I think they all came out beautifully! Donate the unwanted coaster to a second hand shop rather than to the rubbish. Charitable donations are a tax write-off for your business.
I really appreciate the way you explain your technique and are cheerful and encouraging. I did my first bloom. It wasn't perfect but I had so much fun! Thanks so much.
Very nice! I like how the mirror reflective edges match the center. Very intentional. I have had similar experiences with resin leaching color, it happened randomly with both glass and plastic. I finally opted to coat pieces with UV resin that I plan to 'set' in resin. I'm not certain but I believe the colors leaching is related to the interaction of heat and chemicals .
I like them with the silver edging! Very pretty! If you sealed the top of the rhinestones with something clear (Uv resin or clear coat ) beforehand I would bet the color would stay. Worth a try!
They turned out very nice! I love watching all your videos even the ones of things I don't make. You are a joy to watch. Btw, I was at a flea market/craft market and a sweet lady came to my table and she knows someone that does resin crafts. She mentioned your videos and said they both watch you and enjoy your videos so much.
I am so lucky to have found your videos. I’m not sure how many years now I’ve watched but your videos mean as much today as they did years ago. Thank you
The blooming and colors are really nice. So crazy about that center. Who'd a thunk? The silver edge works great with the center. Take care, sweetie. xoxoxoxo
Julie try some resin ones with glitter in them hun . I have just thought about it. I have glitter ones that's made of resin . I will try this and hopefully it will work . My blooms do not come out very well still lots of practice.
Yepp we all learn about facets/shapes losing it in resin at some point 😬 I did it with a tray & was totally shocked as the facets disappeared. Your coasters are lovely regardless! Good save with the silver edging 👌💯
You make me smile with your cheerfulness…even when things don’t go as planned! I wish I could make blooms like you do…they are just perfect, except for the one you pitched! 😂
I did the same thing with crystals in the middle! 😂🤷🏻♀️ Live and learn! These are still beautiful! The silver on the edges is perfect with the mirror centers!
gorgeous. As for the crystals though, a week or two-three ago I ran into this too. The only thing that will show up is the circle back on it that has the color/mirror shine. The rest is clear plastic, which pretty much blends it in with the resin.
I have used some shiny centre items and the colours just disappeared and every single one turned a sort of silvery colour very disappointed-But I learned not to use them again. I love the simplicity of the coasters-yet so effective and Beautiful! And a perfect bloom.. This is something you have mastered the blooms are always Amazing ❤ The finishing off of the edge just makes it perfect!
Hi Julie I love watching your blooms!!! Your such a good teacher I love how you explain your process. I’ve had the same experience when using rhinestones in resin for some reason the facets disappear
Thats so beautiful! Also im laughing over here about you saying " use your resin & take note!" I did not take notes ugh! Lolz! I decided last week that I think the reason I was struggling to create these 3d Blooms is because I was using an fda approved expensive very safe, thin crafting resin for glow pigment. I Finally bought some Pro Marine there is definitely a difference in the thickness (viscosity) I'm noticing. I'm back at it now - fingers crossed🍀! Thanks for your videos!!! Everything you create is just always absolutely stunning 💗
I think you put the middle crystal silver side down forgetting that the coaster would be turned upside down when unmoulding. The crystal would have to be upside down to show on the correct side. I love your work and instruction. Thank you.
SO glad to see more blooms, Julie! Thank you for doing some for us. 😊❤ Looking very good, so far. 😁 Love that Shell Pink color! Look at those petals bloom! A shame about the color leaching out. I'se sowwy! But hun...it's still pretty! If you have any clear varnish, maybe you can coat them first to prevent the leaching? I know you don't care to use UV resin, so that might be a good alternative. Or Mod Podge? Oh, heck no, I won't tell anyone! 😆 I ❤ that silver edge! Perfect! The blooms are perfect, too! GORGEOUS! 💮 Oh, honey, I haven't had but 2 wins out of all my pours! You would NOT BELIEVE the comedy of errors that ensued on my pours yesterday. OH boy. I ended up ruining nearly a FULL litre of part A of my 360+! Yes, I did that! *sob* 😭 I poured in a few grams of part B (I had too much in my cup) & somehow I ended up pouring into part A jug. AUGH! 😤 Then, after salvaging what I could (not much!) I *tipped over* my almost full mold (wee snail). Noooo! 😠 Sooo, now I have to order more Platinum *and* try to finish my frog and snail with my last remaining JDiction.
I found some pointy silicone pencil things that r all 1 thing. U wouldn't have to worry about pulling the nib out. I'll go see if I can find it again n get the link
Do you have a suggested book to read about how to use resin for beginners? You are using terms I am unfamiliar with and using some tools I have no idea what you are doing with them, like the torch and the heating gun. Another book I would like to get is one on the various types of resin and what they are used for, the different kinds of pigments, alcohol ink vs powered pigments for colors, and if there are any other kinds. I am so new at being interested in using resin for designing and creating, like 5 days. So I am a green as green one can be. Thanks for your videos (I have seen two already, back to back).
@Balencia's Garden I learned a TON just by watching her videos, resin and acrylic pouring. As for the tools you mentioned: A heat gun is used to remove air bubbles from the mixed epoxy, when you can't apply an open flame. For instance if you have used alcohol inks (just what it sound like, & highly flammable!) OR if your silicone mold is too small, too cheap (Julie's are *fabulous!* ), too close to the Resin's edge. A blowtorch is also used to warm the resin (but it gets SUPER hot) to release air bubbles. It can only be used sparingly and briefly, otherwise the silicone mold can melt and get stuck - permanently - to the resin. Go back to the beginning of her resin tutorials and dive in! And welcome to the wonderful, maddening world of resin, where resin does as it d@mned-well pleases!
Hi ,they look great but don’t use those buttons things they don’t like resin and that one you toss look ok ,did you know you can paint on top of them for blooms.
So I have a question, doesn’t that marker come off when you touch it because I had a resin coaster that I put marker on and it just wiped right off do you have to resin it again?
Iove watching what you make. I would like to make some of the same, but I live in the US and so if you would take the tile to list the comany and the name and colors so we know whwe to get the same stuff.
The centers look pink on the back side. Should they have gone the opposite way? 😏 They look so nice with the silver accent!!! 🥰 Never throw it away!! It could become a real treasure for someone, should you donate it.
If they were faceted in resin the facets disappear in resin. If it was very light color yes I can see how they turned invisible. Still pretty with the mirror like center
Regarding the center… I think they are coated in something like alcohol ink or something that has reacted with your alcohol ink. When I colour my own crushed glass with alcohol inks to put in my resin (once throughly dry), I can’t use or drop alcohol inks over the top of the crushed glass because it causes the ink on it to run. Maybe this is what happened to your center?
The same thing happened to me when I put the sequins into the the resin it just kind of like melted it away disappeared just like happened to you when you put them in your coasters
Any crystal thats faceted will loose those facets when covered in resin or topcoat, there is no may around it when encapsulating them...the bleed I asome is a chemical or heat reaction as the resin cures...they look beautiful regardless.🧡🧡🤍🤍
