There's a chap called Dean, and he's been popping down the yard for a while, and promising me a proper go in his curiously high powered Rover 25. Well today he turned up up.
Remapped and with a ram air device it's pretty good.

Jolly well done Dean! 👍 Mustard concluded it feels like a ZR. Personally speaking, being slightly less mechanically inclined these days and not really having facilities for undertaking such work on cars, I might need to come up with a slightly more straightforward way of getting a ZR type car!😄 Now you can't really compare even a modified Rover 25 with the Rover 42! 😁 Of course I enjoyed the rapid circling of Dean's car at the end there! 😅

100% pie in the sky power figure I'd knock that on the head pretty sharpish nice project never the less. Those in the know will accept that the rally spec 1.4's will make 190 in na form but there's very little of the standard internal's left by that stage.

140 would be about bob on at the lower figure if on the conservative side.The 84bhp model is only rated at due to the restricted throttle body. Just the unrestricted body will see these up to around 104bhp.

What a good car that is. Bit of a difference between 140 and 160bhp. The ram air system is fantastic But he'd best keep away from deepish puddles coz otherwise that engine would suck up enough water to hydrolock it. So adding a metal injector case and the ram air system adds around another 50bhp? Nahhhh. Sommat else has been done. Did i miss that? And your guitar music is coming on nicely Capn. 👍

It's turbocharged, given that an unrestricted throttle body alone is good for 104bhp so with forced induction around 150+ is very realistic.

@@skylined5534 I have seen old videos of people running the little 1.4 engines over 200bhp turbocharged. If this one was actually turbo then 150/160 feels kinda low, though would be a pretty safe and reliable tune for all stock internals.

Any more detail on its specs? I know 130 bhp is achievable from a 1.4 with MG TF 135 cams, a VVC intake etc, but unless she's had some serious work or somehow has as much air flow as a VVC head, I'd doubt it would be more than that. Still a pukka little car though, not taking that away from him!

I've owned a 2.5 V6, 1.4, and a few 2.0 diesels (MG ZS, Rover 25 and 2x Rover 420's and Rover 75 CDTi). I can't tell if this is satire or not...

Great engines k series, im glad underated, 1.8 gets 140 with these mods not a 1.4 unfortunately. 👍🏻 proper chav spec ❤

I don't believe it, if it was 160bhp I would expect a turbo, if is N/A more like max 10bhp remap.

@@fv7765 Turbo prepped ones definitely hit way over 200bhp. 160 na is possible though, don't think this one has that kind of prep, but considering 2L engines like the k series from honda can hit fair bit more than 200 na, something like 150/160 is definitely possible on a 1.4

Didn't actually say what he'd done to it though did he? For all we know he's put 1800 internals in a 1400 block a decent head with a bit of a map and your getting close to 135\140 hp...but its a "1.4" 🤔

Well you're right about not going into detail and that's my fault for not prompting enough. I know it has quite a bit more than just ram air and a remap. The next video I will make sure I get all of the details.
