I'm doing research on Stage2 reviews. btw -I also replace my oil between 3k-3.5k. 2016 WRX Limited with Sports package. Thanks for the video. Love the sound!
boost seems to come on much quicker and then it kind of evens out instead of bouncing around a little bit like it does on the stock tune. Thanks for the video !
just got a bunch of mods on my car the past week, we did the tgv/egr & perrin ebcs, process west khanacooler top mount, and the charge pipe, went to put the downpipe on and the fkin first stud we touched snapped, took it to another garage tonight and they were finally able to get it out after about 3 hours of labor trying to weld a nut on it and torching it with welder, it was HORRIBLE good luck to whoever has to do the jpipe on their WRX because those studs are no joke! Going for my protune tomorrow at TPG, car is a whole new animal even on the low boost base tune TPG sent me. Now if only our rods & transmissions weren't so weak I'd just go e85 and be over 400whp .. lol for now I'll stick around 330-340whp nice car dude.
Josh Moore thanks brother. That is a very nice set up your running. I know all about the damn bolt lol had Mercedes techs tackle it for about 6hrs or more lol. Yes def keep it under 400 for reliably.
the music was way too loud at the start lol . do you still have the wrx man ? i'm booked in to get a invidia j pipe with hi flow cat and pro tune this week from stock .How much faster does it feel?
Great man I'm excited for you. I sold that car a few years back. it will feel slower kinda at first because the boost will be much more even that all at once like it is factory. But it will feel way smoother.
Alex S I only keep my cars no more than usually 2 years. The great part about buying popular cars and parts is you can pull them off and resale for a great price. Get the majority of your money back.
nice setup, just got my first wrx and doing some research prior to doing a few bolt ons. Are you in the West Palm Beach area? I could swear i saw a car like yours on jog rd.
Hey mate, great vid. About your exhaust set up - did you get the STI AXLEBACK SPT EXHAUST MUFFLER / GrimmSpeed Catted J-Pipe and that's all, correct? Also, how do you like the GrimmSpeed intake? I have on my 2017 WRX Cobb intake, but it gets pretty hot summer time. I've heard that the stock one is actually pretty good, so I'm thinking to convert back to stock or maybe get the GrimmSpeed one. Thanks, Subscribed
I see that you have the STI center console installed. I will be picking up a 2018 Subaru WRX Limited shortly and the cup holders with sliding cover is also something that I would want to do. How was the install? Direct swap?
FlickOfTheWrist Awesome thank you very much. To make life easier for me to you happen to know the part numbers? I can't find a full center console online for sale so may have to order from the dealership.
Just fixed all those same lights on my dash after Intake install they came on shooting P0113 AITS High Circuit Voltage.. it’s actually an issue with the MAF Sensor extension that gets sent to you one of the pins inside the connector is actually loose... have to go in and fix it if that’s the code you are shooting.
So I have a couple questions, 1. Has throttle response improved from stock? 2. Does the clutch slip at all? Any rod issues? I should just ask do you have anxiety about using as a daily drive or do you ever worry about pushing it? 3. What does 0-60 look like on a good day? Lastly, do you have any complaints now since the making of this video? Anything you wish was different?
Blake Klis the throttle response is a huge difference as well as where the clutch releases at. No more rev hang which makes it so much smoother. No my clutch never slipped at that power range. If I pushed the horse power any further then yes it prob would have. There's always a though in the back of your mind about issues that could happen if it is your daily. I have put over 30k miles on mine and luckily have been fine. It all depends on the car and driver. Just take very good care of your maintenance and do it a little early to check for any excess wear. That's just a few of my own opinions. Good luck
I would guess at the making of this video the car is making about 270ish whp. The boost sound clearly points out that the 3 way boost controller isn't working correctly ie not tuned right. It also has the stock intercooler which is restrictive and needs opened up to make over 300 whp. With a high flow intercooler and dyno tuning since you have the tgv deletes your' looking at about 320 whp when done.
wow! you're in FL where it's always warm and your stock Dunlops are still good AND you autocross with them!?! Mine were fried just before 30k with spirited daily driving up north where we get al 4 seasons with no autocross. Stock brakes need to go IMO too for harsher driving as well. Hmm... RCE yellows are awesome, got some myself. Will sub!
350 is very achievable on stock turbo with not much more than Stage 2. I've seen cars put down 330whp completely stock engine/turbo/exhaust/everything , just a Accessport and Pro Tune with flex fuel
1gsrtom, exactly, a lot of shit talkers, mine's maxing 300 with stage 2 protune and other mods. yes some others get lucky but without E85, no way it's safe
Either I just have bad luck or a really harsh dyno because I'm full bolt ons with a protune for 21psi and I'm only pushing like 263whp. I had 192whp stock though.
Xsaitama Mrwise I would hit up drp performance and have Mikey or Ron tune it. There not always in Florida so you need to schedule when they are here. You can message them on Facebook
Dude get an actual short throw, that STI one is garbage and almost no difference from a standard throw. I got a Kartboy short kit with the Perrin shift stop, and its sick. I would go with Kartboy because it uses a ball bearing where as the Perrin short throw is going to implement a bushing that will eventually go bad.
I've done some research and it looks like as long you keep your boost lvl at no more than 21lbs the rods hold ok. IDK if anyone else has seen this to be true.
I read somewhere that the stock clutch is only good for up to 200 Hp. I know mine has always slipped whenever I hit max boost 21 psi in 4th gear or higher and my 2015 WRX is stock. I'm installing a clutch kit rated for up to 400 Hp. I watched another video where they claim to be running a stock clutch with 550 WHp as tested on a chassis dyno. I don't believe their claims about the clutch at all unless they mean the clutch disc and not the pressure plate. I could see running a heavy duty racing pressure plate good for 650 Hp and a stock-replacement street disc for better street driving.
I see you've seen the 0-60s, but longer gearing from the glass 5 speed they used in previous gen WRXs is why, but everything outside of that the new FA20 is in every way faster. 2015+ stage 2+ WRXs are faster than Stage2+ STIs LMFAO
