Anything you can run a 1/2" or more flake with a pressure flaker.
HEAT TREATING:
Heat treat a few FLAKES of everything you got except HIGH GRADE Raw Stone, Obsidian, Dacite, Basalt, Hornstone, Sonora, Fort Payne, or Rhyolite. Start with flakes and spalls less than 1" thick for 200°F for 24 hours to dry it out. Then raise the temp to 275°F and hold for 4 hours. Let cool down for 12 hours. Chip and compare. If no difference, put back I at 200°F for 1/2 hour, then raise to 275 for 1/2 hour, then raise to 325 for 4 hours.

Repeat with temp going up 50°F until you reach 600°F or nice chippable stone. Whichever comes first. If no good result, or things blow up, let us know.

I attempted my very first knapping project today inspired by and following your videos, I collected a few bottle bottoms and basic tools, a hammer stone, antler and steel pressure flankers and abrasive stone and a leather pad for my leg, all homemade I hasten to add, and set out to knapp an arrowhead, anyway I have reached about the quarter way point taking my time and am finding it really satisfying, enjoyable and therapeutic thanks for all your advice and instruction, most helpful

I remember three channels and the national anthem. No one cussed and anything more than a slight brush of the lips got a PG rating.

You do some fine work there, Jack, and as always, I appreciate your videos. Gives me much to ponder, about flintknapping and life generally. Curious, though, what's that indirect percussion tool you have there? And, indeed, I used to manage a farm, and right along the perimeter, creeping trumpet aka trumpet vine. Beautiful but incessant. Funny enough, like with Virginia creeper, that stuff grows in many different climes. Tough bugger, definitely a survivor.

8:36 pm- EST . Bullock co. Ga. Lots of old hardwoods , pines, creeks, 4 rivers in a less than 50 mile radius. My question is; can I / anyone buy materials, obsidian, black, green! I know green is very special. And different materials. And maybe some leather and a small amount of tools. If anyone can answer these questions, I would appreciate it. I’ll tell my friends about your site . Thanks, either way brother.

I watched a guy do parallel flaking, he sharpened after every flake ,sometimes he would forget to his dismay, and you could see the difference.

I apologize ,my algorithm pulls these guys up that I never heard of, if I find it I'll forward it to you. He would put the first flake straight in then angle the second flake and that is the flake that showed in the final point, each flake was a two step process.

If you haven't already you should check out some of Gabor Mate's videos on ADHD. And maybe try passionflower. Not sure about ADHD specifically but our folks used it to treat a lot of brain related issues, from some of the more severe disorders to anxiety and even addictions. could be helpful cause it seems like a lot of these issues relate to overactivity in the brain and passionflower lessens a lot of that activity.

@@KnapperJackCrafty Oooo, I'd also recommend looking into schizophrenia spectrum disorders. I'm pretty sure I don't have ADHD but I'm slathered in Cluster A personality disorders and they share quite a few similarities with ADHD. I bring it up because there's a gene that predisposes people toward a number of these disorders and it's extremely common in people of Native American descent. it's also relatively common in some european groups. the mutation causes you to develop less dopamine receptors.
