Yeah. Weirdly I only owned a 360, so I couldn't relate to any of the Halo 3/4 ones, but was aware of the pc port issues with CE and 2, because I've spent a good amount of hours watching people break them apart and compare to originals. Still, with Mandela there definitely were people who *only* ever heard of him as having died in a prison, and nothing else, so this is kind of even closer to reality than the true definition of Mandela effect.
Something about remembering the fog on CE brought a tear to my eye. I was 10, my brother was 14 and we would take the banshees up to the fog and fight each other. My childhood
I agree with you, but I prefer the Reach one. I am missing the old Bungee menus with all the details on the background and stuff. It was way easier to navigate in them too MCC is ok, but it's no where near as good as those who were made by Bungee.
I feel like the H2 menu in new graphics looks nice. But frankly I don't think any menu has looked as good as CE to me, maybe because the Halo ring being circled is just so memorable.
The dead elite talking I always thought that was someone talking through comms or something and never questioned it. If I new it was him talking I would of atleast thanked him for the energy sword and payed my respects
@@JuanMartinez-vr7bg I'm with you. The other thing I always found baffling is how robust models and effects are in CE, and how watered down they seemed to be after the transition to 2/3. The pistol, AR, Sniper etc all feel weighty and packing a real punch in CE, somehow losing that feeling in the subsequent games. Enemies too. If you take the flood for example, they feel so powerful in CE, and then in 2 they suddenly become really frail disintegrating into dust whenever you shoot them. grenades are not as impactful sfx wise, same goes for blood and bullet hole decals etc. Textures always looked super washed out in 2 especially compared to CE
@@JuanMartinez-vr7bg imo the characters all look worse (especially the jackals. Yeesh) but the environments, weapons, vehicles all look nicer and higher definition. Im specifically a huge fan of new mombasa's design - it's really neat in both the new and old graphics
The Keyes in the Gearbox port was changed for a funny reason too. Gearbox accidentally used Bungie's beta model for Keyes instead of the finished model. If I'm correct both models exist in the game files.
@@SUPERFunStick More than likely because they needed to use a lower res model for the original Xbox port. Just a shame Gearbox broke a lot of post processing effects and such with their port.
@@chrisfranklinguitar7105 I wish there was a better version of CE anniversary, one where the assets are original and aren’t from either halo 3 or halo reach
@@chrisfranklinguitar7105 mostly it's the fog effects and shaders. Even the jackal and stationary energy shields have them broken. It's embarassing how 343 still hasn't bothered to fix these issues after all these years when some modders have been able to.
@@chrisfranklinguitar7105 Because it uses the Gearbox PC port, which is itself a bad port, as a basis instead of the OG Xbox version. Gearbox basically gutted the game during the porting process because they had literally no idea what they were doing, and they haven't learned anything over the past 18 years since then, a prime example of this is Aliens: Colonial Marines.
The dead talking elite is actually telling you this with his dying breath. Recently, after playing through the halo 2 campaign on the OG Xbox, I thought about it, and then when the brutes were patrolling, you can hear the first one shooting a body (if you're fast enough you can see it) basically finishing off the elites
Yes, but he wasn't talking about that, the mandela effect there is that people remember the mouth moving when they speak when they never did and you had to hit the body for the mouth to start moving. He only showed the chinese version to show the subtitles to prove that the elites talk.
Let me see if I remember this correctly: was it the one with an obvious outline of Master Chief's helmet and with a visible skull in it? I do recall watching something like that.
Social Slayer in Halo 3 was 4v4 when it released, it was upped to 5v5 later on, in the same update that added social ranks to the game (originally there were only ranked ranks, the gold ones, the white social ranks were added around when ODST came out)
I remember this update. Everyone's rank (experience rank) got set back to recruit right before it launched. Little teenage me almost had a heart attack xD
The original Grunt Birthday Party skull worked on dead bodies too, you could shoot the head of a corpse and make a plasma grenade explosion. It was probably changed because it made the game really easy, you could take out an entire squad of Covenant by shooting one Grunt in the head and any that didn't die the first time just shoot the same dead Grunt again to finish them off. Good times.
Something similar that is possible in MCC is Halo CE with Cowbell and Grunt Funeral. Grunts explode like plasmas, but since it's Halo CE, they only explode when they come to rest. This leads to massive chain reactions of flying and exploding Grunts, most certainly killing everything in the room and maybe you as well. It's good fun!
The biggest mess up i had was when i learned the H3 Deployable Cover actually lets bullets pass out through it. 13 years and I never once noticed or heard about it...
Similarly, the drop shield from Reach will allow you to shoot out of it (I am fairly certain about this, although I find myself uncertain now since it's been a VERY long while since I've tested this out).
I always assumed the "dead talking elite" was just arbiter monologuing. and like half of this stuff I never noticed because me and my dudes even though we've replayed missions almost hundreds of times, we ran through them with such speed and efficiency the only time we stopped was to get ammo XD
I thought it was Arbiter talking too, cause that elite looks dead as shit. I was confused how the Arbiter knew the brutes had killed the elite council just cause he saw some generic dead elites. I thought the generic elite corpses at the start of the mission had to be the council then, in which case why were they killed there of all places? Now it all makes sense.
it was broken but really fun to use, especially in flood levels since that explosion actually do splash damage to other enemies, breaking their bodies most of the cases, it also damages weak enemies like infection forms and grunts
I have this mandela effect where i swear, as a kid remember in Halo CE’s “the maw” when chief runs to the longsword fighter, he pushes some flood out of the way as they were catching up
Videos like these are living proof that you need to write scripts for RU-vid videos for them to be of any quality: “You actually ummm yeah actually I umm *breathes into mic* it’s actually coz you’re remembering it wrong so yeah um they don’t *swallows spit* they remember it differently”
That was bothering me the whole video. So many words spoken that were just unnecessary. Even to the point of still continuing with the umming and ah'ing when the next 'memory' was rolling along.
The Captain Keyes one really bugs me. From what I understand, Gearbox accidentally set the wrong texture for Keyes when doing the port. It's the beta texture, and the Xbox correct texture is still in the files. How this hasn't been fixed yet is so strange.
From what I saw between the MCC OG graphics vs what I saw with Dee bee Geek's video of him playing the OG Halo Combat Evolved, as far as I've seen, there doesn't seem to be a difference with the two models.
This got me feeling some type of way tbh.. I still remember when halo 2 was shut down 10 years ago. On that day I thought about when the same would come for halo 3. Well now here it is
As someone with 4500 exp in social slayer on the OG Halo 3, allow me to correct #10. Social Slayer was 4v4 (back when shotty snipers would commonly come up in the playlist) until they switched it to 5v5 when they added the exp ranks next to your name in all the different playlists. I promise you that is what happened. I’ll never forget that. In fact, that is when the social Skirmish playlist was 5v5 instead. They literally swapped the 5v5 aspect out of Skirmish into Social Slayer in like 08 or early 09. Great video brother. Keep it up. 🖤
I was gonna say that I thought I remember a time when it was 4v4 but then at some point they changed it to 5v5... glad someone commented this and it’s cool that you remember specifically when it was changed
Halo 3 multi player software dynamics was the saddest, most easy moded for a 10 year old, that has ever been created. Thank the Gods that they came out with Reach Afterwards.
The thing I remember most and miss the most about old school Halo were the physics for the warthogs. If you rammed into one with another, one of them we're both of them would go flipping through the air. My friends and I even had a game mode that we played using the warthogs. We would take them out on the ice and do demolition derby. The rule was no shooting of course and if you flipped somebody out of the warthog, you could try and splatter them before they get back in. It was loads of fun. We just called it warthogs on ice
Hey General, I've played Tsavo Highway more than any Halo 3 player. It's my all time favorite mission and accross multiple accounts I have probably over a thousand hours on that level. The Marine definitely used to have a visible scanner, idk how or why thats different. It's been a few months since I've played Halo in general but last I checked he had a scanner.
No he never did, and your +1000 hours on that mission doesn't matter. Your mind places in what should be a scanner without you actually taking a good hard look at the scene. I would know, I'm your brain. We didn't see it.
Tbh I always imagine what it would be like for people booting up halo 2 for the first time and then deciding to play CO-OP, they would miss the whole scene of the arbiter on trial and have the game start out at the reward ceremony where they would watch a random Elite get stripped naked and tortured with no context whatsoever.
That's because it's the PC Gearbox port that got rid of allot of effects for some reason. There is whole a video about it. Type in gearbox halo broken port.
they will never get there. And then more I play the Anniversary games, the less I like them when I realize how much was changed with the art style and lighting. They totally kill the spooky and mysterious atmosphere of Halo CE and Halo 2.
@@MotorCityPhoenix313 First, I am confident that with continued work they'll restore each game to 100% parity with the originals. Second, just play in classic graphics. That's what I do. I haven't played Halo: CEA with the anniversary graphics since my Xbox 360 run.
@@MotorCityPhoenix313 Halo 2 Anniversary flat out improves on atmosphere in every situation lol. Like sure there's some areas in Halo CE where it's less dark and spooky (like 343 Guilty Spark's jungle,) and the Library (though that one was because the Library was a terrible level and lighting it up was all they could do from a simple remaster to mitigate how bad it was.) But every single area where it's supposed to be "spooky and mysterious" in Halo 2, it's just as dark if not darker. People need to stop this meme that actual dynamic lighting and shadows kill atmosphere, because it's never true. Any "atmosphere," you're imagining being gone in Halo 2 is literally because of graphical limitations of the time.
Co-op on those missions was never possible i remember that clear as day because when id play with friends i would load up in SP first to show them that opening and then load back into co-op. Data pad thing in H3 was also always invisible
I just played the campaign with my friend a few weeks ago. We played both of those missions. It just spawns a second Banshee in Heretic. I don't entirely remember what it did for The Armory, but I think it was just showing my screen until I finished the scanner thing and then he spawned in.
I remember watching a video a while talking about how poorly ported the original Halos 1 and 2 to MCC were. There were many visual effects that looked better on the original xbox, or just flat out omitted. Kinda sad if we wanna play with og graphics, we have to deal with a lifeless environment sometimes
The marine at the start of tsavo highway does that on purpose. A data pad was stolen by the first elite you can encounter in reach on legendary. Noble 6 marked the data pad for pickup, but nobody actually went to retrieve it, so the marines facetiously pretend to use one for lack of actual equipment.
Halo reach is a different game to Halo 3 though. I doubt the lack of supplies from before the esistance of Master Chief would effect the Halo 3 marines
The keys model for the gearbox pc port is due to Bungie giving gearbox earlier build material to work with instead of the final release material. Whether it was a accident or one of Bungie's instances of hating 3rd party intervention in halo (with the novel initially and halo wars 1's devs)
TheDapperCat mostly that but some things were either not possible in the change in hardware or were removed due to errors caused by said older build code (namely the jackal shields which was due to even code in the older builds not being intact)
Gearbox's terrible port of halo ce was a sign of their future mistakes such as colonel marines, battleborn, the writing of bordeelands 3, randy pitchfrod still working at gearbox.
At that time pretty much all Gearbox did were ports, PC to console and vice-versa. Most of those ports were actually pretty damn good, Half-Life on PS2 being a prime example. Halo PC is an exception rather than the rule.
heads up, the 'hang on!' line was there because iirc in 2016-2017 MCC H2A Campaign had the Day at the Beach cutscene play right there. That line would have been the Sergeant of 2nd squad.
I was looking for this comment, I remember its the same VA as that sergeant, he also makes his way to ark with us in H3 and calls out for all armor to form up on the chief after going through the wall towards the cartographer iirc, when you take the gauss hog to go around the corner to get your scorpion back, right before the scarab
I have a personal Mandela Effect with one of the Halo 3 cutscenes; the one after the first mission, right after the power goes out and the Prophet rants at the humans. See, I could have sworn that back when I first played it on Xbox 360, after Chief asks, "does he usually mention me?" that Sergeant Johnson replied with, "only when he's angry, so, yes." But no apparently Johnson responding to Chief there was never part of the cutscene, like, ever? I don't know why I remember it being that way, but it's so vivid in my memory.
YES JOHNSON SAYS THAT 100% IVE PLAYED HALO 3 more times than ANYONE in the world and I VIVIDLY remember Johnson saying that line. I have NO idea why its not in MCC
I can confidently say I've never forgotten the missing lights on Hang Em' High and I'm actually confident (and always have been) that it was a very intentional change. Having the lights was actually incredibly annoying because you'd have to jump over them, otherwise you'd get stuck. That wasn't the ONLY instance of a change in the map in PC CE either. The more blatant one of course is the addition of arrows on Sidewinder along with two way teleporters to the base. A more subtle that I don't think many remember is that on Battle Creek you could fit through the base windows on the sides which you could not on Gearbox onwards. I will say though that having actually popped my OG CE disc into my 360 recently stuff like the fog and Keyes are STILL easy to miss. The Jackal shields on the other hand are really easy to notice. I'll also say that I did not know the elite's jaws moved if you hit him on Uprising; I knew he said the line but I was never sure it was hi cuz I never saw his mouth move. And lastly I'll say the change in the Grunt Birthday Party skull is a tradgedy because the original was fun as hell. I actually remember learning that Flood combat forms have "heads" specifically because of that skull so I've never forgotten how it worked originally and I've always been bummed by how it's never worked like that SINCE then. In fact since 343 seems to like adding skulls it'd be nice if they tossed in a Classic Grunt Birthday Party skull in.
@@ShadowDragon-cw7wb Was there a change in sounds for PC? I thought it was only CEA that changed them. Spinning weapons I was certain was always thing in CE; The physics as far as I know are identical between Xbox and PC onwards except for PAL xbox which is weird.
@@ChouRaiyuki As far as I remember, weapons getting stuck in a spinning animation on slopes wasn't an original Xbox thing and the sound effects were changed in CEA. They fixed the grunt dialogue in MCC from CEA so they don't say the same two lines.
@@ShadowDragon-cw7wb weapon spinning glitch is definitely from OG H1 and is still current in every halo title to this day. It is simply a geometric collision glitch where the gun is trying to always lay flat on whatever surface it's on but is placed on a convex that is in no way flat and cannot "lay flat" on the surface it's on, so the collision of the object will continuesly "try" to lay flat until it does.
This video brought back so much nostalgia I want to cry Lots and lots of lost friends... whoever my old halo buddies are... I hope your still slaying as you did back then
I remember that when I played Halo 1 as a child, Captain Keyes was in one of the pelicans at the start of the fourth mission, but its not... I dont know if is a mandala effect or just the og xbox reusing some models like with sgt. Johnson.
It was, and this guy is wrong about there not being confetti. There absolutely was, but it was not like the glowy orb stuff shown here. It was 2d sprite confetti.
@@GldnClaw that’s what confused me to, I had save file for it and would grab it and the Sputnik skull then replay missions for fun and don’t remember the exploding AI’s
I hope Halo 2 cairo station on splitscreen is here. I remember doing the green and red light movement with a friend but I was told it wasn't split screen Edit: literally the first one!!!!!
@@kabob0077 Hardly any Halo games, including Halo 2, allow co-op in campaign with more than 2 players--the original Xbox and Xbox 360's hardware simply couldnt handle it. So that's a false memory too.
I'm actually freaking out about this, like, not to long ago I got pissed at my brother for killing me there and he remembers that too. What the fuck is going on.
Another thing I remember that never seemed to work in Halo 2 and Halo 3 MCC: You were able to carry weapons between missions. I recall that happening between Mombasa Streets and Metropolis, and between Tsavo Highway and The Storm most prominently, but those were not the only mission "duos" where that happened.
It only worked for some missions, but it was a thing. I specifically remember re-arming before triggering the mission end to carry a particular weapon with me into the next mission, and only if you immediately continued to the next level. Could also place things in the ending cutscenes for cool or funny effect.
There's no fuckin way about that first one, I still can remember my brother and I pushing crates in Armory to wedge it between the doors of the elevator. There's no fuckin way co op never existed.
I vividly remember playing splitscreen on armory with my cousin to try to push master gunns into the zapper but turns out that couldn't have been possible since no version of Halo 2 actually supported co op for Armory or Heretic
I have a vivid memory of me and my brother doing the exact same thing. But, then again, I think I also remember being confused about the not being able to start the armory on co-op. So now I am just confused.
3:33 his mouth absolutely moves. I remember it so clearly, this was my favorite mission and I played it at least 300 times and I remember that at least half of the times his mouth moved. I also remember talking about it with my cousins and stepbrother separate times when the game first came out because of how strange it was.
in Reach, i was 110% sure Kat gets shot by a Jackal, which you see in close-up... turns out it’s a wide shot that barely reveals an elite Field Marshal was the sniper
In the beginning of Two Betrayals, when Guilty Spark asked Chief if something is wrong, I vividly remember Chief saying, “No, everything is just fine.” But apparently he says “No, nothing.”
The lights in hang’em high are annoying as hell so I’m glad they’re gone, the trench should be a smooth transition because being there in the first place is already risky enough considering you’re out in the open.
Yeah, I never enjoyed that section of the map when playing with friends on the Xbox, but the PC version made it more tolerable, although it definitely does look worse as a result.
I think that was a conscientious design decision to change it for the PC port and not a bug precisely because the lip made the trench way more dangerous than it needed to be.
#1 is true af. It blew my mind a year ago when I introduced my friend to halo 2 and we could not co-op those mission. Just as you said I had vivid memories of doing them with 2 players before.
For me it was always in Metropolis in halo 2. When you meet get banks on the balcony the Sarah comes in and steps over the building and then the rest of the mission plays out and you kill the scarab. When the Sarah walks over the building your standing on it knocks down a pole thing and it will randomly call but for some reason every time I played the mission (it still happens almost always for me) the pole crushes him and kills him. So for a very long time I thought he was scripted to die there until my brother told me it doesn't happen for him lol
yeah the marine CO doesn't die on the OG xbox version but for some reason the scarab always catches the pole when it climbs up the building in the MCC.
Idk where the world went I miss the glory days of halo where this shit was top competitor with cod the game I grew up on died out n it’s like my childhood did to like the halo community needs more RU-vidrs to spend my time on
those Halo 2 OG Xbox vs the MCC graphic comparisons always impress me (dare I say, blow me away.) I had absolutely no idea that the ''return to sender'' cutscene had such detailed lighting, which makes me wonder if it applies to other cutscenes or gameplay I would love if you'd someday do an extensive comparison video on the subject, it just sounds so interesting
I know this would be close to impossible to test... But would it be peossible "some" update broke certain things, like the scanner? Maybe a base copy not patched has the hand scanner working, or perhaps a updated copy. Worse. Maybe a patch in the middle of the life cycle made it work, but pre patch and post patch had it broken... Lots of things can have that dumbness happen.
Don't know about the Halo 3 scanner, but everything else is in base versions with no updates. My xbox has never been online and I confirmed everything from halo CE and 2. Heed likely deleted all updates as well.
that 1st one is crazy because i literally have the memory of me and my best friend playing through *every* halo 2 mission coop. down to us getting mad at eachother for dying constantly in the beginning
@@coolness124321 Unfortunately the Gearbox Port had one massive advantage. It was already online ready, whereas the original would need a ton more hoops to be jumped through to make it work. Still, apparently they know about the discrepancies in lighting and shaders and are working on them according to their list of known issues (which so far has been a solid basis for their patches and fixes,) I imagine it's probably a much bigger job than most fixes though since at this point most other issues with the MCC are minor.
According to Late Night Gaming, Gearbox might have used aCaptain Keys model from an older version of the game before Bungie replaced it with a higher quality model.
Sure I could get excited now about... free to play multiplayer, microtransactions, halo2-tier graphics, uh... killing Cortana again, not having an stable antagonist, years gap between games with the important stuff in an incomplete comic. Another cliffhanger I guess. If Infinite sucks the series will die
@@bigmammaschughouse9691 I like how you say "fuck mcc," when the comment you responded to had nothing to do with MCC. It was about the more disappointing direction the non MCC games appear to be going (that technically started with Halo 4, but really became a big problem with Halo 5.) For all intents and purposes, MCC's differences at this point are extremely small and being worked on regularly. The only people who are actually convinced they're game breaking just don't want to acknowledge the newer re-releases of games being better than the old ones they have nostalgia for. Not to mention: 1. Halo 2's Servers were shut off years ago. 2. Halo 3, Reach and 4 get like maybe sub 1000 players online at peak times if they're lucky, whereas MCC gets like 10x that easily. 3. Not only was it a 30fps game instead of 60fps, but the controls were just flat out worse in older entries too, offering significantly less customization to button layouts, look sensitivity and had no options to set deadzones at all so you were stuck with the old extremely large deadzones. Nevermind the awkward aim acceleration zones for every Halo before 4 (that you can also toggle in MCC if you want the legacy feel.) Oh yeah you can get used to it after playing with it long enough, we all did, but it's just flat out wrong to say the miles better customization MCC offers isn't objectively superior. 4. The old servers are literally obsolete, before MCC the series operated on Peer-to-peer instead of dedicated servers that MCC does. The latter is just flat out better. People need to stop pretending the MCC servers are worse when they fixed them ages ago, if these were the Launch MCC servers where they had tons of issues you'd maybe have a point, but they aren't.
@@Robbie_Haruna MCC is fantastic, honestly. Even with these bugs, it puts 6 working games under one roof and manages to get them all to work together. There are some really fun (and terrible) achievements and endless things to do. MCC is one of the best things to happen to Halo. Never has it been this easy to host custom games and have so much access to so many different games. You don't have to change disks, or games, just move to a different menu and have access to a bunch of other custom games. The only things that I hope for are a better file share system and custom game browser, which is coming hopefully in the next update since it's in the upcoming flight. It might have taken a long time for MCC to be really worth it, but damn, it's really good now.
maybe im misremembering but wasnt there a rocket launcher next to the dead marine in the room before the banshee bridge in assault on the control room? i dunno if thats false memory or MCC/pc port messed that up.
There's A launcher earlier in the mission but in the room before the bridge is some Hunters and rocket ammo packs. I haul that launcher through the whole way just to shoot a banshee before the elite can get in so I can fly it.
You just remember playing the campaign together from the “beginning” (where it allows you to start on co-op), and this combined with your memories of having played it so many times by yourself (and/or with friends over) blends together. Still interesting though, I guess allot of us had really similar experiences.
Exactly, this video actually reminded me that you don't start until the third mission which is definitely true, I can remember in 2006 that my brother and I would play it constantly and even discussed the skipped levels. You're exactly right with the memory thing, people will have blended their solo and co-op memory's, after all it has been over 15 years for most xx
@@dennythejet4284 Yeah, armory is interactive like the very start of CE that also gets cut if you load co-op. setting up your look controls and shield test
The funny thing about the Grunt Birthday Party skull was that if you combined it with the Cowbell skull you'd send every enemy into the stratosphere whenever you killed them because the effect was made by a plasma grenade explosion.
Envy Skull glitch on OG Halo 2, doesn't work on MCC because skulls are enabled in the main menu. As Master Chief, if you are cloaked when you hit a check point, save/quit and reload, you'd be invisible the rest of the mission. Sniper jackals on Legendary became the target.
The grunt birthday party one is super weird I played hours of Halo 2, with that skull on. I remember confetti. It's even in the name grunt birthday party, confetti like at a birthday party and it only effects grunts.
When I was playing though halo reach, I found that on the mission "The Package," after you fight to the half way point and go through the bunker in the mountain and fight the enemies after that, the elites and the fight against the hunters was taken out completely only to go head into the elevator for the fight and get to Halsey
some of these arnt Mandela effects, theyre just changes between OG and MCC. a Mandela effect is like how in Halo 2, the pistol was ALWAYS the Halo 2 pistol, but i remember it as the Halo 1 pistol.
No, that's not a mandela effect. For a mandela effect, you need more than just yourself misremembering a thing. Not just you. The Halo 2 pistol was changed over a year before release when they released that gameplay footage and chief was using a new black pistol and everybody lost their minds, which caused Bungie to explain that they had to nerf the og pistol because it was way too powerful, and they gave us the battle rifle in it's place. Literally nobody else on earth remembers the Halo 1 pistol in Halo 2.... Unless you're referring to the supposed "hidden Halo 1 pistol" rumors which were just that, rumors, and there never was the og pistol in Halo 2. Ever.
11:57 This one always makes me sigh. Modders have actually fixed alot of these. (including this one) But it's frustrating because you can't use the changed .map files because MCC anti-cheat freaks out. It's literally been like 19 years. -_-
@@TheAdamGore Ah right, yeah it's certainly not ideal that almost all Halo mods have to be so tied to the .map files themselves. Hopefully that limitation can be better worked with in the future by having mod/vanilla patching for .map files as an official feature in MCC PC, or something like that.
A crazy one I see is people completely forget that Halo 2 Legendary will revert a checkpoint in co-op if one person dies- and no, it wasn't added in MCC it was like this on OG too.
From a story telling perspective it is supposed to be that elite on the ground, you literally come right after they kill the elites in cold blood. So he is on his dying breath telling the arbiter that they were betrayed.
