The earliest one I have is the 1985 Daytime Emmys and all I have of that is clips of the CBS soaps.

I didn't even notice William Fichtner in 13:00. He's a good actor who was in tons of movies (Contact) and the show Invasion a while back. He was recently in the show MOM.

Ellen wheeler deserved this for the character of Cindy Parker. Stuart and Cindy were one of the best story’s all my children ever did

Its cool that Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans presented Billy with his award not only because they are on the same soap or because he and Mary Beth play brother and sister but because they were the first people he had scenes with when he came onto Days of our Lives

ALso of note: $25,000 Pyramid won best game show this day, but this week was the show's last week on CBS, being replaced by Family Feud with Ray COmbs.

And what drama it was to see Bridget Dobson accept the Emmy for "Santa Barbara"! They locked her and Jerome Dobson out of their own show! Shame on New World Television!

Wow, this must have been on CBS. Bloated number of CBS presenters... only 2 apiece from the "big" ABC soaps and NADA from "Ryan's Hope" or "Loving". Nice. Just... nice.

Back then with an overrun of soap operas there was less interest on talk shows and other programming during the daytime even though they got their own categories as well It just wasn't the meat and potatoes of the award show.

What was that bit in the beginning? Ugh. Also, why did you edit out a lot of the other awards/winners? It would be nice to see all of the nominees and winners intact.

I wished Susan Lucci would have won but, since Ryan's Hope was cancelled just a few months later I'm glad Helen Gallagher got her last chance to win. I'm also glad the All My Children writers we're there despite being on strike. I was also glad Erika Slezak did not win. Also how did Marcy Walker get nominated in the lead actress when 3 of the actress's in the younger category were older than she was Julianne Moore was 2 years older, Andrea Evans was 30 and Lauren holly was the same age. She should have been in that category

Ok here's what I don't get. The only soaps that made it offshore to other countries were bold and the beautiful, young and the restless and days of our lives. I'm from New Zealand. We never heard of or seen the other soaps and yet they won all the emmys.

As much as I like David Canary, when Stephen Nichols didn't win, I knew these awards were meaningless. I thought/think Stephen Nichols is the BEST actor, daytime or nighttime. His acting is so different, so raw, and far and away a cut above the rest. My opinion.

Why could Justin Deas not be bothered to show up to these award shows? This is the third video I've seen where he won but wasn't there.

Kathryn Hays should have several Emmys and dozens of nominations - sigh - never nominated ): Larry Bryggman and Scott DeFreitas sould have won this year, and ATWT was much better - more consistent - than Santa Barbara. Still these are fun to watch, esp. the clips! Wish Julianne Moore was there though.

This is when soaps were big and people cared about the daytime emmy's. David Canary, Erika Slezak, Kim Zimmer, Elizabeth Hubbard, Larry Brygman, were some of the icons of acting. And yes who could forget the biggest loser ever Susan Lucci. She looked in so much pain throughout. The pressure; the shame and knowing people were watching here seemed to strain the poor girl. But she did look good at leaslt.

Susan Lucci clip a joke!!! Full make up and hair giving birth!!! Good lord!! How as an actress could she allow that to happen much less be submitted!!
