Tusk Rims we’re great. The Lectron I actually pulled back off and went back to stock. It kinda neutered the bike in my opinion. Ran great but lost some of is spirit.

Hard to say. The YZ makes a great singletrack bike. As far as hard enduro or where things get incredibly technical, it can do it absolutely, but there are better bikes out there that are made specifically to do the harder stuff. I will say that the YZ has been the most comfortable bike out of the box. I think it comes down to the person riding it to be honest. If you get the YZ, but get the heaviest flywheel you can find and hit the woods. I think it’s a good enough platform to learn on. My biggest gripe is lack of e-start.

@@PlushEnduro Thanks. I don't think I will do very technical stuff. More enduro trails (single track type terrain but can be wet muddy), for the fun and exercise. It's hard to find a very good bike

Shoot, I think the YZ is maybe a good fit then. Soften up the clickers and rip, a flywheel weight will help smooth it out as well.

@@PlushEnduro Is it possible to fit an electric starter on a YZ250 2-stroke? 🤔 I'm guessing no. Then again, if I'm not going to do much technical stuff, I suppose I wouldn't stall the bike much.

Nice man, I nvr would have guessed how great a platform it was for building a woods bike.

Vince the vibration reduction is huge. When I get on my Beta now (no flexxbars) i can barely stand it. I never really had a complaint until I started using the flexxbars on this bike. So, that’s my measurement guide basically.

I through the 3-4-5 gears from the 250x in there. Def worth the effort.

These bikes, there is something about them, for sure. I found that even my 2002 felt better ergonomically as well as they way it handled the trails to be significantly better than the orange bikes (that I’ve ridden). The stock suspension even before revalve was better than any WP offering. (IMO anyway). I would take a YZ over an XC variant anyway of the week for XC racing and stuff. I’m a fan. But, different strikes for different folks I suppose.

They were re-valved by a local suspension guy. I’m not sure what weight he used though. I blindly put my faith into his expertise. 😂

@@PlushEnduro what plug were you running? My yz250 fouls the br8es At 11-13 hours. And I haven't fouled a br8eg at 40 hours

You could totally just jump on a yz and ride in the woods. Especially in fast and flowy. Out of the box in it’s true MX form it’s one of the most comfortable bikes I’d ever ridden. It’s super responsive, better than anything coming out of Europe and this things 20 years old. However, when it comes to the gnarly stuff it needs some tweaking to make it easier to ride. You CAN ride with with doing nothing, but it lacks a lot of the the things in its MX form that makes something like a KTM great in an enduro “like” environment. I’d be happy with just a flywheel weight to help with stalling and an 18” rear wheel to open up tire selection and add comfort on rocks and roots.

You got the skills. I find making things much more satisfying than giving my money to communist china so communism fund itself. Anybody who has production over there, (or business with communism anywhere), has no idea the free enterprise opportunity that they helped destroy for their own children.

I did install the lectron, works good. Ran that one race on it, but decided I’d rather get the Keihin dialed in and run that instead. The Lectron worked AS good as a “pretty well tuned” carb. On the downside I feel like it didn’t fix the 0-1/8 throttle issue a lot of people have with these YZs. I also feel like it robbed the YZ of some of its “spirit”. I think I can do better swapping out the slide on the carb playing with some different needles and stuff. I didn’t hate the lectron, I just didn’t love it either. 🤷‍♂️ As far as jetting it will mostly be jetted for my area 6-10kish. I wish I lived in Moab. Lol

Gotchya I'm trying to get my yz dialed in but have been chasing flat spots. If you get it figured out please share. I'm also located in CO and ride mostly around 4500

This mountain life would you be interested in selling the lectron if you still have it?

So this is what I would do. Take one of the 8mm bolts out of plastics and run down to the hardware store. It’s the same thread pitch as that bolt, but find a couple longer ones. Maybe an 1 1/4” long. That should do ya.

Yamaha dealer can fit you with all the rubber grommets and washers and oem bolts you need.

Ahh steel frame too! Nice! They should bring back the steel frames on the yzx’s. They feel noticeably “softer” in the choppy stuff.
