Stunning video, well done. I loved this game and il never forgive EA for not giving it the love it deserved. Such a wonderfully tactile, organic and genuinly *alive* game.
This game is proof that artstyle trumps graphics. It may not look as "realistic" as modern games, but it's more distinct and cleaner in its aesthetic. Makes it stand apart from everything else.
No other game world gave me so much enjoyment just by traversing it. When I finished it, I just wanted more levels, more places to run and climb through. The environmental storytelling is also great ("Your child may be at risk of becoming a criminal if he or she likes running around as well as the color red.") This game's aesthetic is simple but unforgettable. It's realistic but too nice, clean and empty to be real. It truly feels like a bleak paradise that we could come to live in. The soundtrack of course does heavy lifting to complete the vision. I actually played the Mirror's Edge mobile phone 2D platformer spin-off first and it was pretty good, but I doubt it can still be downloaded today.
And 15 years later I'm still waiting to see a game that nails the feeling of the animations like that. First of the genre, nailed the coffin, never matched.
This game is heaven. It takes me back to the carefree bliss of childhood. I just enjoy being in its world. I miss when triple A studios took risks. This game's so unique.
For all the faults of Catalyst i really love its music, sounds and the aesthetic of the city. It really made me want to visit these spaces in real life. Solar Fields tracks are legendary, i listen to them daily at work.
