We all know that, apparently, clear diamonds are a girl’s best friend. The problem is, they can just be so expensive to buy! As it turns out, they aren’t the most expensive gemstones out there. Other diamonds and gemstones take that title. From a stone found in just one place on earth to one costing millions per carat, here are 15 gemstones more expensive than diamonds.

Most of those opals you showed were not fire opals. Fire Opals are mainly orange red or yellow. You showed a lot of different opals such as boulder opal, precious opal, crystal opal, white opal. Black opal should be on this list, because it's certainly a lot more expensive than the 'fake' Herkimer diamonds, that are really quartz crystal, not diamonds at all.
@nickhoward7283
@nickhoward7283 Год назад
Naw they could be fire opals could be a welo or Honduran but boulder opals which are native to Australia can have different colors but aren't given the fire opal name like the welos from Ethiopia are for example..and Herkimers are Herkimers they aren't a diamond correct but they aren't just a quartz either

I call bs on Herkimers being more expensive than regular diamonds. In fact, they're cheap, or were, back in the late 1990's, when I bought a rough cleaned one that's slightly larger than a pea for $8. And I got it in a metaphysical store that had a wide variety of raw stones in abundance. Though the Herkimer, along with amber, were their most expensive raw mined pieces of all the semi precious, & other gemstones.

My favorite gemstone that made this list is tanzanite. Whenever my budget can allow it, I invest in it. I currently have a little over 20 carats of tanzanite, no stone under .5 carats, and my collection has one 10 carat, brilliant round cut, rated by Shimansky Cape Town, New York as B-AAA+ Rare...B representing that the stone is blue dominant instead of violet dominant. I have gotten very lucky to have stumbled across the tanzanite deals i have. Love love love the stones. In my opinion it is easily in the top 5 most beautiful gemstones in the world.

I own a genuine, natural Alexandrite which turns about five colours, depending on the lighting. I won it participating in an online contest based on knowledge of jewellery, but I digress. When I went to Fedex to pick up my winnings I opened the container and the stone was a ' sapphire'. When I got to my friend to show her it was 'emerald'. When I reached home it was 'amethyst'. I've had jewellers try to finagle it from me, yet to me it is priceless! Just sharing.

There is one in a ring set that I don’t know if it’s real or not that goes from this sea foam green to purple. It’s huge maybe like 3 or 4 carts which is why I’m leaning on it’s not real. Plus the fact you usually don’t set alexandrite with smaller stones of alexandrite in a wedding setting like it is in. I don’t know something about that ring is screaming to me not real if that makes sense.

Yes, it will increase in value when the store is going to sell it to you, NOT WHEN YOU TRY TO SELL IT BACK AT THE STORE. Diamonds like cars don't retain their value. Diamonds are OVERPRICED, OVERVALUE with overly inflated markups. They'll give you, not even 20% of what you paid for. The store says they have to make a profit. The diamonds stones at a trader hands are worth nothing. They are worth for them as a stone they can deceive people to pay them a huge markup for them.

Diamonds weren't very expensive or sought after back in the 19th century. Back then, sapphires and rubies were the thing. Diamonds came the forefront through 20th century marketing. Diamonds themselves are quite common. Gem quality diamonds are not, but from what I remember, supply is artificially kept low to keep diamond prices high...in order to maximize profits.

Diamonds will continue to rise in price and the Laboratory grown synthetic diamonds will take over the lower end of the market. Sadly late grown are being pushed as environmentally better. Again people need to do their. homework. Serious homework. Not a night cruising the internet. As a past librarian and a current Gemologist of 35 years in practice.... I'm a big fan of demantoid garnets, myself.😍🥰 That bright chartreuse with neon yellow-to-green fire is not something you see every day. Quality stones are becoming even rarer and every one I've seen with any sort of color variation (from a light pale mint to a chrom diopside green) is obscenely expensive.😝🤷‍♀️

This list has to be re-examined. There are several gems, rare and expensive that belong on it: for example Alexandrite - gem rarely bigger than 5ct, color change from blue green into raspberry red without any under-colors would cost over $2M/ ct! The other stone- translucent apple green Jade, coveted by Chinese above any other gem.

I remember seeing some stones of those stones like some of those around my home in the 70s, 80s and 90s. The top soil is very little because underneath is all marla a building material that we would have to buy if we didn't have it. At times I saw stones looking like crystal a beige looking stone or salt looking one. Everytime I see these gems I always reflect on them. And I wondered if they were real gem stones.

Most likely were , check out what kind of crystals can be found in your state, I just went to the upper part of the lower peninsula & found all kinds of crystals. Maybe not expensive gemstones what you saw was most likely a variety of quartz!

In reference to the ad preceding this video.. I watched January 6th live on RU-vid as it happened and I never saw any destruction of property other than the fact that two windows got broken out and to me they were dressed like antifa people while the crowd shouted, "Stop them, antifa, stop them". I was marching in front of our state capitol that day demanding an audit before the certification as well.

Get it verified and inscribed by GIA, then a appraisal on it. Most common quality color runs about $12K, higher quality runs $35k, top is appraised separately and is regularly seen $150K on the lower end, $300K being average at current values.

That would make the most beautiful pendant, set in gold & surrounded by brilliants. Don't make it languish in a vault, make something from it. If you're scared someone will steal it, then insure it & tell people it's fake.

Herkimer diamonds are not worth more than flawless diamonds. They are just double terminated quartz crystals. The ones that have no inclusions and are flawless are worth more than run of the mill Herkimer diamonds. Herkimer diamonds are semiprecious stones. Heat treated stones are not worth nearly as much as naturally colored stones. For instance, most sapphires are clear or yellow. Heat treating them can turn them blue. The same is true of clear topaz. Any gemstone that has cleavage in several directions is going to be brittle and not suitable for anything but earrings or a pendant. Tourmaline and kunzite are good examples of this. Also you want a gemstone that has a hardness of at least 8 on the Mohs scale for rings so the stone is durable.
@vitos8594
@vitos8594 2 года назад
Blue is the standard for sapphire which is why the color is not needed to describe when stating a sapphire. While heat treating and other treatments change the quality of sapphire, it isn't a standard for color change as you would see in topaz and few others.

Here are actually beautifully colored diamonds that are found all over the world ..and colored diamonds, yellow, chocolate, pink, are worth more than colorless diamonds Moissanite is only a little bit less hard than a diamond and the clarity makes them sparkle more.
