I believe they were particularly prolific amongst the McLeod's, they must have been hunted relentlessly, poor girls, if they survived the witch trials!
Several of these Clans were in the same area my family came from. A joke in the family goes, _"We never had any money, so we learned to save our grudges!"_ 😁😁😁 Now I'm curious as to how many curses we handed out along the way! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My father thought because his father came from Somerset, England that we were English, and that was that. I do have some English genetics but was nothing what he thought. When I had a DNA test, I found out that I'm genetically a full half Scottish... mostly Lowlanders from the Iverness & Dumfries area.
I wouldn't wish second sight on anyone. They can only predict death and misfortune. It's said they have a connection to death. Hence the name second sight, first sight is ours, second is the deads
you think , scots/irish and nobody holds a feud like the scots, what a bunch of grouches and long long pockets and the shortest hands, also stingy !! they did not change since 1607 !!
My seven times great uncle is said to have cooperated with a gnome, who persuaded him not to excavate the hill under his castle presumably inhabited by the gnome. Years later when this great uncle was about to be executed, the gnome showed up and carried him off on a white horse. His two times great nephew in North America was saved from Indian attack by his white horse! There is sometimes a rational approach to avoiding these curses!
It didn't work for me as I'm still cursed. My luck is always bad. So probably not. My luck is so bad it rubs off on people that have been exposed to me. All of my friends are now passed on. It even effects the people I work for. Just having me work for you can put you out of business or even cause you to get cancer. I don't have any kind of idea of what or why I'm cursed. As I'm really a good person.
I recently discovered my Scottish ancestry from the MacDuff and MacIntosh clans. My 7th great grandparents emigrated to America in the 1700's. These stories have been handed down but with different players; now I know the source. Thanks for posting!
MY CAME , SCOTS/IRISH IN 1607, TOOK ME YEARS TO FIND OUT DATE, MY GRANDMOHTER KNEW OUR FAMILY HISTORY , WHICH WHY WE CROSSED THAT POND FOREVER, EITHER THAT OR GET HANGED SO WE DECIDED TO SAY FUCK YOU ENGLAND AND WE LEFT! STILL HERE , BLUE RIDGE AND SMOKEY MOUNTAINS AND I SWEAR , AS ME COUSINS AND I HAVE DISCUSSED IS THAT OUR CLAN HAS BEEN CURSED FOR 1000 YEARS ! IF YOU KNEW THEM YOU WOULD AGREE , I ESCAPED AS I GOT THE IRISH SHINE !! AND SOME FAIRIES CAME WITH US !
Love all things Scottish, feel blessed somehow even though great grandfather Mc Intosh was lost in the hurricane of 1893 on the Gulf of Mexico US of A.
@@deenalemon66 I liked that you commented and shared, not the tragedy. There were some McIntoshes that settled in Georgia who were talked out of going to fight back to fight at Culloden and instead later fought with honor in the American Revolutionary War. Perhaps he was descended from them. I'm still looking for where mine immigrated to in the US.
Certainly there are records, although my Spanish army officer 4x great grandfather has had many descendants and a history book about his being a pioneer First family. My father’s family were all Scot Irish Protestant, I believe. I stumbled across a early record of an Indian agent named Macintosh who traded and lived before the revolution near a river in Florida, I think. There are Macintosh descendants on the Gulf coast of Mississippi to this day.
I am related to several of these clans. My Great grandma on one side was a MacLean and a Great grandma on the other side was a Campbell. We are related to Robert the Bruce and Brian Boru. So yeah. Good thing I am a woman with second sight who lives in the good old USA.
@@QueenRoseFlower It means she has some sort of psychic ability. See the future, see/speak to spirits, that kinda stuff. Most people scoff at it. I know at least one guy who is the real deal. It takes a heavy toll on his mental health. Imagine shaking someone’s hand and by doing so your ability tells you this person has undiagnosed terminal cancer and will die in 49 days. Or another time he shook a friend’s wife’s hand. He knew she was cheating on his life long friend. He’s a very strong Christian too and has been worried that his abilities are some sort of manifestation of evil or something. That whole “don’t suffer a witch to live” verse in the Bible.
I have Second Sight, the psychic ability to see, hear, and know things before they happen. Usually it only manifests when my family is involved or in danger. Unlike your friend, I don’t get impressions from touching objects or shaking hands. It is very unsettling to see beforehand that someone you love is about to die. I lost two children and I felt death both times. My heritage is Scotch-Irish and my family is gifted on both sides with the sight. My birth name was McCormick. Pattillo on my mother’s side.
@@NanaBren One of my great grandmothers was a McCormick. She emigrated from Scotland in the 1800s. She’s buried in a small family plot in a field off US HWY 301 between Dillion SC and Rowland, NC. You’re not from southeastern North Carolina are you? Mr. Billy was my barber for about 35 years. I’ve seen him do some amazing stuff. It wasn’t all bad things he saw. Once my best friend and I walked into the church sanctuary to sit down. Mr. Billy greater us inside and shook my friends hand and he broke out in the biggest smile I’ve ever seen on him. “Been busy I see.” He said to my friend Scott. “What do you mean Mr. Billy?” Scott asked. “Well you and Jill are about to get really busy in about 8 1/2 months”. Mr. Billy replied grinning. “Oh no no no no! No way!” Scott said shaking his head. He’d just gotten discharged from the Army to join a federal LE agency and had a lot of irons in the fire, no current job, and two small kids. Mr. Billy gave Scott a hug and said “Don’t worry! Y’all are all going to be just fine including your new baby.” Scott’s wife turned out to have been pregnant for almost 2 weeks. She didn’t even know until Scott told her to go get a test. Their youngest daughter graduates high school next year. Sometimes I know a few minutes ahead of time that a specific person is about to call me and probably be upset or really emotional in some way. Other times I’ll have a dream and I’ll be in a specific place and someone will say a very specific sentence to me. Months (usually) or sometimes a few years later I’ll get a weird deja vu feeling right before I see & hear in real life what I saw earlier in my dream. There’s no pattern or predictability to any of that. I’ve gone years at a time with nothing and then I’ll have it happen 4-5 times in 6 months. Mom used to say we got it from my great grandfathers side of the family. He was part Cherokee and was known as a root doctor which is an old term for a herbal health healer of sorts.
Phew! None of my Scottish forebears are on that list! If I were a young woman with "second-sight" I'd be trailing after young men of those specific clans, advertising my ability to ward off who knows what.
Well there's my camping trip to Skye off the cards!!! You don't need a visit from a long dead ancestor in the dark when you get up to pay the water bill!!!
So hilarious. You can just imagine all of the dark stormy nights by the fireplace where various Scotsman were telling these old scary stories to their children while sipping warm brandy or something. The scots are crazy! Love it!
@@suebee1436 😉 Though, to be fair, many of my Scottish relatives resent the term “Scotch”. They have told me that they consider themselves “Scots” or “Scottish” and that “Scotch” is distinctly a drink…. 🤷🏻♀️
I’m a Stewart and I have the second sight. Unfortunately, my life has been extremely cursed, especially since getting together with my partner, who also shares Scottish dna relatives with me (from Moffat). My Stewart father had MacDonald Eye Teeth (when your upper adult canines stay in the gum unerupted and you have the baby tooth into adult hood) and the psychic bond we shared was powerful. We are on the Nial of the Nine Hostages Y dna lineage as well, which links to the Stone of Sconce and the founding of the Royal Stewarts. The last thing my dad gave me before he died was…. a small white stone. I think it is a piece of snowy quartz that he found on a walk but it’s a bit weird now that I have listened to this video! Oh and my soul mission seems to be about… undoing curses! Crazy days!
@@Boats_N_Hoez Thank you for reading my comment. :) I understand what you mean about British people, lack of nutrients, bad teeth, and too much sugar. Throw in difficulty in accessing dental care to the mix as well. However, the MacDonald Eye Tooth I referred to is a genetic feature, as opposed to bad teeth due to a socio-environmental factors.
You forgot McDonald/McDaniel , my ancestors from those families tried to break the curse by marrying into wealthy landowners and they all ended up miserable and cranky .
Clans changed their names as they branched off, so there's no sure way to know original names. My ancestor is MacMiadhachain, my grandmother is McMeekin. She's supposedly Irish, but I have more Scottish blood. A couple of these are not curses. If a ghost from a clan walks an area, that doesn't mean the clan is cursed. My son-in-law stayed around his family a long time as a ghost.
That’s very true, I have a family ghost who somehow managed to follow me when I left the UK as a child, he saved my life twice when we lived there and 3 times since I was brought to Australia, all I know is he is my G-G-Grandfather and he’s been attached to me since I was born 6 weeks early back in Lerwick, both Mom and Gran never talked about it until I asked who was the old man standing guard over my bed when I was little. All I know is when it’s my time he will be there waiting, but until then he keeps stepping in to make sure I’m safe. I am not the only one in the family with second sight, but Gran told me I was the one with the strongest ability in the family, because I not only feel them in the room I can see them too. When my Aunt was near the end she asked me to visit, I knew what she wanted, she just wanted to know if what Uncle Laurence had told her about me was true and if he really was waiting for her. Her Son and best friend were furious because of this and told me I was out of line and had no right talking to my own Aunt on my own, Dad walked in on her rant, I looked at him never said a word, I just walked out in tears, I had just lost my Mom 6 months ago and now my Aunt, so I was doubly cut up, I could hear my Dad telling to pull her head in and told her that I knew more than her as it was my second round in 6 months after nursing my Mom for over 5 years unlike her and my cousin who only knew 6 weeks past, my Aunt did not want to live and die like my Mom, so she took matters in her own hands I was not sticking around for that at all.
I have Staurts/Stewarts and Campbell's and Bruce and Douglas and more in my ancestry. Would love to go to Scotland one day. My grandmother was a Hume. Her lineage goes way back. My dad's mom has lots of Scottish ancestry that goes back to Robert the Bruce. It's all very historical to me. I love history.
Everyone with Scottish ancestry claims to be a descendant of Robert the Bruce. However, my father has studied his and my mother's genealogy and has traced my mother's lineage to Robert the Bruce.
Then we are very remotely related because my ancestor, Sir Roger De Kirkpatrick, was 3rd cousin to Robert the Bruce and first cousin to William Wallace.
@1stAmbientGrl My ancestor was third cousin to Robert the Bruce. I'm not a descendant of Robert but spring from an adjacent bloodline. It's a well-known historical fact that his aide, Sir Roger de Kirkpatrick, was his third cousin. Sir Roger was also first cousin to William Wallace.
My grandparents were all from Scotland, except one and she was Welsh. I've been told that my grandfather was descended from James V...wrong side of the blanket.
My ancestors were the Royals of the Caudill (Caudle), Stewart’s and Campbell clan until the 17th century. I believe their American descendants were cursed. Many live a hardscrabble life in the hills of Eastern Ky.
I am a descendant of the Stuart's. My great grandfather came to the U. S. From Nova Scotia! My branch comes from Queen Mary's youngest son. James stayed there in Scotland/England and became the King of England after queen Elizabeth the first death
@@elainehorne188 mine were on 3 family tribes from the 17, 18th century and my Brandenburg-Hohenzollern was from 18th century. I’m thankful our genetics became quite diversified over the past 2 centuries which included Cherokee from the Eastern tribes.
This Stewart is also from Ky and I do agree my Stewart family has had very hard times and lots of losses and heartache. I always wondered if the Stewarts wasn't cursed
@@lindafarrell8250 I believe the monarchies were cursed during the bloody 30 year war of the 1600’s, same time the whites came to this land when the Native wars were happening. Even the Royal Brandenburgs in my family were cursed too. Eventually, parliament replaced kingdoms, giving the power back to the people as a collective. Kentucky is a beautiful haven, rich in beauty and land, beautiful old people, but it’s been ruined by corrupt politicians and drugs and poverty and for those who never pray.
Yes, I have Campbells in my ancestral background and other very rebellious clans too, but I’d like to think that my genes have given me a predisposition to be strongly independent. I simply never let ANYONE define me or tell me what to do or think….always do my own research, draw my own conclusions, & challenge conventional thought when needed.
Ok, not to create hysteria, but I am also a Maclean, and nurture my sanity and open-mindedness, however, all who know me well, know that it takes A LOT to get me to swim at the beach, and know there is absolutely no way I will ever climb aboard a sailing vessel and lose sight of the land.
You guys are off your head the Macleans originate from the western seaboard and have a proud history of seafaring, piracy and commanding for the Lord of the Isles back in the day. Pretty sure we're OK with open water!!
My Duncan/McCallums are blessed with the gifts of their miracle-working forebear, St. Columba of Iona. They are also the rightful kings of Scotland. The Canmore Dynasty.
How can anyone marry a woman with second sight when all such women were put to death as witches? Why on earth would anyone hang onto a cursed object? The Campbells did enough wrong to others to have earned any curse they have, even violating the code of hospitality by murdering the clan they were visiting, sparing not man, woman, or child.
i have a friend by the last name MacDonald that will not to this day eat Cambell's soup just because it has the name of that clan and he was related some how to the ones that were killed
My maternal grandmother is a Bruce and she said when she was a little girl she’d always have dreams about Robert the Bruce but I think she was just full of it. She was born and raised in Aberdeen
I walked into a tartan shop in NZ with my nana nearly two decades ago and remember she pointed out a pink tartan and said "oh I never thought I'd see that, we're decended from [that clan]" and for the LIFE of me, I cannot remember what clan it was. I could quite believe it if I was descended from a cursed clan, would make sense lol
Dad's side of the family are Highlanders, and our surname was Griggs. I don't know if we're related to any of these other clans though, but my Grandmother was absolutely mystified and enamored with the moon. What's funny is, every time the moon is full, I feel a massive surge of energy.
Is this a scottish blood thing?? My son had also inherited this lol Full moon night neither of us can sleep, everything is so loud lol Just feel like we want to run tbh. When I was a kid I thought I may be a werewolf lmao
The night before we have a bit of difficulty sleeping, the night of we're up til the sun comes up. I've literally laid there listening to crickets outside for 7 hours once, the day after ... ............. we're tired af lol
What about Clan Armstrong? Cursed by a priest. The bishop of Glasgow I believe, from his church. He cursed all of the clan, every part of their bodies. It was because of all the reiving I suppose. They were said to be a really bad assed lot. That curse is historical.
Well, that’s disheartening! I’m of the Armstrong Clan by my Fathers side & my ex-husbands family are descended from Campbells- no wonder we have the worst luck ! Thnx for the Info! ❤👵🏼🇺🇸/🏴
I married a Douglass. Story was, they added an s to the end to distinguish themselves from the others when they came to America. Finding out they're haunted (lol) does not surprise me.
I remember when I found out that at one point is was illegal to be a MacGregor. I was blown away. I found out in 2008 while trying to do my family tree.
Well, you just about covered all of the clans! My 5X Great-Grandfather came from the Highlands during the Clearances in 1763. He said he was of the Douglas clan.
@@wayneanderson8034 I have no time for people born in America or anywhere else for that matter that claim to be Scottish, or Irish etc. They might well have an ancestry link but it is no more than that. I have Irish ancestors but consider myself 100% British Scottish and that's enough for me.
I'm from the Lindsay Clan. Thank goodness we weren't on that list of curses & ghosts. But we're friends with the Campbells, so some bad luck probably rubbed off along the way.
I am aware that they were cursed when they stole the Stone of Scone, the one in which King David was crowned, from it's rightful owners, the High Kings of Ireland. It was for some time, being used by the British. It was returned the Scots, still the not rightful owners. I don't know which clan inherited the curse. I believe we are clost to the time when everything will be revealed. Been studying it for decades for personal reasons.
@@rickygosnell2845 Claims are that Jesus was AB due to a blood sample of the Shround of Turin. But that what was claimed, so who knows if that's right.
"Sit down, laddie. Now that you have come of age and are roaming the lochs like a feral badger, it is time to tell you about the family curse." "What, ma?!" "Yes, yes. You will be cursed with misfortune for all of your days unless you settle your ass down and marry a nice girl with second sight. It is the only way to relieve the trouble." "Gee, ma. Whete will I find a girl like that?" "Well, now that you mention it, I have been talking with the biddies in town, and we have a whole string of suitable women for you to meet. I quite like the MacKenzie girl now that I think of it. And I did hear her predict a storm in her youth. So that settles it." "Wait, ma, that settles wha...."
I didn't hear you mention Clan Gunn, thankfully! The Lindsay Clan were a bad lot, too. Locked the RF into a room in Glamis Castle, where they slowly starved to death.
@@cameronbruce412it's a Nordic name, bc the Gunn's came from the Vikings of Orkney. Which was Nordic land before Scotland took it over in the mid 1400s
As a kind of pun, modern day clan member is trying to break the curse by finding a woman with second sight. He overhears a woman saying she has second sight and kidnaps her. What she meant was that she is beginning to develop cataracts and you get something called second sight just before they start, You can see up close much better to the point you may not even need glasses... and rom-com ensues... I just got attacked by a plot bunny!!!!!!!!!!!
My last name is McDonald my ancestors immigrated from Skye to Georgia to help establish the original colony. MacDonalds aren't on the list but there has been a long history, dating back to the American Civil War (as far back as I'm aware of) of pretty tragic misfortune among the McDonald men in my family, myself included...
Oh bother!. Number 6 as I'm part McIntyre...I get the "singing ghost bard" as part of my ancestry!. never fear though...I have song lyrics a-plenty to keep this spectre at bay!. Oh and a wee bit of "second sight" and supernatural spookiness in the back pocket, just in case!. I guess a lot of women with second sight are in demand in my country...never realised this...the original "ghostbusters" you could say!.
The O' Huigin are, I got a Night Hag. Used salt on the windows and sage, then salted my doors. The moment I sealed the last door a 5lb weight came off my heart.
My ancestors are the Scott clan, although this was by my dad’s father being adopted by Henry O. Scott an American U.S. navy officer, but I’m still happy to know that I’m still Scott/Irish even though not by blood.
My ancestors were Clan Kerr, a lowland clan of border reivers. They were mostly lefthanded, and said to be so fierce that some thought they were possessed by demons. Maybe thats why they weren't on this list! 😉
I also have just a "Wee bit of Wallace blood"! My problem with the Wallace Clan is George Wallace, who was a Racist! There was also a member of Wallace an Lt. George Wallace at Wounded Knee Massacre December 29, 1890! He was killed there! I am more of a Lakota Tribe fan! German - Swiss American here! 🇩🇪🇨🇭🇺🇲💙🌊💙🌊💙🌊💙🌊💙🌊I do admire Sir William Wallace! 🤗
My family is descended from Clan Grant. I don’t know if we have any ghost stories, but I do have a funny story. My boyfriend is a descendant of Clan Shaw. Turns out our clans had some beef. At one point in history, the Grant chief killed the Shaw chief. Whenever the Shaws tried to bury their chief, the Grants would dig up his body and leave it at the Shaws’ front door. But later on I think the Grants sold the Shaws a castle, or maybe it was the other way around, so I guess things turned out fine? 😅
MacBain and Bruce clan and that goes way way back. Married in Shewan and from that side I know there were members of the Black Watch. Other than that I know nothing but this is all so very interesting. 🐝
A Campbell married my grandmother a Murdoch and it was disaster. He died bombing the Germans from his bomber and my mother ended up in an Orphanage and had a bad upbringing. which led to crazier things. The Campbell curse is real. TBH I am surprised not to see the Murdochs on this list as well.
