Beautiful .You can get some small black gems that will fit those holes, another idea.I think this would make an excellent present for someone who is hard to buy for.And it looks very luxurious too .I love these 🥰
I'd love to have a mold that has either a button in the middle or an indention to add my own. I'm talking about the little button that the dominos slide on to keep them from scratching
Something you could do to get a solid black over mica/metal powder is to put a thin layer of black to catch the loose powder and once it dries enough fill up the rest of the mold with black. Because the powder pulls to the center the edges should be clear of particles and it should be solid black. Might take longer to cure but it will have the effect you want without using a metallic resin
Hey Julie! I think using some tinted UV resin would be perfect for the holes and lines. You can just put a couple of drops in and fill flush with the top without having to circle them with the bottle tip. It will self level and as you complete each one, put them under the UV lamp to cure while you continue the rest. It would go super fast and no long drying time like paint etc. Also the UV resin will not be effected by water or any other substance that might spill on them while being used. Don't know what type of paint you were using, water based or oil based. Big ((Hugs)) and Love from Texas!🤗😘
Great video, as always, Julie! Let's Resin has a set of 5 metallic powders that I love. Gives the same effect as what you're using here & it also works well when the molds are filled with black resin.
I'm so glad that you had enough resin left over to illustrate the differences in preparation and try the other mould. I LOVE the gold dominos. If I bought them, I might put a crystal (or rhinestone) in each dot (without the black) to have "diamonds with my gold". My Grandma taught me to play dominos over 50 years ago. Would you sell a set of gold, without the dots painted? Also, I like them gold on the back, as well. BRAVO!
Really looks like gold! It’s so smooth and shiny, nothing like a bit of bling! Thank you for a very enjoyable video you are always so entertaining and lovely to watch❤️🙏🏻😁
Perfect 👏🏼👏🏼 i love that gold it looks like a real gold bar 😻 i loved them plain without the black filling . & i really love ur chanel u inspired me alot thanks💗
I love that gold!!! What I found really nice to do is I pour a tad bit into the mold, of my main color. just up to the dots. I let that cure. then i take the secondary (dot) color, and just cover the dots, letting that cure. and finally finish off with the main color again. this saves a ton of time if you have other things you need to pour and they turn out so so pretty!!! the dominoes i do like that are my hottest sellers since I also pour the box for that set at the same time so it all matches..
You should look for the Sharpie PRO. They are made to use on PVC pipes. They do not smear up on any surface. You can find them in the tool area in hardware stores. Very rarely will you find them in an area where they sell regular sharpies. The Pro sharpies are all Grey bodies with black caps. They only come in black red and blue. Just check them out , you might like them better than paint.
They're beautiful. Maybe try paint markers medium tip for the dots and fine tip for the lines? I'm going to try doing as you said and pouring black on top of the backs after they've set. GORGEOUS and yes, you will get better as you go...you always do Julie. I love experimenting with you🥰
You are such a lucky girl Julie to be able to make your own molds ....... with the Rand Dollar exchange it's very expensive to buy molds on Amazon Etsy and other overseas company's the postage is really killing us but it's OK we could have some company's that sell molds mut it's not as nice as the ones I see you and everyone on you tube use ........I love the domino's they are very nice thanks for the video and for sharing keep well and stay safe
This metallic powder is gorgeous. Mine is from Let's Resin. But mine does NOT mix well in my resin. It was hilarious when I did Christmas ornaments with it. Some turned out with really pretty designs. One was half...gold. The other half was totally metallic. There was just no way to get them to have a beautiful back coloring. Love these dominos. (Those transparent molds are for UV users.)
Wonder what it would have looked like without dusting the mold, just pouring the gold resin in? I think it’s opaque enough to cover black dots. Still gorgeous.
Love Love Love this Set, I immediately tried it and they came out Fabuous. However, I'm concerned about the front of the Dominoes, What do you think about a short spray of some Acrylic spray? Or - someone in the comments suggested to use Resin for the Dots and the lines??? What do you think?
So beautiful- would be lovely to just have on display! I wonder if the trick that powder is the fact that you’re dusting it on and any opaque colour would be good behind it?
I was thinking how cute it would be to make an impression stamp that can be added to the back with whatever real gold bars get stamped on them. Something like "99.99 AU".
You mentioned the good silicone that you use for your molds, do you mind telling us what it is? I'd like to try making a mold once and want to make sure I have the good stuff. :)
I have never dusted the mold. Does the gold rub off after? I like the dusting color. wondering if you put a thin thin layer of clear then dust that layer after then put the gold mixed resin. . then it would protect that gold dusting layer ?
Fantastic gold bar effect! Could the dots and backs be finished with black UV resin? Or a black doming resin? (Don't dome the dots, lol). Your silicone brush might be perfect to swirl dots? I do think the backs need to be finished to make the set "play" properly. Backgammon might lend itself to resin...
It's just my opinion of course, but I think they are perfectly fine just as they are. Regarding the thickness and the size of the dots.... Actually you are amazing at everything you do ❤
Julie? Is this *your* mould? I don't remember seeing it in your store, but it is really nice! Haha Okay, never mind...you just answered my question! 😅👍❤ I LOVE IT! ❤ This set you've made is *so stunning!* So simple, so elegant and timeless! Truly, solid gold bars! I can tell a slight difference (I think?) between the 2 dusted hearts. The black-backed one appears ever so slightly darker than the solid gold one, but that could be my monitor, too, or the angle at which the light is hitting them in your studio.
Sorry! It's part 3 AM and I am sooo sleepy. I just wanted to catch this video, before going to bed! I forgot to mention how pretty the druzy pendants are! ❤😊
so beautiful, mold on my Christmas wish list, I have been good :) where did you get the gold meron powder from (Australia) loving your videos, learning lots, thank you for sharing, my ebay basket is filling up with your molds haha
