"Face the world without fear": seems like inherent optimism bias and terror management theory will always help regardless of ideologies such as antinatalism based on consent and efilism.

@@uvwuvw-ol3fg Don't take it literally. I believe the actual message when given that advice is to stay aware of your surroundings, and you do that by not staring at the ground. "Walk with purpose" is the long and short of it. You don't wanna shamble about or appear like a kicked puppy, look sharp.

A lot of it boils down to not looking like you're "protecting your core". When you're nervous, your body triggers a fight or flight response, and a lot of times it manifests in trying to guard your vitals (the area around your heart). This is why people cross their arms in front of their chest, they hold objects like drinks in front of their chest, they fidget with their hands in front of their chest, with bad posture they slouch/curl up in a ball around their chest, etc. You're contracting in an effort to protect yourself. A lot of times you can tell what is proper body language and what isn't by paying attention to what is going on around your heart.

Judging the character of others by their neurologically normative body language (especially eye contact, which is really difficult for a lot of neurologically diverse people) is something that I hope kind of goes out of style. You can't actually tell how intelligent or capable somebody is by the amount of eye contact they make with you, or how far back their shoulders are. Having said that, there are lots of good etiquette tips here, and especially when it comes to using phones while you're talking to somebody, a good thing for all of us to remember. If I were to add anything... two things come to mind; if you're in a room with a lot of people you are acquainted with, an effort should be made to greet everybody that you know in that room, even if you've only met them one time. You don't want people thinking you've intentionally ignored them. If it's super busy and your time is limited, try to make a mental note to check in with those people you missed later, just to say "I saw you across the room, I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to chat, my time was really limited tonight. Looking forward to the next time we can cross paths" or something like that. It makes people feel included. Another tip to make people feel included is to look for the people in the room that nobody is talking to, maybe even the people who look like they don't want to be there, and engage them in conversation for some time. It will make your energy more magnetic to others because you're acting in a gracious manner towards everybody at a given event. Don't be one of these people who just looks for the most popular or successful person in the room and then crowds around them looking for your "moment" with them. Create your own personal magnetism by having the confidence to talk to everybody and engage with them on the same level.

Along with not pointing is the general rule to keep your palms up or out. If palms are down, you can "point" with your whole hand, and it is just as bad. The exposing of the palm must be a throw-back to the whole "no weapon in my hand" thing, which makes perfect sense. I still walk street side of a woman, even though there are no horses I can control.

If I'm with someone I never check my phone unless I'm looking for an excuse to get away. Same goes if I'm in my office talking to someone - the caller can leave a message and I'll call them back in the same way that if they came to the door they would wait until the previous visitor had finished their business before interrupting.

When you're talking to someone who's sat down and they listen to you why having their fingers on their chin or one of their cheeks. It clearly sends the message that they are judging and/or analysing you and not truly listening.

Thanks for the great video Antonio. The bad posture is certainly a difficult thing to correct as we spend a lot of time sitting. I'd say your quite right with the workout advice. Pullups are the best and help tremendously with remembering to straighten up. The other thing that is tough for me is the fidgeting. I do it a lot and have to focus to catch myself. It's a nervous energy. I'd say maintaining a good and consistent workout routine helps me spend that extra energy in a productive way. If I'm fidgeting, I gotta slam out some pushups, pullups, or bodyweight squats.

When it comes to the handshake, the key is to provide a firm hand without squeezing the others persons hand. This goes a long way especially with women. It shows that you are strong without being overbearing. When one shakes your hand and it doesn't give under their pressure. It signals that you can take it and are confident that you could crush them if you choose to.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this one. The watch issue. I fully agree with everything you say on the subject, but I have another theory trying to speak its mind. LOL I call this one Old School Theory, and I think you will like it. It goes along with the idea of using Timeless Classics to build a powerful look. Old School Theory would lobby for the idea of going without a watch -- as a purposeful decision. It could say I am not ruled by time, which, in my case, is true. It says, I am here with you, and nothing in the world matters at this time. I have nothing scheduled after you -- you are that important! I do not like loosing a place to put a small splash of color and shine, but cuff links could fill in that gap nicely, I think.

PERSONAL SPACE COMMENT: When I ring the bell on a bid appointment, I am aware of the fact that I am on someone's private property, and only inches away from their living room -- a highly personal place -- so, I ring, turn my back on the door, take a couple steps away, looking at the sky and their yard, and when I hear them opening their door, I turn to greet them at a very comfortable distance. It draws them out, and toward me, two very good things! It is a little thing, but that is where the differences are made.

I do not carry my cell phone like people do. Right now, at my desk, my phone is on a dry erase board eraser in front of my monitor. That is its "place" when I am at home. Exception: at night it is by my bed, so I can be reached in case of emergency. But, those are its two places. If I go out, it is in the vehicle. If I go to a meeting, or on a bid appointment, the phone stays right there in the truck. P.S. I used to be on Facebook. Now, I am social media free! I use RU-vid educationally, and for music when friends are over.

Use a microphone... your voice has alternating very high & very low pitch. A calmer voice is more persuasive. Shouting is not necessary to get your message across unless you have no microphone. @@ph.d.r3334 so also, (non-essential) are the following: Wearing clothes to work or to a friend's party, brushing those bedazzling muti-colored teeth, combing those raggedy hair, & trimming that bewildering beard. My point is - it is not necessary in modern times to listen to an old transitor radio in which, as you listen, the voice (coming from the radio) goes bleak; if you have a better sound delivery system (a mouse click away from you) - Get a microphone!!! It makes life easier for everyone. Better sound systems bring better communication & better comprehension. Imagine listening to a speaker who speaks loudly & then mumbles words randomly & intermittently; that's the sound effect I'm getting from this video. Let's try to be 'men' at something else instead of practising Opera while speaking to each other.
