I’ve always thought what Disney does best is immersing you so that you have no idea what’s behind things. They hide everything perfectly with scenery, sounds, etc. Part of the magic ✨
I love, love, love that you used the word Conniption! What a great word that most people don't use anymore. But, I wonder what they're going to do about "certain types" of people perpetually cutting the line, on purpose, without a care.
I did one of the last Run Disney half marathons before the long hiatus and will be doing the first one they're holding in January. It's not really clear if they're just going to be annual going forward or what (they used to be 3-4 times a year). It's a fun weekend - they have 5k, 10k, and half marathon (13.1 miles) events and various characters to pose with and all that. Pricey, as you might expect!
Nice! I might do one at some point. Not this one though. It didn’t look like they had much availability (if any) anyway. I wasn’t paying too close attention to availability when I grabbed the clip though.
It sold out in minutes. You can still do "virtual races" which means you're basically just buying a medal but the actual event was a nightmare to sign up for. @@SoCalDisneyDad
You can also add luggage locks to your list. This past August I brought my shoulder sling pack with a lock to prevent theft while in the park. I was informed by the security staff that I must throw away my lock before entering the park. Their excuse was that if I decided to put the lock on a gate/door, Disney would have to call a locksmith to open it. It was a specific lock for my sling pack and it costs about $12 dollars. Since we were stay close by I decided to drop the lock off and return to the park. This happened at the DCA park entrance at the Disney Grand Californian.
Makes sense. Convenient you were close to your room though. I’ve had to throw stuff away (not at Disney, other places) because I didn’t want to wait through the long entrance lines again.
Well that's absolutely stupid... You're telling me in allll of Disneyland they don't have a single boltcutter or plasma torch? Ive seen so many cases of security making up their own rules at will or just taking things from people because they just want them. Disney needs to hire better trained more disciplined security
Oh here is one i always wondered about! I heard that if you yell "Andy's coming" at a Toy Story character they have to pretend fall and pretend to be a toy. But they said that it's frowned upon so i have never tried. I did yell "on your left" to Captain America Sam Wilson and he did a reaction which was really cool.
The Andy’s Coming is a myth. They can’t actually do that for safety. But at WDW there is a new restaurant where part of the experience is this happens over the loudspeaker periodically and all the waiters and other cast members will freeze until the all clear.
yeah it started as an online rumor and in real life cast members did it once and the video got popular and then EVERYONE wanted to do it and they shut it down
Never brought a present into the park. But didn't even think of that. Had no clue. I understand that you wouldn't know what is in that wrapped package. Good to know.
You are wrong about vapes not being allowed in the park. From the Disney website: "While smoking is not permitted inside the parks, hotels, and the Downtown Disney District, I do want to point out that tobacco products are not on the prohibited items list. This means that you should be able to carry your items with you through security to make it to the locker area, or you could even keep your items with you in the parks (ex: in a purse or backpack). "
That sounds like a blog. Or outdated info at the least. This is straight from the Disneyland website: Article A: “For the comfort of all Guests, the theme parks, the Esplanade between the parks and the Downtown Disney District are smoke free. The smoking of tobacco, e-cigarettes or other products that produce a vapor or smoke is allowed only in designated outdoor smoking areas.” Source: disneyland.disney.go.com/park-rules/ Article B: “Designated Smoking Areas: For the comfort of all Guests, smoking is not permitted in the theme parks and hotels of the Disneyland Resort, the Esplanade between the parks or the Downtown Disney District.” Source: disneyland.disney.go.com/guest-services/smoking/
We were at the Disneyland the last week of September and my wife had a role of blue painters (masking) tape confiscated as it was not allowed. She was going to use it to tape any thing that fell off the DEPs (Droid Escape Pods) our kids made to hold the droids they were building that morning. Any idea why painters (masking) tape would not be allowed?
Because they use it to mark queues when lines get excessively long. Most recent use was Tiana’s opening day. There was an hour wait and a restaurant doesn’t have the switchbacks a ride has. So they used painter’s tape or something equivalent on the ground.
I just use my iPhone 14 Pro Max. It has three cameras, a .5x, 1x, and 3x, and the 1x is the only lens with good dark ride quality. The wide angle and telephoto lenses are definitely only useful outdoors.
Yes and no. You can “dress up” whenever you like on any day. There are just a few simple rules: no masks, and you can’t directly mimic a character. Search Disney Bounding and you’ll see a lot of outfit choices that very clearly allude to aspects of the park without looking exactly like them. But if you want to do your best to be a doppleganger of a character, the only way to wear that sort of costume is at Oogie Boogie Bash.
Ashes and haunted mansion. I think I know how. Remember how Andy Dufresne snuck dirt out of this prison cell at Shawshank prison? One pocket full every day, inconspicuously down his pant leg. There you go 👍. Wich room would you guys choose? I’m picking the portrait corridor.
They can’t be within 3 miles. You can still see them from time to time because 3 miles isn’t incredibly far when a plane cruises at 35,000 feet. But it’s never close enough to be bothersome in the park.
We were on our way into ToonTown and this guy walking in front of us with his family was vaping big clouds in mine and my toddler’s face. If you know the path into toontown, especially with the construction walls right now, there wasn’t anywhere else to go to dodge the cloud. It was maaagical
I just watched the video and I hope I didn't stumble on the removed topic but the writer's strike. Man, some frustration. I bought a VIP tour at Universal and the tour guides were pushing so hard on support the writers, and watch all these shows so the actors get paid...etc. They spent so much time on that, we weren't able to see some of the tour. I'm glad Disney didn't do the same because Universal let me down with that experience.
No, the deleted portion has been removed officially now. So I removed my comment about making adjustments. The “can’t hold events or rallies or speeches” is still supposed to be a part of the video.
Regarding the smoking thing, on our drive out of the park last week the driver of the car in front of us was just puffing away on a marijuana cigarette. It made me so mad. Not just the smoking on property, but they were behind the wheel about to get on the freeway!! I stopped the line and just waited for them to drive away from me because I was sick of me and my son having to breathe that in after a wonderful morning at DCA.
We went in September, there was a guy smoking in that section you showed to be the old smoking area. My husband saw him, the guy saw us and he walked away pretending he wasnt smoking. But we all knew. I wish there had been a cast member around.
