Congrats on the X5, the 23 X5 will be coming with iDrive 7. The 24 version will have the updated iDrive 8. Personally speaking I will admit the 7 is much more smoother and reliable at this time!
In order to reset iDrive by pushing in the volume button for 30 seconds I think you need to have the engine on, (as opposed to just electrical on) is that correct?

Thanks for the watch! I've seen it a couple times before. A lot in vehicles that have powered rear seats like the X7s. What I would try is try to make sure all the seats are secured, make them all move into a standard position and try a couple times over and over to mess around with them. One thing to note is to make sure you do it slowly, the seats sometimes do seem to stop only to wait a couple seconds and it begins to finish it's motion. Then I would try driving around for a bit say around a parking lot. If that doesn't solve the issue I would bring it in, I have seen it becoming a common issue for X7s a bit but should be a quick fix for the service team.

Love your videos. Very informative. New to BMW. How do I make the wireless phone charger to work effectively?? I have a 2023 X4 and the wireless charger makes my iPhone super hot. It is very slow and never changes my phone all the way to 100%. Do I have a bad charger ? Please advice.
Thank you! I will say it's not the best yet. The phone getting hot and slow charge times have been a common complaint since they were introduced. The best work-around for it is to ensure the case you have is thin as possible. I would imagine it's preventing the charge to 100% for safety reasons. Overcharging any battery can be harmful for the longevity.
Thank you for all videos full of great tips! Whenever my Android phone connects to Android Auto on i7, but the music comes out of the phone's speaker - I restart my phone, this fixes the issue every time. Not a fan of Android OS updates, as they slow down the phone.
That is a glitch that I come across time to time, for many different brands of vehicles too. Many times if you are trying to use your phone and play music at the same time it can cause the sound output to get confused. Quite rare for that to happen, but I do imagine it getting fixed with future phone updates.

I would make sure to press the PDC button as soon as you start to hear the beeping sounds as youre going through the wash, it should deactivate it for the time being.
Hello, my only problem with my 3 month now 2023 540i xdrive sedan BMW is that the engine does not stop when there is a red light or traffic etc. I asked my BMW specialist and he doesn't know why this is happening. He said it is supposed to stop from the factory settings if not in sports mode. I use the Comfort or Eco modes 90% of the time and it is supposed to work, but it really doesn't. Therefore to avoid an accident I use the auto hold button, which of course does the job, but does not save me gas money. Do you have a recommendation for me on how to solve this issue? Maybe a 30 second reboot would solve this? Please advise when possible. Thank you! Amazing video as always!
Hey Antonios, hope you've been well. I do know different criteria have to be met in order for it to work but surprised it you've haven't seen it work yet. Man y of them include temperature, how hard the climate is working, if the engine is cold, if you're not parked on a hill, etc. I know for the 23 5 series they have made it very smooth, also I'm sure you know but once you're braked it will just turn of the engine until you let go of the brake, so works a little different compared to auto h.

I would call BMW assist to see if it's compatible first, and if you're still not seeing it, you may have to purchase a subscription, it was like this for the 2019 2020 models. That you should be able to get from connected drive .com
Hi, I have a 2020 BMW m235i (idrive 7 system). My parking guide lines are not showing when reversing, I have tried re-enabling and disabling the Parking Guide Line from the camera picture setting and still doesn't work. I have also tried the 70 seconds reset (holding down volume knob), and it also didn't work after the head unit restarted twice. Do you know how to fix this problem?
I would do the same things you would have done, the main one being in the settings menu. Like you said, make sure the guide lines and warning boxes are enabled, if it still doesn't work you may have to get it checked out.
Great keyfob, I would have used your link had I know about the channel as at the time I found it myself and then the channel. This is a great channel, and has helped quite a few times. The M5 Comp has so much technology that even being technical it took me a long time to figure everything out!!! On iDrive 7 if your screens stay lit then when parked open your door and then press option scroll down to "Turn Off Vehicle". Interesting that sometimes you have to tell the computer to turn your car off. If you have a new M car, don't be shocked or surprised when the engine continues to "run" - it is normal and cooling the vehicle down. I've had many people come up and say I left my car running or I need to turn my enginge off at a gas station. The blowers are working to cool down the engine especially if you just drove it a bit rough... :)
Glad the channel has been helping! Love love love the M5 Comp, it's a dream car. Yes the cooling feature on M cars throws people off all the time, but it is a cool design =)
My G01 has an intermittent but quiet chirp sound like a cricket lasting for 1 to 5 seconds coming from the dashboard and i saw many other people had the issue too, dealer wasn't able to reproduce the issue but its driving me crazy. It happens only when the car is in city speeds and when fan Ac is on or off. Have you encountered the issue because my dealer couldn't figure out the problem?
You need to do a video on how to reset the inspection sticker reminder. I had to drive up to BMW yesterday and someone went in the car and reset it in two minutes and i drove 45 minutes to get there. After I left they said I could of did it myself if they walked me through it. I would love to have a video on that in case it happens again

In discussing the Sun food issues: When you use the term “hold down” I see that you may be holding the position forward and not “down”. Could you perhaps make the distinction between holding down and holding forward.
On iDrive 8, I’d like for the steering wheel media buttons left/right arrows to toggle through my saved favorite XM radio stations, rather than toggling through all XM stations in numerical order. Possible?
I don't believe you can with the sirus favorites list since it's more of a third party feature. But, one thing you could do is set all the sirius radio stations as "presets" instead and then you can select the presets folder and it'll allow you to do it that way.
Hey Ginny, for this you tap the voice command to get the bmw voice command, and let it know to change the date and time, it should bring you into the setting! hope youve been well!
Hey Jo, if you haven't already there should be settings within the system that you could look into. If still no luck, best to bring it in to get it checked since it is one of the more newer features BMW is offering, I wouldn't expect it to be perfect the first year around.
Quick question, I keep having this issue: I have android auto connected, but the car keeps opening the car maps asking to set the default direction, resetting the android auto map route, so I have to set the route in AA but again, the car map screen shows up. I have a X5 2023, idrive 7. Any clue on how to stop car to open car map and overrlwrite my AA route?
Hey Dennis, first time I'm hearing of the issue. I'd have to see it first hand but a couple things I would try would be to use the google assistant voice command which is done by HOLDING DOWN the voice command button. If you TAP the voice command button it'll use the BMW maps (I feel you may already know this). Once you have it set in AA, it should not be bringing up the BMW map, so it's odd that it's doing that. I do know that the new AA got an update a couple weeks ago so it may be a glitch that will be resolved soon. But yes once you have it set in AA, you should also be able to press MAP near the idrive controller and it should bring up the AA maps.
@@BeamerView Thanks for the reply, I have searched on internet and I seems it have something to do with the "Learn route" on BMW maps (Nav --> Settings --> Configure Services --> Learn Route), once you uncheck that box, it should be fine, I haven't tested it myself, but definitely gonna try that, in case somebody else is in my same situation. Agreed it only works when you're near red-light cameras. Here in the US we honestly don't have too many of them. Personally speaking I'd rather use Apps like Waze with apple carplay because those also come with built in speed camera warnings.
How can I change my user profile name? I have searched high and low and cannot figure out how to do it on either the BMW app or in the car itself. I'm tired of BMW welcoming me everytime I get in the car with my full name!
Couple things you could do. If want it to select either first name or full name there should be an option to do that. I would go into the driver profile menu and go into settings or click on your profile and see if there is an option there where you could have it set to your first name. I will say that if you want to change the actual name, a letter, or even make things upper or lowercase, that you would have to reach out to BMW Assist and have them do that since its a matter of security. I will say that the wait times to get a hold of them can take a long time.
Every time I start my car I get a box on my screen stating, "Your ConnectedDrive login credentials (BMW ID or password) are invalid. Please log in again." There are prompts to enter access data or reset the password. If I enter the BMW ID and password I use to log in to MyBMW online this information is rejected. What's going on?
Most likely you may need to update your password. BMW has made changes to what the requirements are for it, so the best thing to do is to use the MY BMW APP to say forgot/change password and setup a new one with the new credentials. See if that helps!
@@BeamerView Thanks very much indeed for your advice. I tried a simple password change and was not successful. In the end, what worked was deleting my profile in the car and then setting up a new driver profile using the QR code and the MyBMA app on my iPhone. That seemed to do the trick. Thanks again!
@@BeamerView I can no longer send gps direction to my car from my iPhone nor can I locate my car from gps in my car it was called office I think when the Internet went 2 g to 5 g I lost a few internet options
@@johnniephillips4534 Hey Johnnie, I gotcha. Yes that is correct. After about 2016 or 2017 or so, they made that change and now cell towers no longer work with 2g. Since the vehicle only works in 2G it wont work with connected drive services. There is not a way to get that back unfortunately.
Yup, that does help. Sometimes even with it on it may still turn off. So what you would have to do is make sure the engine is running and it is not in the Auto Start Stop mode where the engine is off.
