I will say, downtown, like the D, 4 Queens those frozen drinks are terrible. Tropicana, nyny, I don’t even like those. But I do like fat Tuesday’s. It’s like a 7-11 of icees, and you can’t taste the alcohol. There’s one a the end of he strip in downtown if I’m playing there, and there’s one over at the mgm if I’m on the main strip.
@edwardsmith7276 Look at how many timeshare owners are willing to sell theirs for $1 because the yearly dues are $3k-7k. There are some that are good for upper income people who go on lots of vacations to Hawaii or Disney World, Florida to justify the cost of annual dues because hotel stays are more expensive. Timeshares are basically hotels that timeshare owners have a right to stay at for 1 or more times in a year.
We just got back from Vegas and we learned that if you stay at an MGM resort, you can use your paid parking at any other MGM resort. We stayed at Bellagio and went to MGM. Parked at MGM with no problem and not having to pay again.
The whole thing is a tourist trap anymore. $50 Resort fees $35 to park a car. 25.00 hamburgers. It used to be all those things were an amenity to get you to come to Vegas. Now they charge for every tiny little thing. Slot machines are tighter than they ever been, there's no more bang for your buck in Vegas. At least when I go to Reno they don't charge for parking, and the same is true of Lake Tahoe. Theyre going to have to make some changes to get me back to Vegas
We work for a pawn shop here in Vegas and at least two to three times a week we have people who have purchased fake gold chains or rings from people in the casino. If it's too good to be true.........then it really is.
Another scam is, walking on the bridge there’s someone with ice cold bottles of water $ 1.00 . Sounds reasonable, right? He reaches in the ice chest for the bottle of water , but before he hands it too you he unscrews the top. A curiosity ? Not even! This water is tap water he’s filled from a hose. You’ll never no or suspect till it’s too late. Just say, NO , and keep on walking.
Jaycation, you are spot on with these Scams. I was a victim of the casino not giving back the change due on your winnings. New sub here for excellent tips.
The slot change tickets is really annoying, but kind of brilliant by the casinos. Individual people aren't going to care about pennies, but casinos are raking in millions. Reminds me of the scam idea from Office Space lol
Very informative video. One rip off/scam that I have seen while in Vegas has to do with the two Outlet malls in the city, the Forum Shops & Miracle Mile Shops in Planet Hollywood. There is a group of guys (sometimes girls) at these locations that will offer to shine your shoes (especially if you are wearing popular sneakers like the Nike AF1 or the Adidas Superstar) for free using their shoe cleaner as a way of luring you in. While they are cleaning your shoes, they will tout the benefits of using the cleaner. Then afterwards they will ask you to buy the shoe cleaner which you can easily buy at other stores at a cheaper price and higher quality and/or an entire sneaker cleaning kit which costs about $30. In short what may look like a free shoe shine ends up being a $30-45 loss in buying products that oftentimes does not do what it claims to do. The best tip that I have for this if you encounter them is to simply keep on walking or say no thanks. Another rip off I have encountered in Vegas is that the prices inside the Adidas, Urban Outfitters, Banana Republic & Under Armour stores (among others) on the Strip is twice as much as what they are off the Strip simply because of where they are located. My advice is to shop at the off Strip stores of those brands instead because you will save money & find better deals.
I mean for the CNF charge at restaurants, it may not have to do with the server, but I’m straight up not tipping anything if I get hit with an extra charge.
I've eaten twice at Cabo Wabo and asked for the CNF fee to be taken off and they had no problem doing it. Just asked the server did not have to see a manager. Just my experience
For Timeshare scams, they're also right outside the M&M and Coke stores, trying to get you to a desk inside where the water massage happens. My wife gravitated to the one at the Venetian, but luckily I educated her before our trip so once they sounded shady, she opted out.
Really great information, Jay! The 6/5 blackjack annoys me so much! A great place for good blackjack rules is Southpoint. All tables are 3/2 plus the hotel seems to be vibrant and thriving. Also, Sahara has free parking. Thanks again!
2:54 I was on the Santa Monica pier with my son when a monk aproached, he gave my son a bracelet. He then showed me his book that had handwritten "prayers" and donation amounts. He wanted me to write my prayer and donate. The amounts were all $20 and more. He looked like he wanted to hurt me when I gave him $5. He tried to guilt me into a bigger dollar amount.
My mom and stepdad fell for the Time share scam in Vegas. I have heard Time Share scams even go on at the Sacramento Kings games here in Sac. Luckily, my mom and stepdad were able to get out of it
Good show. I don’t understand why people go to Vegas, especially multiple times. It’s a town basically built from the ground up to separate people from their money in every way possible. The hospitality workforce is all about the hustle, the tip, etc etc as well. What’s fun about getting fleeced while sweating your ass off walking around, or losing in bright electronic arcades, or getting drunk. You certainly are not going to meet someone that you’ll pick up unless that too is a scam, let alone someone to fall in love with. It’s like a big midway at a fair but with more money to lose. Not fun.
Never walk out of the hotel room leaving valuables laying in the open. It will not be there after the housekeeping visit. And don't let housekeeping force you out of the room early in the morning. You won't be awake and bound to leave valuables behind. You can never prove housekeeping stole your stuff.
You know what's a rip off? All carnival table games. Casino's are capping out the payouts that players can win. For example, at the Venetian, Mississippi Stud game, the max bet is $20,000. But the max payout is $150,000. So if you bet $20,000.00 and get a full house that pays out 10 to 1, You should be expected to get paid out at $200K, but they'll only pay you $150K. Total rip off.
Blondies also charges a CNF fee 4-5% in the Miracle Mile Shops. It's a junk fee that customers are not legally required to pay. Customers are only required to pay Nevada sales tax 8.375%. These sleezy restaurants, even if highly rated, are counting on customers not wanting a confrontation and just be submissive and pay. If these restaurants have higher operating costs then they should raise their prices instead of adding on ambush fees with no prior disclosure at the restaurant front entrance. Like Jay said, avoid these sleezy businesses no matter how good the food is.
All good tips. I feel sorry for folks I see take pictures with anyone on the street, showgirls, the costumed characters, whatever, because I never see them negotiate up front and watching them shake people down is depressing. I don't understand how those jobs attract people. Walking up and down The Strip in heels and half-naked then arguing with strangers doesn't seem fun to me.
We love you Jaycation, been a massive fan and follower of your vids for years, i have to say this is one of the most informative vid i ever heard, i learnt some new things from here which i didnt know before, i will definatly let you know when im in vegas, been wanting to meet you for years lol
Great Vid Jay and nice to see George too 👏 lots of timeshare people at Mandalay Bay and TI Too and as far as resort fee's go also downtown at four queen's always has no resort Fee's, BTW Laura is going to get to your room and expect another 500 bucks before you can even get her attention lol Keep up the great work and 100k is right around the corner brother 👊
My boss had a bad encounter with one of those monk bracelet guys; he had no choice but to graze closely by him because of how crowded the walkway was, and the guy literally grabbed my boss's arm and tried to force the bracelet on him! Hella weird
CD guys at carnival court out side Harrah's casino, when I refused the guy put his arm in front of me and said it's the color of my skin(black) isn't it, so it what from scam to racism instantaneously
My wife & I did the time share thing. We got reduced show tickets as well as $100 voucher for dinner. Sure it was a long day but we didn't mind. We were there for a week and needed something else to do since we don't really gamble much anyway. For us it was a win.
Obviously I've seen the CD scam and I thought it was pretty funny to run into it when I was in Vegas last time. The guys handed me and my brother each a CD and even signed it, we said cool thanks and took the CDs and continued walking. The dude rushed up to us and asked us to pay or donate and we laughed in his face and said no. He took the CDs back.. But thats how most scams go, they can ask you for money but they're just counting on your stupidity to actually give it to them
Great video, as usual. Yeah, the TITO tickets are aggravating. .37 isn't squat, but it does add up. Last year people left behind TWENTY TWO MILLION DOLLARS in ticket change. Casinos make enough $ off us at it is. You can pump multiple tickets into a slot and they might add up to the next whole dollar, so hang on to your tickets, or give them to another player on the way out. Maybe it will round out their dollar.
Good advice, I got hit with a time share scam at the Avis Car Rental Place at McCarran 2 years ago! The rep said it was a celebration for a new Hotel Opening just off the strip and we would get a $100 Gambling Vouchers, Free Lunch and Show Tickets if we went to the Sales Presentation and just for showing up! Went there and they wanted a $50 deposit, no lunch and the hotel had been there for 15+ years! Avoid these guys when you see them!
Solid video as usual my guy! I'm guessing the Time Share people are no longer on the bridge between Planet Hollywood and Cosmo or in front of the Miracle Mile cause that's where they seem to try and get me every single time.
WHAT about the Mini-fridge fee scam per night in your already PAID resort room? Resorts are charging 30 dollars a night to install and use a Mini-fridge inside your hotel room! WOW just Wow. Next thing they will charge you is to use your own toilet inside the room!! So no microwave or Mini-fridge in the rooms on the Strip. Welcome to LAS VEGAS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Was there last week. There were some teenage kids asking for donations for a football team. Was approached a couple times on Fremont street. Heard it was a scam
Great vlogs buddy, ive just returned from my stay in Vegas, could you also address the appalling issues with the escalators around the strip so many not working or under maintenance is this also a scam as it always seems to be the ones that keep people in and make leaving such a nuisance, and perhaps on some tips around getting around the strip, I ended up using Paradise vs the strip,, as the bottlenecks are crazy , merging into one lane, let me know if you agree :)
You didn’t mention the ridiculous ATM fees at the resorts. Casino Royal ATM fee is $3 my husband and I go there if we need to get money from the ATM! Also, not all timeshare people are bad I sell timeshare in Florida I own one I love it and I don’t harass people 😉
I'm wondering how is it that Treasure Island/Wynn/Palazzo able to have free parking while everywhere other casino on the strip does not? Also, do most eateries on the strip have the CNF fees?
Wow CNF is like markups at car dealerships. At least you can get it removed if you spend extra time but it shouldn’t be there to begin with. Thanks for the video. We go to Vegas a lot.
Hi Jay, great video. Thanks for the refresher course, most of these things are common sense and reminders for me. I will have to look more closely to my restaurant bills for the CNF fees. I also enjoyed watching your live stream walking in Athens it was nice.
I would just refuse to pay any additional restaurant charges that are not listed on the menu. I'll give them the exact amount in cash because they might add charges to my credit card later.
Restaurants are a rip off in most casinos because the food is actually pretty bad. No flavor, or not made well. I don't think most people would mind paying more if the food was actually good. I've been to a few and they 'expect' money and good tips for non existing service and terrible food. Funny thing is that if they actually just stepped it up they'd make more money.
The escort card itself could be a nice souvenir, I thought jaycation was going to say you need to tip the guy handing out the cards. Also, that reminded me of those vintage playing card decks with nude models on them
Mini bar in your room. All drinks and candy, snacks, etc. have sensors. Don't even touch it. I looked at stuff in my room at the Mirage, and had to go down to the checkout clerk to take $150 off of my bill! I didn't consume anything!
Hey Jay hope you’re having fun in Greece. Yes I made a boo boo a few years ago and spent like $7 for a Gatorade at the Resorts World convenience store. Darn 😂. I actually paid it when I should have walked away once the cashier told me the price.
I avoid convenience stores that don't display prices. Before I concluded that they were all rip-offs, I often walked out and just left everything on the counter. They might start showing prices if enough people did that.
I would go to a casino bar, put $20 in a machine and start playing to get a comp drink, which could be water or soda. On average that would cost less than $7. I'd rather go to the restroom and drink tap water from the sink (but not the toilet) than pay $7 for a bottle of water.
I was a police officer for metro for 32 yrs and was happy when i joined and happy when i left....stay safe and great videos...all true listen to this gentleman hes on the mark!!!!
The escort cards they hand you on the strip aren't about the escorts ripping you off. It's about the agencies ripping you off. From what I learned, if all you pay is the $50, that just goes to the agency and the escort will do nothing more than show up at your door if that's all you spend because they don't get any of it. They need to upsell to make money.
The Westgate is overstated. We've stayed there on purpose as it transitioned to the Westgate, and then after. (March 2023) No one pressured us to go to a time share presentation. Sure, when we walked by the desk promoting that, someone might have asked if they could talk to us. But declining that and pressing on with our agenda was zero problem.
That's one reason I'm glad of having a large chest (female) literally everything valuable including my phone and wallet fits in my bra. Most people don't wanna get involved or help if you're yelling about someone stealing material possessions but you can bet your ass people take notice if some random has their hand down your bra. Coming up on 33 years now without being mugged. Thieves don't see a purse so they assume i either don't have anything or that it's just too hard a mark to hit when the valuables are in an "intimate" type area
I live in Vegas and the reason I don't go down on the Strip is I refuse to pay for parking! FU if you think I will pay for parking! I hope all the Strip properties go out of business!
You need to move to Vegas 👍😻. Your Vegas videos are so popular & informative. We all love watching Vegas videos. The Plaza has 3$ Pacifica beer on hot summer days. It’s always refreshing. Try it out 👍
Once upon a time, a civil engineer who promoted music shows on the side showed me his "play cards" which was business cards with his promoter personality and social media info. I thought that would be fun to do for myself but I didn't work anywhere or do any official enough activity so it probably looked like an escort card
I know people bash timehsare all teh time. But we are with Diamond Resorts and we LOVE it. We have tons of locations to choose from and great rooms. Whenever we go on vacation we know we have a great room already available to us. If you can afford it its worth it IMO.
You can put those tickets back into slot machines and play them. Some casinos are more insidious and print out tickets that you cannot put into the machines. You have to line up at the main cashier's cage to redeem them and most people don't bother. I sometimes see homeless people redeeming handfuls of them.
