Very interesting, and I would applaud that initiative. My experience, though, says apple tends not to add options if they can get away with not doing so. Do you have any sources for those rumors? I would love a feature like that.

@@MacRS4 Yeah, I've spent quite a bit of time on and off trying to diagnose it. Sometimes MDS is using a lot of CPU. I need to have Sophos Anti-Virus installed for work connectivity (which is a POS BTW :)) and that can often slam the CPU but even when those two aren't running, the drain rate is immense. I also had a new battery put in the laptop not long ago as the logic board had a terminal issue resulting in crashed on wake up from sleep. Everything was replaced and I convinced them to replace the battery as well due to the high drain rate (and in case a faulty battery was causing some of the issues related to the crashes) but alas, the new one is the same. I had a new engineer join my team this week who has the same machine. He said his battery life is about the same as mine i.e. abysmal, so I'm starting to accept this is just how it is. Do you know if there are any apps that can benchmark the drain rate of a laptop battery to see if it's in the expected range?
