Carpenter’s mouth of madness in the most faithfull of all movies in lovecraft LEGACY… Dark and with no escape… So deep. And btw, this movie is not underratted😜
Imagine if the environmental manipulating cosmic being from the film Annihilation encountered the assimilating cosmic creature from the film "The Thing", interesting collision.
Honestly E I consider Carpenter's Thing as Cthulhu Mythos (sorry I'm old I personally like this term... sorry) Horror it definitely fits the qualifications
Dagon is a real good movie, the denizens of the village was very unsettling the noises they make, the way they move, and there appearance. I highly recommend it if you have not seen it.
I watch in the mouth of madness last night I don't see how it wasn't a number one hit. The perfect movie for lovecraft fans, and the actors they used made it that much better.
First time I watched Prince of Darkness I was 15, it was on cable at midnight, I was in our darkened basement, and there was a very large mirror on the wall opposite me. I was freaked out.
The Mist movie has a different ending from the book. We are given hope for the main characters in the book while the end of the movie is the most shocking thing I ever saw. To me the Mist represents one of the most powerful statements about the self destructiveness of humanes through metaphor. I can barely tolerate horror movies after 1960, but declare this drama had me from the beginning to especially the surprise ending I wish I could wash out of my memory. Do not take your kids to this Stephen King thriller!
How is Midnight Meat Train (by Clive Barker of all ppl) & The Ritual, not on this list?! You also have Whisperer in Darkness, but not Reanimator, Dagon or From Beyond?
Colour Out of Space, The Thing and Annihilation are probably best lovecraftian movies ever ... followed by The Endless (which should include Resolution as a 2 part movie) and Coherence ... (Mandy is a stunning beauty but its not lovecraftian thematically ....)
If somebody can make a good movie adaption of Laird Barron's stories with the children of The Old Leech in it, that person immediately becomes my favourite director.
There's a role playing game called Call of Cethullu that used to play back in the late 80s that would have made for a great movie. I loved the characters and that it was based in the 1920s
Event Horizon has been theoriezed to take place in the same universe as Warhammer 40K. And now an Event Horizon series is in the works at Amazon, who is also making a Warhammer 40K series. Be funny if they actually connected the two.
the myst is one of the most terrible and cruel movie . monsters outside and crazy people inside .... no escape . and no spoil , but the end of the movie is .... well , you see
The only thing I remember about Lifeforce was Mathilda May's nude walk near the beginning. Damn!. And this was back before CGI, AI, whatever, so it was all her.
You talk in the beginning about an astronaut finding a telescope that reveals the sinister etc etc, but you never include it in your list. What movie is that?! It's driving me nuts!
