Good one Dave. Another tip is tap your feet together to get rid of leaves and dirt before swivelling your feet inside the car. Definitely helps to reduce interior dirt in the footwell.
I did paint enhancement with Rupes advanced and a yellow wool pad. That adds a minimum 6 months of protection for winter. I think rinse less wash with HERO and finish with Amplify. My car is a gloss king.
In the bad weather after washing I coat the car in Demon Shine! It is very, very cheap/quick BUT you can apply it wet or dry, its really easy, coats everything (except windows) and it leaves a shine and seal that lasts a couple of week, by which time you are probably doing it again anyway
In winter spray and rinse sealants like 303/gyeon are so quick and effective . I change my wiper blades every year for a few quid and use good screen wash. A good tip for condensation inside your car is fill an old sock with cat litter and tie, leave it under a seat
Gretings from Norway.🇳🇴 About carcovers. Its important that the cover is breathing. If not, you can get moisture locked inside it. And better with a soft fabric, that does’t scrach up the paint. Great to see you have a Alfa! 🍀 I have a 1969 Gt1300 Junior. But its now parked inside a Carcoon inside the garage for the winter.😅 Its difficult to wash car outside here in the winter, that can get really cold. I once tried, but the snowfoam turned into icefoam.😂
My top tip for the winter would be keep up regular cleaning with some decent products to begin with. Invest in your car if it's decent. Buy a small Jack, Jack up each corner and with a set of brushes like the fender brush from EZ get right into the wheel arches and arch lip with some strong neutral car shampoo such as Carpro Reset and scub those arches out as dirt builds up and clings onto moisture and road salt speeding up the corrosion process. No dirt build up= no rust. Flush out road salt under the car also with your pressure washer and a snowfoamer if you can. Jacking up each corner give better access. Be careful and plan in advance how you plan to do this. I.e check the owners manual for Jacking points. Buy a decent paint sealant like Bilt Hamber Touch-on shampoo- this can be used as spray on and rinse off 3 month paint sealant. Snowfoam with Bilt Hamber touch-less snow foam is brilliant and works well for the radiators and air con condenser- make sure you protect the aluminium fins afterwards with Bilt Hamber Touch-on shampoo paint sealant as this stops the aluminium from corrosion and fends off road salt. You should plan your winter car maintenance in September on a dry day- full chassis clean and wax such as Bilt Hamber Dynax SC50 and UC. Apply a ceramic coating such as Carpro Dquartz Go or Carpro SIC. Both are easy to install. Glass sealant such as Glàco Ultra or Armour detail supplies glass sealant V2. Use a tyre surface sealant like Armour detail supplies Ghost- no sling and cures completely dry to the touch- no icky 1990s silicone oil slick here. There are so many decent products out at the moment. Generally don't buy Halfords car cleaning stuff it's ok for the average mundane motor. But if you wanna take pride in your ride then better chemicals and chemistry is found in top tier brands like Carpro, Gyeon, Armour detail supplies, DIY Detailing, Collinite, Bilt Hamber, Labocosmetica. It's not that more expensive to buy thee best. If you have bought a product for £15, that does not ok job, then pay the extra £3 for thee best products, you almost there for £18. Giving you noticeably best chemicals and higher concentrations. Cosmetic grade surfactants that are mind blowingly better. After all the difference between a good product is the enjoyment level. If you use an amazing product that you enjoy using then cleaning the car is no longer a chore.
I owned an old Jaguar XK8 and did a huge amount of research on covers because I didn't have a garage big enough for it. Clean or dirty the advice was not to cover the car. Even the premium multi layered covers caused paint issues with moisture and dragging the covers on and off dragged nasties across the paint
A lot of good info there. I had car specific mudflaps put on and they do help a bit. Also, layer up on protection. A base spray sealant and then keep adding something every month or so (like the Polar Seal you had) and hope for the best. Cheers dave!
There are great si02 snow foams out there now and this in my opinion is a great way for keeping your car cleaner in the winter , spray on once the car is clean and then jet wash off and dry , its that simple . Autobrite magiseal is awesome
u definitely know more then me but recently i found a way when fusso99 dry hard to apply but if u spray qd on it then apply more easyer* may be it's me idk*
You could do a video on winter essentials. Like what to carry. And like to make sure your headlights are clean. Like check list. Tyre pressures, correct washer fluid.tyre condition. Stuff like that. Just a though
Good tips, I’m trying to reduce the number of contact washes in the winter. Currently I’m using BH apc on bottom third, lay over with foam, then jet wash whole car, foam again and jet wash. I don’t dry the car after this, so far the Yum sealant is working well. I try to do this on really dull days or better still when rain is due so the rain washes off the hard water. This regime seems ok, any tips or alternatives?
Another great video Dave. Having used car covers and a carcoon in the past I have seen they either leak or trap moisture and condensation under the cover which cannot escape unless you remove it every so often. Taking your advice on not using a wax polish over the winter so will stick to a ceramic sealant. Haven't tried the foam sealants yet but do like the idea to save some time spraying and buffing etc.
Tip. Give your car a deep clean and protect just before we hit the harsh winter months. Like wheels off and clean arches and protect them. Make sure your breaks are clean and greased.
I've used polar seal for years and the smell is divine.. I may try the other but I'd be hard pushed to be converted.. why did you favour the other please ?
Thanks Mate no it's not for me. I enjoy filming the videos making products. Sure I could have taken that life and lived comfortably but my passion comes from content creation and having the freedom to film whatever products I want to 🙏
Dave may sound daft but have you ever used human cleaning products on cars like bath foam , and hair shampoo . Do they work or like using dish soap would the damage paint.
When a car is outside it should have sheeting capabilities, if a car is parked inside beading is perfect prottection, if you park a beader outside it can cause waterspotting or am I wrong?
