Yeah there's been a strong anti fats campaign that's been pushed for the past couple of decades at least. There is some truth in what he said, however most of it has since been proven to be propaganda. And there's no way that a kid had a chemical burn on his tongue from Doritos. He had to have been doing something else or something stupid before eating Doritos.

The thing is, is that a lot of if not most people realise how unhealthy these things are, or at least that they're not healthy. We realise that fast food burgers and squirt cheese and such are processed, cheap, and unhealthy alternatives, but those things are popular because they're cheap. Our housing prices are sky rocketing while our employment rates plummet. People "continue to eat these things" because a fast food burger is $4 and buying natural/organic meat and bread alone is triple that. People aren't eating bad things because they're stupid, they're eating them because these are the options that are available to them.
YES! Also why many poor people in the U.S. suffer from obesity and Diabetes. Fresh, healthy food is much more expensive. Many people today are poor even while working full time. Prep time is a drain.
This is a poor excuse. I think the lack of education on nutrition and the lack of willingness to change diet is why many Americans suffer from obesity and or other diseases caused by lifestyle choices. When someone eats Whole Foods he/she won’t have to eat as much because it has more nutrients. The lack of temperance also plays a factor. The idea that we only live once and therefore I’ll eat whatever I want plays a huge role. The real issue is the mentality but because people don’t want to be held accountable they try to justify themselves by blaming circumstances and or other people.

So the bag still contains 15oz of chips. The amount of air is irrelevant. And the air has a purpose. If it werent for the air the chips would be a crushed broken mess. The air in chips bags protects the chips from crushing and breakage during shipping and handling. Its a cushion. Its not some trick or gimmick.
@Biggus Dickus Well of course. Home cooked meals, vegetables, fruit, dairy (not cheese products and stuff, real ones), bread etc. Basically avoid anything that doesn't look similar to it's natural state and comes in packaging. For example if you buy a ready to bake pie it will have preservatives, fats etc but if you make it yourself you know exactly what you are putting in it.

As an Asian, we learn how to cook simple meals that won't cost much. Most of the foods on the list are processed foods and fast foods. I think these foods are part of the American cuisine that are mostly produced in factories and restaurants. So I guess no one is to blame if you eat these type of foods in a daily basis since it's part of being an American. Though it's pretty clear that they're not really healthy foods so it's up to you.
No argument here. I eat a diet low in meats and fats, deep fried foods and sodas were eliminated years ago. Now it's mostly beans, lentils, or peas out of a crock pot with a little chicken and or rice. Still fighting blood pressure and weight. The American diet is deadly and it's a long slow road back. Will soon be eliminating cheese as well. If income permitted, I would live on cucumbers and tomatoes in sandwich form.
Instant noodles were invented by Momofuku Ando of Nissin Foods in Japan. I'm an American who lives in Taiwan. Instant noodles are loved by Taiwanese. There are many more kinds of instant noodles here than in the USA, and they are almost a staple for students and late night workers.
