Well I've bought one now, it's a 2002 3 door in Anthracite metallic. It goes well but certainly needs revved pretty hard, sounds great when driven hard, it's got a Scorpion exhaust which adds to the drama.
Yeah, the drivers seat bolster on mine looks like a dogs been chewing on it and it's very basic but I guess that's the "charm" of cheap British motors.
Proper proper underrated. At one point you could pick these up with less than 60,000 miles for like 600 quid, so much fun for the money, have destroyed a few though 🤦♂️😂.
@@mrcaboosevg6089 yeah they weren't great to say the least but I most I brought even at low miles had the head gasket done and I didn't personally have one fail. A clean one actually fetches good money specially a MK2 zr160
@@DrCrunkMusic You can get a clean one that needs a head gasket super cheap, it's an easy job too. All you need is new bolts, a gasket of good quality and an afternoon
I like how you driving, exactly like me. The other 99% of drivers are stupid, 60km/h in 5th gear and at the traffic light, they press the clutch and brake then remove the shifter from gear 5.
I don't think that is super healthy either should be revving much more freely, used to pull passed 7k no bother which helps in the longer gears. Maybe there's an underlying issue

Mám ho s odlehčeným setrvačníkem a samosvorem (z Rover 620Ti) a jsem pánem silnic třetí kategorie :-D, protože jak je vidno, do 140 to hrne a pak to umře na slabší krouťák .... jen jsem musel dát dozadu měkčí pružiny, protože ty originální se bez zatížení na příčném hrbu v rychlosti nepoddají a proto mnoho mlaďochů tohle auto rozstřelilo, protože jim nadskočila prdelka :-) Motor sice kvůli euro 3 už není tak točivý, jak u starší 145 koňové verze, ale pořád je to na denní ježdění luxus. Denně po zahřátí jedu celé spektrum otáček a pokaždé tankuji nádrž se spotřebou 8.1.... 1150kg a 160 kobyl, mechanická škrtící klapka.... kdo to dnes má? ;-)
@@edytv4501 Generally yes they're very reliable. The only real issue they have is headgasket failure. Most have been retrofitted with a later headgasket design to prevent the issues that arise. If not it's not an expensive or difficult job to do. They're great cars, personally I think they're much better than the R50 Mini that replaced them. Much better engine and lighter, it's not the fastest car in the world but they're extremely agile!
Umm why Scottish music??? Huh ? It was built in Birmingham ! Better off playing the archers theme or crossroads. Also very irresponsible racing on single track roads cutting up blind bends. Seen on 51,000 for £1750 way over priced for a suped up rover 200
No. This car is an MG Rover product. 95% British. There's a little Honda and BMW in there too! The Chinese company MG Motor was founded in 2006 and started producing its own cars in 2012. They are of no relation to this MG.
