----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's discover the 15 worst foods for diabetics.
1) Low fat packaged foods aren't better for you as they usually ADD a TON of sugar instead.
2) Packaged sauces contain a lot of added sugar, salt, and fat.
3) Most store-bought BBQ sauce contains 7 grams of sugar per tablespoon!
4) You can make a salad unhealthy by using packaged salad dressings as most of them contain high amounts of sugar, try creating healthier homemade versions.
5) Beware of packaged soups as most of them contain high fructose corn syrup - considered to be one of the worst types of sugar you can consume.
6) Canned fruits are packed full of sugar-loaded syrups and preservatives to maintain long shelf life.
7) Protein bars may seem healthy, but they are packed full of added sugar, so try to get your protein from more natural sources like chicken, fish, and nuts.
8) Sports drinks provide energy in the form of processed sugars, which will spike your blood sugar, and did you know that a typical sports drink bottle can contain up to 32 grams of added sugar!
9) Fruit smoothies might seem like a healthy choice, but most fruit smoothie chains load their products with high fat ice creams, sugary yogurts, or syrups.
10) Eating whole fruits are an excellent source of nutrients and fiber, but fruit juices have these removed and are basically like drinking pure sugar.
11) French fries are usually deep-fried in unhealthy vegetable oils, which will add a ton of calories to your meal and also spike your blood sugar.
12) Most packaged sweet treats are chock full of processed sugars, and even a healthy-sounding granola bar can contain up to 7 teaspoons of sugar!
13) Eating white bread, white rice, and white flour pasta will spike your blood glucose levels and provide very little nutrition. Try switching to whole grain products instead.
14) Most potato chips are loaded with additives, preservatives, and high fructose corn syrup to create the bliss point, which makes them so addictive and has us coming back for more.
15) Most soft drinks contain upwards of 7 teaspoons of sugar! Soft drinks will flood your bloodstream with a large dose of dangerous simple sugars, which will also make your feel hungry. Try drinking water instead, as it will aid your digestion, keep you hydrated, and help you feel full.

My oldest son is in his early 20's and he has type 1 diabetes. But thank God for this piece of article ru-vid.comUgkxVYhghKWmrUgXARZ_ydZTvmmcrw5L0I5i At first he thought he had the flu and was lying down on the bed for three days until his sister took him to the hospital. They took his blood and it was 600. What I do not understand is how he could have gotten it, since no one in the family has it. But he is winning the battle now. This is good stuff.

This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. Wrong. Most doctors - at best, many doctors - know squat about physiology and nutrition. They don't accept the good studies. They preach the failed dogma of the FDA and the Harvard School of Public Health. It doesn't take an advanced degree to realize that carbs cause an insulin response, and that, in time, insulin resistance is the direct consequence. Look around. You might notice that lotsa folks are ailing from metabolic disorders.

Heart condition probably caused by the last 10 years (at least) of building insulin resistance that the Drs. never check for. I have been there done that with a 3x bypass and never really got any healing after surgery until I went very low carb and high natural fat keto way of eating. 74 years old now and no meds for anything other than supplements. A1c in the low 5s, fatty liver is gone bp in the 110-120 range over the 60s and my hearts ejection fraction increased by 11% after the diet change from plant based to keto

Great video! I'm type 2, and within three months of eating extremely cleanly and training hard in the gym, as well as hiking and cycling....I've almost reversed it after living with it for around 15 years. The visceral fat I have carried around my waist has almost all disappeared and I'm feeling absolutely fantastic! My blood sugars are almost at non diabetic levels now, down to 45 mmol when they were 85 mmol twelve months ago, and between 53 mmol and 65 mmol between three and nine months ago. Looking forward to seeing my HBA1C results in another 3 months. It is possible to eat like a king, just by not buying any toxic foods, and also not eating anything for 2 hours + before going to bed. It works wonders honestly.......just try it! As per the video, kill the bread/wheat products, kill the white potato and white rice. Only use healthy fats such as extra virgin olive oil, ghee, coconut oil instead of seed/vegetable oils (poison). Avacados, green non-starchy vegetables such as brocolli, green beans and asparagus, leafy greens including spinich, lentils (yummy), make your own dressings as per this video, creme freche, sweet potato, oatmeal, natural honey as a sweetener (small amounts), nuts and grains. Chicken, fish or even vegan non meat burgers can be good (check the additives before buying) as well as eggs. All of which are full of protein and contain good fats. Very small amounts of fruits, and not late in the day, and berries are your best bet ie strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and raspberries. Try a few of those with some creme freche or full fat greek yoghurt for a delicious dessert!! Bananas are tasty, however, not the best fruit for us diabetics, so try to have a few slices instead of a full one if you can. Most alcoholic beverages such as beers and red wine are loaded with carbs and calories so should be consumed sparingly too. Oh and this also goes hand in hand with high cholesterol! My levels are back to normal for the first time in years, and that's without any statins. Hope this at least helps some of you out there, and good luck! 😁😁😁

However, my guess would be stick to eating healthy and staying active as long as you can for the rest of your life for maximum longevity of results. Eat good, train hard, feel good, look good etc... 😁 PS I'm sure the odd cheat day once in a blue moon is ok once you have achieved your personal goals. My glucose was measured at 266. My doctor wanted to put me on medication. I begged him not to, I’ll turn it around. He gave me three months, then a blood screening. I cut sugar and exercised , went thru the painful withdrawal. In three months, measured 115 , fatty liver was gone. Dropped lots of weight, waist size 42 to a 36 in three months. Food… from the ground to your mouth….. protein and onions and peppers Beans, fresh salads, and good amounts of butter. Your body and brain will stop feeding on sugar and start feeding on protein and fat.

Same age. Pre-type 2. My dad is type 2. I eat only fruits and veggies raw, and fresh. I do dip them in dressing, but don't slather them in it. I eat fish for dinner, usually, or another protein, but usually no sauce. I drink water all day long. I was drinking hot tea with honey, but I think it was still interfering with my blood sugar. I was drinking green tea, along with some other kinds, and mixing them. Tea bags, not pre-made. I put one spoonful of honey, and that was it, but I have since just gone to almost nothing but water to drink. I'm exercising more, and just feel better, overall.

I'm trying to regulate the swelling in my feet with herbs; but at least my toes aren't turning black anymore. I also quite waking up in the middle of the night starving and I have lost a few pounds. However just because you get rid of the 15 edibles in this video does not mean that you become diabetes free. Nope other things may be causing troubles like, insulin resistance. So yes some will benefit greatly by getting these 15 items off the menu but as I do not eat these 15 items and still have horrible readings on A1c's there are other problems at hand.

@@brucewmclaughlin9072 We are a perfect example here in my house. Both type 2 diabetics, but I am always eating at home. Just retired now, but even when I worked I took my lunch. He, on the other hand, will not take a lunch with him as he works as a cook and figures he can fix something there - which is never healthy. He also grabs candy bars and juice drinks or things like Snappier or the one that is half lemonade/half iced tea. Oh,, and he always comes home drinking a latte. His cereal this week is Captain Crunch. If I eat cereal, it is Honey Nut Cheerios. I, on the other hand, drink the one cup of coffee in the morning, 3-16.9 oz bottles of water, 1-4oz glass of orange or grapefruit juice a.m. and p.m. with medications, and I treat myself to one Caffeine-Free Diet Soda per day (not great for me, but this keeps me out of worse things to get a break from water). Bread I eat is homemade, and I replace sugar with honey and most often it is oatmeal bread. My snacks are a veggie, cheese, and a fruit serving. Sometimes I make boiled eggs. He says he eats what I give him, but I assure you I did not buy that Captain Crunch, candy bars, or hot dogs he eats at work. Even when we have ice cream, the one I eat is a "light" ice cream. His is rocky road. I also never bought the pop tarts, Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, etc. I do, however, take responsibility for seeing to it he takes all his medication. So, he does not understand why my A1c runs 5.9 to 6.1, and at best when he actually did stick to what I made here at home, I have once gotten his to 6.9. Otherwise, can't get it down below ave 7.6, and the one he just had was 8.5. So, tonight the "fight" begins. It is Wed salad night. I will make a full dinner salad, which is filling. He will have a bowl of cereal after, his store-made latte with both sugar and powder creamer, a glass of half iced-tea half cran-grape juice, and then after I fall asleep something I know nothing of. I have to try to stop some of this down. He is peeing constantly right now, his neuropathy is worsening, as is his eyesight. I have a syndrome called Charcot-Marie-Tooth which, so far, has resulted in full loss of structure of left foot, worsening deformity of rt foot, and both hands, as well as diaphragmatic spams which make breathing and swallowing difficult, but I remain fully responsible for the exercise life of my Siberian huskies. So, what I am telling you is part of all this, for most of us, is what we put into it!!

I have been a type 1 diabetic for over 30 years. Most diabetics count carbohydrates. Just about everything you eat turns into glucose once it hit your stomach, with a few exceptions. You have to have a balance in your diet or you will feel deprived. Nothing should be off limits. Enjoy food, just watch the amount and what it does to your sugar levels. Test your glucose often throughout the day. That really is the key.

It's just unfair because many others get sick because of their poor food choices.

@NexusNine 2 года назад
Not even close to the best video ever for diabetics. There are several things wrong in this video. 1. For instance, eating whole grains. Nope. A diabetic's body can't really tell the difference between simple carbs and complex carbs. Ultimately, all of it breaks down into glucose (except fiber). The problem is that the blood cells become resistant to storing that glucose, which causes your pancreas to overproduce insulin. Hence, your blood sugar spikes. Don't switch white rice with whole grain rice. Cut out all rice altogether. Use riced cauliflower instead. Same with bread. Whole grain bread can spike blood sugar just as badly as white bread. Get rid of it. Find a substitute like using egg wraps instead. 2. They were absolutely insane to suggest replacing regular potatoes with sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are incredibly high in carbohydrates. It's no safer to eat than a regular potato. Any health expert worth their salt would never tell a diabetic to eat a sweet potato. 3. Store bought, bottled salad dressings, like ranch and blue cheese, actually doesn't have a lot of carbs in them. They are actually quite safe to eat as long as you don't drown your salad in them. They also make a nice vegetable dip. Never has a moderate amount of store bought ranch or blue cheese dressing ever spiked my blood sugar. In fact, it hardly even effects my blood sugar at all. Videos like this are harmful because they are based on outdated nutritional information. A diabetic shouldn't be trying to control their diabetes, they should be trying to reverse it. You can listen to them, or you can listen to me, someone who actually did reverse his diabetes. I'm a type 2 diabetic. At my worst, my A1C was at 7.6. I now have an A1C of 5.1. 5.1 isn't just controlling diabetes, that's a complete reversal. My blood glucose is at a normal, non-diabetic level. And I will be up front with you, that didn't happen until I cut grains out of my diet.

This programmer I’ve found very useful and made me much clearer of what chances I need to make. I’m determined that mediation is not going to be my life on this health issue. So I’m on it and finding it very interesting and also quite sad at how I was eating before. I’ve subscribed to the channel and will continue to watch to keep me on track. 👍🏽👍🏽

I've been type 2 for over 15yrs. I am now at pre diabetic levels because I don't over do it. I do admit that I will never give up my Heinz Ketchup but use it in Moderation. An excellent substitute for soft drinks is Water. Got a sweet tooth have about 20 grapes. I also bake my own bread, 3 ingredients, whole grain flour, water and yeast. You do have to add 1tablespoon of sugar to activate the yeast. Don't torment yourself and try to quit cold turkey, it's gradual. Moderation, Moderation and Moderation is the key to enable you to have that occasional pasta dinner or fruit juice just don't get that mentality that it's not that much this time. Are you so weak, No you're not.

@E EE Hi the bread recipe is quite simple. 6 cups King Arthur Flour, best flour because it is higher in protein. Yeast : 1 1/4 tablespoon, and approx 2 cups warm tap water. Take 1 cup water and 2 tablespoon sugar, needed to activate the yeast mix all 3 set aside and let the yeast get foamy, 15-20min . Place flour in mixer, start mixer and add all water and yeast. For moister bread add some olive oil about 1/4 cup. If you are not watching calories add a melted stick of butter. As bread mixes gradually add remaining water. When bread forms a ball in the mixer it's ready. Remove bread, kneed dough for 3-5 min set aside in a bowl. Dough will 2X in size. Deflate dough then form desired loafs let it rise again, approx 1hr .350* preheated oven. Bake, cool off and enjoy 😀🍞✌

Paul, T2 sufferers need to eliminate any edible product if it contains carbohydrate. It is difficult but doable and once the food list represents items with less than 1%, the benefits of the intermittent fasting kick in big time. Also eat a tablespoon of coconut oil fat per day to assist energy levels and manage hunger pangs. The oil is in liquid state on the supermarket shelves. Put and keep it in the fridge to solidify. NOT IN THE FREEZER. Eat 1xtablespoonful when required.

Thanks for setting the right tone on condemning the food processing industry. Processed foods = junk, and it's often more expensive than ordinary healthy foods. From the list of 15 types of food you learned about here conduct a little test. Next time you go to the grocery store notice how much shelf space is devoted to these types of food. Whole aisles of sugary sodas, potato chip and snack type foods, cookies, candy, fruit juices, and baked goods. It's a lot of the shelf space. And it's bad for you and good for the grocery store and processed food manufacturers profit margins.

Eating mostly fruit is not going to do it for you, Michael. You should be eating more protein and vegetables than fruit. Take a look at serving sizes for your protein, and make sure that you're getting at least 20 grams at every meal. Veggies should be non-starchy ones, so leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, beets, salad, like that. If you're going to eat fruit, it should be in moderation, and you really should stick to citrus and berries because they have the most fiber.

Dr Clark, Re: Diabetes and food Thank you for your comments relative to what diabetics should eat in order to best assist the eradication of T1/T2. Please note that in your short comment you have imparted more information than I received at the consultation where I learned that I was confirmed as having type 2 diabetes. How simple and less stressful would it be if the medical services had a simple pamphlet at hand to give to new diabetics as a guide to their diet, what foodstuffs to not eat and exercise regimes? There are still far too many diabetics who eat carbohydrate not knowing they should not. There are too many of us who have been prescribed the wrong medications. Knowledge of the A - Z detailing how to combat the disease through consuming the correct foodstuffs and also to list the foods we have to avoid if we are to succeed in our personal battles against this dreaded disease which needlessly kills too many people around the world. The more we learn about this disease, the more armed we can be from the start to ensure each of us eradicates diabetes & regains our health to once again lead our lives to the full. Robert Bruce

Having been a lifetime addict to sugar sodas and sugar itself, I have now been off soda for several years, and have been sugar-free for over 2 years now. I promise you, Sandra, that if you will give it 100% and get off sugar, your body will actually start enjoying the stuff that it currently finds "boring". When you kick the sugar, your body starts tasting the actual sugar in fruits, nuts, and even crazy things like celery. I actually like celery, but after about a year of being sugar-free, I took a bite of a stick of celery and it actually had a little bit of sweet taste. I had never noticed that in my entire life until that moment. I have to throw in here though that it is super important to be careful not to go the route of sweeteners that contain aspartame. The sweetener I use is stevia. It definitely took some getting used to, and all Stevia is not manufactured the same. It took a couple of tries to find one that suited my taste, but it is a 100% natural sweetener, and it does not have the neurotoxins that so many of the other common sugar substitutes have. Anyway, if you choose to do it, you will be amazed. I never ever thought I would be free of soda and free of sugar. It's still amazes me!
@camgere

It's amazing how much stuff we used to call "junk food" is actually high carbohydrate food. I eliminated most of the foods on this list and cut my A1C in half after eliminating insulin. If I knew what I know now I could have drastically cut my blood sugar in just 3 or 4 days. It's not like losing weight which often takes months (after that initial 5 pounds which seems so easy). Some the things that you may consider eating: olive oil, eggs, steak, pork, salmon, sausage, bacon (no added sugar!), roasted chicken, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, asparagus and cabbage. Note how few processed foods are on this list. So there are foods that you can actually eat. Everyone is different, so you have to learn what is right for you. Insulin is often great for Type 1 diabetics (I'm Type II, and have no need for a fat storage hormone). Be guided by your blood sugar meter.

The biggest problem I have with videos like this one is that there is still this very unhealthy idea to push whole grains onto diabetics when many diabetics simply can't tolerate them any better than the same products made with white flour and starches. Whole grain rice still has 46g of carbs per serving, and anyone with even moderate insulin resistance will see their blood sugar spike. Same with a sweet potatoes.

Pretty sure I can lose another 10-15 (bring me down to 175) if I was a little more strict. But carbs are definitely the reason for Type 2 and weight gain.

Sugar alcohols are supposed to be safe, but even in small amounts, I got diarrhea and upset stomach. I even ended up with pancreatitis and had my gallbladder out after eating some fake crab and ice cream with sorbitol in it. It's an accumulative effect. I tried some unsweetened tea that had monkfruit and discovered it was erythritol which also gave me diarrhea at the same restaurant I ate at a diner 2x. The first was a salmon-crab sandwich. Since I read labels now and ask if the crab is real or what is in the food, I have had no more diarrhea or upset stomach. My dogs and I both have to avoid xylitol. Bali and sf Vitamin Water both include erythritol and so will many new ice creams.

Potatoes are high glycemic when they're eaten hot. When you let them cool down, they become what's known as a 'Resistant Starch' and won't spike your blood sugar. Same thing happens to white rice. Brown rice is actually worse for you than white rice as it contains even higher levels of arsenic.

Absolutely not. There is a lot of misinformation in this video surrounding whole grains. Most diabetics can't eat grains without having blood sugar spikes. The diet presented in this video is the standard diet most dietitians put their clients on to manage diabetes. Problem is, the success rate for this diet is actually kind of low because it's not designed to reverse diabetes; it's designed only to manage it. Most diabetics will remain in prediabetic or low diabetic range, often having to continue medication as well. And to be frank, it doesn't have to be that way. At all. Type 2 diabetes can absolutely be reversed. I would know because I did it. I reversed my diabetes. A1C dropped from 7.6 to 5.1. And guess what? Whole grains had to go. Sweet potatoes had to go too. They aren't any safer than a regular potato. Less carbs? Yes. Still packed full of carbs, though.

@@NexusNine Thank you for your comments and sharing your experience. As a vegetarian (NOT a Vegan - I still have dairy products like butter and milk) my diet choices are restricted. I cannot eat meat. If I set aside grains all I have to left to consume are vegetables and fruits. So what I try to do is consume those grains which have low glycemic index such as oats, quinoa, rye, millets and brown rice. By consuming these and taking my diabetes medication I am able to manage although my sugars levels are definitely not as healthy as I would like.

@@lgopalakrishnan3181 I hope you respond back to this, because I really want to have a legitimate and candid conversations with you. It's your life and you live it as you please, but please consider what I'm going to say in this message. I'm not going to lie, I know vegans and vegetarians who have had to change to an omnivore diet and reintroduce meat into their meals for health reasons. Equally, I also know people who have controlled their diabetes on a plant-based diet, but do so understanding that they have a very limited pallet of what they can eat. They don't have a lot of variety in their diet, and they are okay with that. But it doesn't look like you are okay with such a limited diet. To be flat, grains have to go, my friend. They are what's keeping you diabetic and on medication. You've unfortunately fallen into the same trap that all of us fall into on our diabetic journey. I promise you, I have fallen into this trap myself, and nothing good comes from grains in a diabetic body. Oats are no good. One serving is 60 net grams of carbs. Brown rice is 45g of net carbs. Quinoa has 39g of net carbs per serving. Millet has 39g. These are what's keeping you diabetic. None of them are diabetic safe. Nor are the recommended carb limits that are prescribed by some dietitians. Many dietitians continue to push the idea that complex carbs are safer and better to eat than simple carbs, which is true but also untrue. Safer, yes. But safe in general? No. Complex carbs still break down in the body as glucose. In an insulin resistant individual, it doesn't much matter what kind of carb is breaking down into glucose in their body, the problem is that their blood cells are resistant to storing that glucose as fat and energy, so the pancreas overproduces insulin to compensate. Don't live and breathe by the glycemic index. Carb tracking is far more complex than that. I don't know your reasons for being a vegetarian, whether you can't eat meat for health reasons, or whether it's just that you feel that you have a moral obligation to not eat meat. I get it if it's a feeling of moral obligation, but you're going to have to ask yourself if remaining a vegetarian is worth undermining your own personal health. Because meat really is a major part of a healthy diet. Like I said, you absolutely can control your diabetes on a vegetarian diet, but you have to be willing to live with a very limited number of food choices. Because I promise you, if you don't drop the grains, you're never going to reverse your diabetes, and you're never going to get off your medication. That will likely lead to more insulin resistance, putting more strain on the pancreas. That could then lead to your pancreas shutting down altogether, which you'll then find yourself on daily or weekly insulin injections for the rest of your life. I was on the verge of all of this myself until I realized that grains and oats had to go. Now my blood glucose is in the non-diabetic range and completely normal. If you want to reverse your diabetes, you're going to have to make a choice. Either you're going to have to live with a very limited diet to maintain your vegetarian lifestyle, or you're going to have accept that meat may be a necessity in your diet now. But if you change nothing and keep packing in all of those high carb grains for the sake of food variety, nothing is going to improve. Like I said, I just want to be candid with you. I want to see you beat this.

@@NexusNine First let me thank you for taking the trouble to explain and instruct. I am a vegetarian both by family background and personal inclination. I have read what you wrote about grains and that continuing to eat them will only result in a continued journey on the diabetes path. You also mentioned that giving up grains will leave me with very few choices of diet. In that case I must explore those few choices as well as I can. Perhaps I can bring myself to the point of giving up grains altogether. Perhaps I can reduce grain intake to a bare minimum and increasingly supplant this with other food choices. However, taking to meat is a decided NO for me. I will be looking into what I can do to stay vegetarian and alive. Once again many thanks! :)

@@lgopalakrishnan3181 I'm not going to lie to you, it's not going to be easy to maintain a lower carb diet on a vegetarian diet. It can be done, and I hope you can pull it off. I'm a meat eater, but I can still give you some advice to help you drop those grains from your diet and stick to your vegetarian stance. 1. PASTA. You can replace whole grain pasta noodles with shirataki noodles instead. Shirataki noodles are plant based noodles made from konjac roots. They contain about 4g of fiber per package, and only 2g of net carbs. Net carbs is the amount of carbs a food has after subtracting fiber from the total carb count. Fiber doesn't break down into glucose, so it has little to no affect on blood sugar. Shirataki noodles having only 2g of net carbs makes it a perfect alternative to grain noodles which has over 30g of net carbs in them. Or you can use zucchini noodles. They have about 4g of fiber with 4g of net carbs per package, or just 1g of net carbs for a single serving. I use both shirataki and zucchini noodles to make all of my pasta dishes. I don't miss traditional noodles at all. 2. RICE. Brown rice is packed full of carbs and far less fiber than most people realize. Just 1/4 cup of brown rice is about 30g of net carbs. I'm willing to bet you eat more than just 1/4 cup of rice with your meals. Nobody eats that little bit of rice in one sitting. Meanwhile, cauliflower rice is also plant based, but 1 full cup contains the same 2g of fiber that brown rice has, while only containing about 3.5g of net carbs. You get a larger serving with the cauliflower rice and get a better nutritional value out of it as well. And it's vegetarian friendly. I make all of my rice dishes with cauliflower rice. I don't miss brown rice whatsoever. 3. BREAD. This one you're a little stuck on. Most low carb and keto breads are made with egg whites, which is off limits on your vegetarian diet. I use egg white wraps to make sandwich wraps, quesadillas, quesadilla pizzas, tacos, stuffed spinach cheesy bread, and so on. But on a vegetarian diet, there are very little options for bread replacement. You can try Mission's Carb Balance Wraps, which have a lot of fiber, but the fiber is highly altered and blood sugar can still spike. I never suggest eating more than one on any given day. You may actually just have to give up bread. I don't suggest trying to just simply cut back on the grains. Carbs are already high in serving sizes that are already rather small. Does it sound sustainable to cut 1/4 cup of brown rice in half while still consuming 15g of carbs? You're getting a lot of carbs and walking away hungry. Again, why not eat a full cup of cauliflower rice and get better nutritional values? Now does that mean never, ever eat grains or higher carb foods? No. A small treat once in a while won't hurt. I allow myself a very small portion of potato salad every year for Christmas dinner. It just means that far more often than not, grains and starchy foods cannot be a part of the diet.
