Hi Kevy Love your shaving videos. I'm a retired firefighter so I shave everyday ( old habits die hard). I use a Harry's razor on my face and the DE razor on my neck. The ease of the cartridge razor In addition to the close shave that it provides keeps me using that. I cannot however use a cartridge razor on my neck because I get razor burn terribly. I use a DE razor usually with a Gillette silver blue blade and gives me the closest shave without any irritation whatsoever. Hope all is well.
I use a Multi blade razor from Aldi which is a much better deal for a razor than from the major stores. I use it for shaving the back of my neck when I give myself a haircut every few weeks. Use a DE razor for my face. Thanks for your show, i enjoy your humour and the many facets of shaving that you discuss. Neil L from OZ
Great shave. This type of video came out of left field, but let’s hope things get back to normal soon. I was about to use a one-blade disposable razor when I was on a weekend vacation, but I didn’t have time. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I still haven’t gone back to cartridges since switching to wet shaving. Have a good one!
The Skin Guard is my favorite cartridge razor - only two blades and spaced so as not to cut below skin surface. If you really want to shave fast try hair conditioner without brush. Some are slicker than others but most work quite well. For travel and for looks and weight I prefer the short Parker metal handle they market for travel - it’s Fusion compatible.
I traded in disposables and cartridges in 2016 or 2017 (right when the rockwell 6S was teleased for general sale) thanks to the clean shaver (scott ostermiller) and Nick Shaves and I've never looked back.
I used to use cartridge razors for quickies, but I got used to using safety razors as a quickies too. I just use Nivea sensitive calm liquid cream instead of shaving soaps with brush and bowl and yada yada boogie boo. Just watch out for the shaving purists that show up to your bathroom window with pitchforks and torches. Ooooooooo!
Kevy que tal brother?) Speechless............ Although I consider myself a purist and traditional in the world of wet shaving, I must admit that your shave today was something unusual and very eclectic, however I consider it a hybrid shave for the occasion in a hurry LOL 😂, I hope that the next shave will help us show something more traditional 😉😉😉👍
Use once in a while the GilletteLabs or the triple blade Taconic blades with a vintage Atra/Contour handle. Stellar results. On AE you can buy a rubberized blade sharpener for cartridge heads and can get months of use on one cartridge (yes, really!)
Personally I don't have skin issues using carts, it's more the cart cost and the threw away plastic (although they can be recycled via TerraCycle). I like the two bladed Skin-guard and some canned Gels are really slick. Good quick shave Kevy.👍😎👌
same, except on work days I usually just do 2 passes in between 10 and 15 mins and end up between DFS and BBS. Typically I face lather with a synthetic brush to skip the soaking. I could do a 3 pass but with a mid aggressive razor I usually get a great result in 2.
@@kevyshaves4109 nothing wrong with cartridges though, it's just I got so used to DE shaving that I feel more clumsy with a cartridge now. I heard the skinguard is very comfortable, I believe it was mentioned quite a few times by dermatologists channels.
I used it at the beginning of my shaving career. Then electric and now the classic wet shaving stuff. Never looked back to spending much money and getting irritations.
Hey Kevy, great video! I was wondering if you could recommend in your opinion what would be a great synthetic brush for face lathering? Something that has some decent backbone to it and not too expensive. Thanks for any suggestions and be well!
Razorock Amici has good backbone and isnt too expensive. Also the Simpson Trafalgar T2 or T3 synthetics are very good but are a little bit more expensive. Kevy 😃
I always wonder what kills which scent in the after shave. I mean, if you habe with matching soap and splash scents..then you witch hazel. Then a balm. Doesn't that take away from the original soap and after shave matching scents?
To be fair, the scent of a soap only really lasts throughout the shave. It doesn’t really hang around on the skin once it’s removed and you’ve rinsed with water. As for the aftershave, some do hang around and you could always leave the aftershave until the very last thing you apply after the witch hazel and the balm. There’s no hard and fast rules. Cheers. Kevy 😀
I'm SHOCKED 😱😱😱 Not really. But I think you could get a DFS in 2 passes using a DE safety razor. My 10-minute shave uses a canned shaving cream/gel that I face lather with a brush. Then I do a two-pass DE (WTG and ATG) shave. The only time I use a cartridge razor is to shave the back of my neck when I shower.
Always tempted but I'll leave the plastic gear for me bruv....he seems to like. Lately been goatying up my goaty beard with a fab new skeleton trimmer I ordered...really like it, as it's like an extension of my traditional razors. Still got me traditional gear, I won't be buying any plastic stuff. 😆😁🖐️☝️#longlivedoubleedged
