on my own. I had years ago but had to have it taken out because of health issues. Of course I gained the weight back, so I am thrilled that I’m able to lose it now without any gimmicks. I also tried the high protein low-carb diets, the 1200 cal a day diet and all the other fat diets which didn’t work for me. I find that I try to eat more healthy foods now and a variety of them but still my caloric intake to around 1500 to 1600 per day. So far that’s working for me and I’m not getting very hungry. I think everybody needs to do what works best for them. I enjoy all of your tips and use a lot of them myself. Thank you for sharing.
Cathy I just want to tell you that you have become my favorite on RU-vid! You are so down to earth and practical. And you are obviously "you" with no pretenses. Very refreshing and enjoyable. Plus all of your advice is spot on. Just wanted to come on here and let you know! P.S. I'm 74 and still need your tips LOL
Congratulations Cathy, you’re doing awesome! I’m working on my own journey and even though it’s slow going, it’s happening. I’m so grateful that my clothes aren’t tight anymore. It’s the small things🥰
Great tips. I have 100 pounds to lose. I’m two days in to healthy walking plan with you. And I have to go slow and steady. I know it didn’t go on overnight it’s definitely not going to come off overnight. I’m focusing on healthy food and the walking challenge. Thank you for sharing with us. I appreciate the support. 🙏❤️
Also love your nail color at the moment. At the end of the month of our walking I’m going to treat myself to a manicure. Would appreciate the color nail. Thanks so much. 🙏😊
I got the giggles on the drive-thru as a "quick fix". I can make a café au lait at home in less than 10 minutes, but I don't have an espresso machine, fancy sweetners, or a batista who knows me by name (I am an extrovert, human contact matters). So twice a week I drive through our local indie, Joe To Go. That adds about 10 minutes to my commute if there are 2 cars ahead of me. Last Saturday on my way to an event, I decided to treat myself to a third latte. The car line was so long alone would have that I would have had to add 30 minutes to my commute time and be willing to be late.😅
I can see your waist indentions now, Cathy! 🎉 Congrats Also, We have an upstairs that I have to put Pixie in, or he’ll keep me up all night and then he’ll sleep all day! He actually comes and asks me if he can go to bed now! And have you been taking your measurements once a week? You’d be surprised how fast the stomach & hips go down. Enjoy your day🎉
Cathy that pink polo shirt is lovely on you. I’m trying to be realistic in my goals too. I was setting goals as if I were in my 30-40s and I am 61. 🥴You have helped me so much, I have learned the importance of protein. I have learned I need to forgive myself when I mess up and emotionally eat too. Thank you Cathy.
This is so good. So many helpful tips and many really resonated with me. (Your cat is such a cutie... and of course, he can sleep all day when you can't!!) I appreciate the concept that we aren't sprinting to a finish line where we haven't taken the time to develop new, healthier habits. Taking the time to do it right might seem slow and frustrating at times, but new habits take time. You are doing great...it has to be so encouraging! I also appreciate your encouragement to all of us, and that has helped me keep going with the walking. This is such an uplifting channel!
These are such great tips!! Thank you for sharing them! You really can see how much healthier you are looking; that is also an inspiration. Congrats on all your progress! Prayers for you and your husband.
Your Buddy and my Shelby are two peas in a pod! She gets under the covers and sleeps beside my legs all night. I'm sure I'm not sleeping as deeply because I'm trying not to kick her off the bed! You look great - 23 lbs. - Congratulations!
I can see the changes in your body and face! I continue to lose bit by bit. The scale doesn’t move quickly but I am doing a total of 2 hours of exercise and weight training each week and the inches are melting off. Thank you for your inspiration!
Just started watching your videos. Great inspiration. That balanced plate you're following is the Mediterranean diet. I started this a few weeks ago. I watch a lot of videos that further explain everything and it has been incredibly helpful. Keep up the good work!💪🏼
I am NOT recommending this... just telling you about what worked for a friend *on the advice of her veterinarian* so if you think it might work for you too, check with your vet first, please. My friend's dog had some disruptive behaviors which she tried to break with various training ideas. Her vet put the dog on *temporary* sedatives just long enough to break the pattern. Once the dog had spent a month with his new quieter regime, the new behavior was cemented and the sedatives were discontinued. An idea to maybe explore... a night time sedative just long enough to break the habit might be easier on both of you. Good luck.
I use 8.5 in paper plates and never go for seconds. I dont do desserts but i do have a snack around 9pm. Cant sleep if im hungry. I stay busy most of the day.
Hi Cathy! Congratulations on your weight loss! 🎉 While listening to your points in this video, I was impressed at how each one can apply to our sports and fitness journeys as well. When I began practicing a new sport in 2020, at first I didn’t have any goals, then I had too many goals and I didn’t know how to manage them. Your tips are excellent advice to anyone starting a sport, yoga, or any workout.
You're doing great! And I'm sure the weights are helping a lot even if the scale isn't going as quickly as we would have liked. I need to get that back in as a habit. I have my mile walk I've been doing steadily and I'm oozing my diet over towards what your dietician recommends. I even went out and found I could see a dietician on my insurance! She's so kind. Thanks for inspiring me to go down that path.
Hi Cathy thank you for sharing this information with us I enjoyed listening to your give us some good feedback I am still lost weight and I’m enjoying going to the exercise class thank you Cathy looking forward to seeing more of your videos ❤
Congratulations on losing 23#s!🤗 I like your tips and I’m really working on being kinder to myself and not depriving myself. You are right - it is a lifelong goal of changing your lifestyle and becoming healthier AND it has to work with your life. THANK YOU FOR THE INSPIRATION!
Off topic but!!! Did you take away your travel vlog playlist? I was just going to listen to one while cleaning the kitchen and for me, the playlist is gone!
Thank you Cathy for sharing your journey with us! Preparation ahead means success for me. I get my clothes and shoes ready the night before so I can go for my early morning walk while the coffee's brewing. I make a container of chopped veggie salad and homemade oil free dressings to eat. I choose one from a list of non food related activities so I focus on living life, not living to eat, like crocheting, playing piano, reading a book... And watching videos like yours gives me positive affirmations to keep trying one day at a time.
I have been intermittent fasting since mid July 2023. Hu iy a plateau and was dehydrated. Started exercising more, toning and drinking more water. Gained 8 lbs. Still not giving up. I tried different things and decided to go back to eating 11-6. Lost .8 of a lb. ! I'll take it. Keep going on your plan too Kathy!
Naughty Buddy! I lock my cats, Moon and Magic, in the den at night with food, water, and litter box. Otherwise I would never get enough sleep. It's bad enough with the dog in my room in a crate. I sleep upstairs far from the den with a white noise machine. 😺
That's such a good tip about you removing certain foods from your home. No matter what your addiction, it's always a good idea to remove that temptation. Mine is also sugar. If there's something sweet in this house - I'll eat it. Thanks for sharing with us, Cathy.
I have been trying to lose some weight. But I’ve had no success. Probably because I’m still taking my steroids. They just make me eat too much. I’m going to change what I eat. I need some low calorie or things that are better for me. I probably should weigh myself at the same time everyday. That might have something to do with it. I have been walking more. Or I do some kind of exercise. It was too wet outside today when I tried to walk. I only eat two meals a day. I sleep late. My daughter did ask me to babysit one day a week for my youngest granddaughter. But I’m not sure I can get up and be ready for a two year old in the morning. I know I eat too much sugar. We don’t eat that much fast food. We live in the country and we cook a lot at home. If my husband goes somewhere he will bring home something. I don’t eat enough vegetables. I have a sourdough starter. I should be able to bake bread with it in a day or two. And I’m going to do it. I’ve been trying to make it for quite some time. So this starter is doing great. And I will bake some bread. My husband is definitely not really supportive. But that doesn’t bother me. He’s not slim either. He used to be. But not anymore. I do follow someone on You Tube. It’s supposed to be for arms. I can lift weight. But I can’t lift my body weight with my arms. So I stop at that part. Well, my bladder never lets me sleep that long. I’m not sure how much uninterrupted sleep I get. Because I get up and have to go two times and if it don’t I know I’ll be right back in there in a few minutes. That could have something to do with it. Because I wake up everyday exhausted. And that shouldn’t be happening.
Congrats on your ongoing success! I recently applied your “milkshake tip” to a Kit Kat bar I was craving and it worked - easily let it go the next day. Relieved, thanks 😊
Such great tips. I remember being able to lose 5 lbs in a week - but those days are long gone, and as you said it can now take a month! 23lbs! Well done you!!!
Kathy, you are an inspiration to all. When I Try to cut back or stop sugar not only I get a headache. What did u do when u got that headache from detoxing of sugar
So wonderful. I knew it!!! You look wonderful and have been mentioning smaller sizes in some clothing. All of your tips are spot on. We can’t try all of them at once, but pick some that are attainable, just as you say, and start there.
I’m just going to rewatch this anytime I’m getting down! Thanks for the tips. I’m back on track now, but it’s soooooo easy to fall back into my sugar habits! Thanks for the inspiration!
