Damn this was... Intense. EXO managed to turn this into a group song, getting paired in perfect synchro, but Jonghyun really sang this as a soloist song. It had his whole individuality, emotions, lust and anger... It felt weird because I'm used to EXO's version but I like both a looot and I'm so grateful Jjong wrote this. 🔥
Wondering if there is a studio (orig. demo) version of Jong-Hyun's Playboy before he gave it to EXO. It would definitely be an unheard of masterpiece. :)
Imagine if the Shiny Foundation managed to get access and permission to upload Jonghyun's unreleased song and covers. That would be amazing lol @@rivisera
I had first listened to EXO’s version of the song and I loved it. It’s the song that got me into EXO. Then I started to listening to JONGHYUN and found out that he wrote this song. Funny how life works. Thank you Jjong for creating such a masterpiece, you did well! Much love to you from the U.S.A! 🇺🇸
When I listen to this version, I knew Jonghyun is the king. EXO’s version is more chill and relaxed. The arrangement is designed for pair dancing. Here, Jonghyun gradually he released all the complex emotions. I never read the lyrics but I hear anger, blaming, sadness and begging in a relationship. It’s much more than a sexy song than I assumed. And his skills, omg! I hope there’s studio or demo of this song. Jonghyun passed his legacy to EXO and other artists. His songs were, are and will be appreciated and loved by the whole world.
@@Lovelydreame Jonghyun’s the composer and sole lyricist of Playboy. But this song was given to EXO for releasing. JJong talked about it with EXO in his radio show that he was planning to write a song that suited EXO. Although he did think it would be great to put Playboy after Deja Boo in his album, he still stick to the original plan.
@@cielphantomhive2564 yeah, he once said “Women are blessed beings. They are the biggest inspiration to all artists. They make all poets write poems, all painters pant, and all singers sing.” And people interpreted this in a sexist way but our lovely Jonghyun just loves women that much.
@@cielphantomhive2564 Hey, I know you probably were just trying to joke, but I think its really weird to assume this. Even more so because Jonghyun also wrote love songs about men and has said on numerous occassions that he found his heart would flutter for various men. Jonghyun wrote love songs about women, and its entirely possible Jonghyun was straight, but its also entirely possible he was bisexual or otherwise queer. To deem him "the straightest" even as a joke feels like it erases all those feelings he expressed towards men and people who are not women, and I think its best we don't pigeonhole him into an identity.
The first time I heard this song . . . there was a sense of warmth and familiarity. . . but once I found out that Jonghyun wrote and composed this track, it made sense.
What I like about Jonghyun is that he exudes sexyness without pushing it. Like sure he's got some hot performances like Moon that include bodyrolls and half-naked. But in general, his lyrics aren't that explicit and he doesn't do that much bodyrolling compared to other artists. Yet his lyrics say it all without saying it, and he has this intense stare, this flow, this stage presence shown in this performance and in other perfs or songs (White t-shirt, Fortune cookie...). One look, one gesture, one note and he's got us wrapped around his finger fr. Slay king
It is once again time for my annual Jonghyun binge, and I'm dying all over again! 😍 By the way my heart acts you'd think I have seen this 1000 times already lmao
Why am I just discovering this? I like his version, strong, passionate, and complements the lyrics, His pronunciation to "play" "place" Is just so unique, This song really fits him. :)🤍🤍🤍
I first heard Exo performaning this song. They added sexiness, chillness and fun in the song. I enjoyed that but for some reason I always thought that the suits more for a solo artists, one eith many layers. When I heard that Jonghyun is the one who composed this song, I was not surprised at all cause it literally screamed his name. This performance was so amazing. Jonghyun's version is more complex cause there's pain, anger, bitterness and huskiness in it and the raw power in his 3:13 "ah baby" just had me shook. You will be missed Jonghyun, you give up on life too soon.
The way he looked at the dancer makes me hope he had the opportunity to love and be loved and have someone he could be his true self with. Like romantically, not the love his fans give him. What I mean is I hope he experienced intimacy with someone he loved. Because it's something beautiful that everyone should experience.
😭😭😭 I wish i knew you earlier you where such a bright person with beautiful and loving soul it's always hurting whenever i think about you i miss you 😞😔
