Hi Adam, it was great seeing you riding to the woods with the ebikes. I literally just sold my e-bike this morning because I wasn't riding it as I'm always riding my S18, LOL.

Great points & solid video! Going off road on an EUC is more fun and exciting for me than being on the road, but both are fun. Fun is relative, but it's abundant by riding EUCs. I find that going off road has also helped me develop my riding skills more quickly.

I too have found that an hour or so in the woods levels me up so much quicker than many more miles on roads and paths. I'm pretty new to riding EUC, so the journey to the woods isn't the most confident, but on my way back home I feel like I'm flying in my shoes 😂
@Simplicitywins
@Simplicitywins 2 года назад
@@jimbobinski I'm relatively new to EUC as well - it has been awesome. The fact that riding & gliding is so enjoyable, makes preparing for the danger... fun. I think us wheelheads all have that in common. For sure, the skills we build at slow speeds & different surfaces is monumentally important. Sand has been the most challenging for me, but the fat tire of the Sherman is butter on it.

Can confirm forest walk paths are a full work out and challenge on a euc. Beware of pedals hitting your ankle and thorn bushes grabbing your leg. The first steep down hill I tried send my shoe and euc flying forward and me on my bum. Don't even know how but I guess I got some learning to do LOL
@TimLake
@TimLake 2 года назад
Point 12 about skill is an interesting one. What we all take for granted is that we learned to ride a bike as a kid. Going from that to an ebike and offroading is just a development of the skill you already have. EUCs require learning from scratch so it feels harder to get started and a longer path to being capable off-road. It would be interesting to see what someone who has never ridden a bike finds easier out of the two.

This is all so true. I did cover a few of the point too. Any mid range e-bike here in the UK is going to cost you between £4500 to £6000 and then its limited to 15mph. You also need a special towbar to carry it and the standard one does not support the weight. It all adds up in cost. Then keeping the bike serviced is another cost where the EUC is pretty cheap to run all year round. Awesome video.

So apparently the tire we call offroad knobby in EUC community is a 50/50 type tire, half road half offroad. Cause I just installed a dirt bike knobby on my 16x, it sucks ass on the street but I can go in any mud, so to his point about riding e-bikes in the mud over EUC... it's all about the tire. The grip is insane and 16x is a perfect wheel for it.

I have been recently running with a local crew who does off road trails at sunset/night time and it has been a blast. From now on, I highly encourage riders to try off roading if they haven’t already, but you make a good point that spiked pedals, pads, and some wheel armor would be ideal before venturing out. Fun at any speed, no need to go fast to get that rush. I have noticed your use of calling EUCs “electric wheels” during your topic points, which I like! Always the ever discussion of what to call these wonder devices. E-dubs coming through.
@7belair

Great video! Not the most extreme one, but explains well what to expect when going off-road with the EUC. I've been doing EUC off-road about 2 years, mostly with my Gotway MSP. Sometimes on my own, sometimes with my MTB friends and once together with @BossManaatti, in Tallinn Estonia. For me it is 3 kinds of off-road: 1) EUC-cross-country 2) MTB-singles with EUC 3) EUC park-riding. The first one is, say 30-50km long trips, riding as fast as possible on off-road tracks and trails (xc ski tracks, MTB-marathon tracks etc, (however mostly not downhill)) that are on varying landscapes, sometimes a bit technical, a few jumps, drops. Mostly I can ride at least 25km/h, up to 50-60km/h, average around 35-40km/h. MTB-singles are much slower, with a lot of technical elements, steep hills, obstacles, jumps, drops, where you can average below 20km/h. This is the most exhausting and challenging for me. So riding once or twice a 4-10km single track equals a 40-50km "marathon". Park-riding and doing small-air, big-air, whatever-air, rails etc in Mike Leahy or Fantomas style is something I am just starting out. Flying 4-5 meters on the wheel is my current max. Don't know if I want to go any further :) You may want to add a 4th category here, that I call city off-road. Use your imagination. Comparing EUC with MTB or e-bike, the biggest differences for me are the pedal height, wheel diameter, and the number of wheels. These 3 things make the most of difference. Comparing EUC with regular MTB, you almost always win with EUC, IF and IF, you have no big obstacles, rocks, roots or mud/sand. EUC simply has more power going uphill or accelerating and of course top speed. Fighting down-hill battle with MTB, almost always EUC loses - 2 wheels simply give so much better control. Technical riding - it depends on obstacles, but in my practice, it can be 40:60, the MTB having the upper hand, because of the 3 differences I mentioned. E-bike like BossManaatti has, or any other similar, has most of the advantages of MTB over EUC plus the power. So in most cases E-bike dominates over EUC in off-road riding. Except 1) the weight factor. In many cases the e-bike may get a bit too heavy and cumbersome to handle. And 2) the fun factor, that I believe can be a lot more with the EUC.
@anarchosnarx799
@anarchosnarx799 2 года назад
I'm now into what will be my third year of being PEV-only in regards to my transportation, and I have to say that I couldn't do it if I wasn't using *both* an EUC *and* an e-bike. The EUC (MSX 100v/1860wh) is my tiny little mid-life-crises sports car. I use it for fun, and for all trips where I'm not going to be hauling anything but ass. My e-bike (Biktrix Juggernaut Duo) is my SUV - it hauls less ass than the EUC, but more groceries.

I love riding off-road, no suspension so I feel the trails under my feet and that's the best. Good workout too. Trails also provide a better feeling of speed (even at lower speeds), since you usually fly pretty close to trees and rocks. Falling is less catastrophic for you and the wheel as well, so that's a plus. Actually, it's often pretty exciting to crash with good gear.

I prefer tarmac, but I like to go where I want, so off road has to be on the menu, I just slow down a bit. I have a S18 so the track can get pretty rough, it's just the rougher it gets the slower I have to go. I put th NyloNove pedals on my 16X, I'm still considering them for the S18 but they aren't currently available anyway.

Personally I don't understand what is the reason to buy powerful electric bicycle over motorcycle as it has all the downsides of motorcycle like size, weight, higher cost, necessary maintaining of the brakes and so on... But in addition to all downsides of a motorcycle - electric bike adds LOOOONG charging time to the total picture. If you want fast, compact, long range transportation that is also capable of doing some lite offroads - go for EUC. If you're hardcore offroader - go for gasoline dirtbike, it has more power, in "charges" in 3 minutes from empty to full, has better suspension and bigger wheels.
@-meganeura
@-meganeura 2 года назад
You cant compare the weight of a dirtbike to something like a Kuberg Freeride or Ranger but you definitely can compare power, and the instant torque of an electric bike is something that can only be felt, yes Ebikes have higher initial cost but almost no maintenance comparing to gasoline dirtbike, charging times also not so much of a problem full charge of the Ranger is 2h I can wait that no problemo :D also the silence in the nature is priceless.

Budżet do 1000£

The number of EUC owners is growing rapidly. I don't understand why you only make videos about expensive wheels? When I want to buy a car for the first time, I don't watch videos about Ferraris and Bugattis. Please make reviews about wheels for less than 1000 Euros also.

Even for a beginner you're better off saving up for something around 2000 with these cheaper wheels as soon as you get confident (which won't take long) your going to want something bigger faster and more capable, best to get something you can grow with

@@euctheeast3902 Yes, because of that i bought 2000 Eur EUC. But lots of EUC new users dont buy EUC for fun. They buy because it is alternative transport equipment. 2km to work and back you dont need V12 or Veteran Sherman.

Think how much more professional it would sound if you say "wrong way" in a normal cadence.
