The Lexa 300lcs have a wet drag system. The more you reel against the drag, the warmer it gets, loosening the friction/drag. And we always start a few clicks loose, for 3 reasons: 1) We're trolling fast, 2) We run very long setbacks and we don't want to yank the fish to the surface too quickly (because we troll shallow- less than 75ft) and 3) We release the 10 pound and bigger fish. Too tight on the drag and an angler can bring the fish up too fast, making the air bladder blow up (still can release them, but the percentage of survival goes down, due to the trauma).
I have every credential available lol. Ca DFW guide license, USCG MMC (Captains license) and on and on. I rarely take clients to Tahoe anymore (used to in winter only), since the boat launch doesn't open til 8am and they charge 75 now. This video and all the rest are from Donner lake
