Another world may not have been highest rated...but as much as your loyal to your shows..and i dont blame u..we all are ..another world beyond beyond beyond deserved best wardrobe!!
Jill pharon Phelps was the first mistake on Santa Barbara Jon Conboy and Paul Rauch put nails in coffin so sorry to the Dobson's what they did to your baby!!
Interesting to look back now and see that Martha Byrne and Noelle Beck were both nominated in the same category and so many years later both could say they played the same role.
I was thinking the same thing. I had no idea of the coincidence until watching this clip. Btw Carrington Garland, kelly Santa Barbara deserved a win during her run as the best kelly the show ever had.
Exactly! Even back when there were alot more soaps than what exist now,the world of soaps was a very small one where actors & crew would seem to cross paths multiple times on different shows in various &sometimes strange & coincidental ways
Somehow, I missed this Daytime Emmy telecast when it was shown originally. The only part I've seen up to now was Victoria Wyndham's tribute to Douglass Watson. I love that they used Mac's Thanksgiving toast as Douglass' highlight reel. That scene was truly one of Mac's/Douglass' *grandest* moments. And it was wonderful to see David Canary giving props to Douglass like that (even though David said in an interview that the part of his career at AW wasn't the best). My only peeve about this awards show was the dumb cloudy/non-color pics of the presenters--whose idea was that? At least show a clear color photo of them if you're going to do that. And wow, congrats to AW for costume design!
I'm surprised too that Michelle Frobes wasn't nominated. She made the Sonni/Solita sl fascinating, despite the sometimes convoluted writing. It's pretty ironic that tForbes wasn't nominated, but they still showed those Sonni/Reva scenes in GL's nomination for best writing OTOH I loved Debbi Morgan on AMC/PC etc so it was nice to see her win.
There was an outcry when she wasn't nominated. It carried over to a "make-up nomination" the next year, when, sadly, she didn't have the material to be competitive.
This month is about to come to the close out during Black History Month.Debbie Morgan became a first black actress won a Emmy Best Supporting Actress for All My Children. That woman deserves it.
It was soooooo good from 84 until abot mid 88 then almost over night it became unwatchable.the sets got darkee the music got darker the humour was taken out it got depressing!!! The dobsons made that show great after they were booted it became terrible!!! I literally never seen a show go from xcellent to garbage so fast!! I encourage you to tou tube the epusides there in order give the first few months because its finding its footing but my gid if u like soaos youll live it.its very viewr friendly its kind of like a novel with 1 main story the murder of channing and everything that branches out i can brag enuf about it its best years were 85 and 86 but best soap all around from 84 to 88 ish if u watch let me know i can guide u threw it would love to discuss it again lol cheers!!
I tried to watch Santa Barbara but was never able to get into it. I couldn’t understand what the hype was all about and why it won so many Emmys. Even today, I can re-watch old episodes as ATWT, GL, AMC, Y&R, OLTL, etc., and still be entertained but Santa Barbara still doesn’t appeal to me.
Doug Watson should have one Lead Actor, i still maintain that to this day. I just remember the sheer dissappointment when the award went to David Canary who has won a billion times over.........
Looking back at some of these award shows makes me wonder about some of these victories. I would like to do a reconciliation of these award ceremonies just to see if there was any pattern or trend to them. I say this because this particular award show aired on NBC and a significant amount of the winners were from shows from that network. I've also noticed this in previous years with noticeable amounts of the winners that were associated with the network that just so happens to be hosting the award ceremony of the year in question. ABC, NBC, and i believe that even CBS hosted a few back in the 80s and 90s. Just wondering 🤔 thats all. It's probably just me.
Just a few observations about this particular Emmy Awards show. There was certainly a higher number of actors and soaps nominated and also winning from NBC that year than usual. I wonder if that had anything to do with the awards show being on NBC that year. Also, thought it was interesting that both Martha Byrne and Noelle Beck were nominated in the Younger Actress category. Of course Noelle would replace Martha as Lily on As The World Turns during the soap's last few years on the air. Also, after Marcy Walker left her role as Liza Colby on All My Children in 2005, it seems she dropped off the radar and was never cast in anything else. Kinda of surprised she was never cast on Y&R for something. Or B&B. And young Justin Gocke, who won the Best Younger Actor for Santa Barbara passed away in 2014.
Another world soooooooo deserving of costume desighn!!! When you dress donna love felicia gallant .rachel .iris .viki. you cant lose!!!! As much as i loved santa barbara during this time i have to say with the xception of party scenes thier wardrobe was terrible!!! I mean they had augusta the alexis of daytime often in a simple boring pant suit.out rageous gina often in just sweaters.robin wright in tshirts ...loved sb but got to be real about the wardrobe!!
its wierd seeing some of these actors and actresses on different soaps when i am used to seeing them now on other soap like nancy and heilarey b smith who now is alexas davis on gh and who played nora on oltl
Creagh Roberson The only time “General Hospital” won three consecutive years was 1995-97, and Nancy Lee Grahn was not a cast member for two of those wins. The ‘95 win was for material aired in ‘94, and the ‘96 win was for material aired in ‘95. Nancy debuted on GH in September ‘96.
