Highly recommend purchasing from Crutchfield.com. You simply enter your make/model. Select what you want, and they will include instructions, and everything you need to do the install.

Crux SWRTY-61N Wiring Interface $56: (This is needed to retain Back Up Camera, and Steering Wheel volume control functions)

Had no idea you needed the stupid parking brake on the set the radio up. I couldn’t set up Bluetooth or the clock...now all good. SET THE PARKING BRAKE TO SET THE STEREO UP. Thanks Man

Wait, you have to pull the e-brake every time you turn on the car and want to use things like Bluetooth calling, CarPlay? That sounds like a pain in the ass since I have the pedal e-brake. Can you confirm if calling and CarPlay navigation/music work without engaging the e-brake every time?

I’ve been looking for someone to say something about the iPod and you’re the only one who has! I know you said it won’t work with the iPod Classic, but have you been able to test if it works with any other iPod model, such as the iPod Touch or the final version of the iPod Nano?

Luis Fraga I haven’t! But I’m sure the newer iPod devices such as nano and touch will have a much better chance of working seamlessly with the Alpine head unit/ Apple CarPlay. Basically any Apple device that has lightning port should function with no issues. The older models will be hit/miss :(

I ordered a Pioneer AVH-2500NEX. I will be installing it Monday. I also ordered a park brake bypass from Amazon so I didn’t have to set the park brake to change settings or for my passengers to watch movies.

Thanks for the video! If you are on CarPlay will the camera activate by reversing automatically?

From what I remember yes :) It would still function like oem back up camera, and come on regardless if carplay is being used or not. I dont recall having issues with that

I've read that you can use the original mic that comes with the vehicle. Is this not the case or did the harness you buy not allow for this?

Yea during the installation we did a couple test calls using oem mic and supplied mic from alpine. Caller could not hear me from oem mic, but soon as we plugged in the alpine pic they were able to hear me clearly

Is the gap above the radio open (between top of radio and trim)? Like you can see back there or put something in it?

Yup it’s a very thin slot you store small flat items

I was wondering of you have used the USB thumb drive yet? Will it also allow you to use a 2.5 external drive as well? Could you upload a video of the menu while using the USB? I want to get a radio like this but I want to use a 2.5 external drive for more storage and was wondering if it will work and what the menu looks like. Thanks

I have for a little! It brings up your music folders. If you make playlists in the thumb drive it will show that as well. I traded in this car in Aug 2020 , so I no longer have it. Otherwise I would’ve gladly made the video for you!

I used the supplied plug n play harness from Crutchfield. You can have them do the soldering service for you to make it true plug and play on your end

There is an optional harness supplied by Crutchfield that made it plug n play for the Rav4 , that allows you to retain steering wheel volume/track controls

How did u get the original reverse lines to work

You mean like the back up camera guidelines? The lines in this video come this way on the Alpine head unit. The lines are displayed differently on the OEM Toyota head unit. So when i engage the reverse, the back up camera is displaying the guidlines from the Alpine head unit. So depending on what headunit you are using the reverse lines may be different

@@FujiboHeavy no I mean the guide lines that still turn I have the same head unit in a Corolla but my lines dont show up I only have the cones from the head unit itself
