Not necessarily true, an armoire can be used in lieu of an existing closet. The bedroom must have reasonable window egress for a body, be no less than 7 feet in either horizontal direction, and no less than 7 feet high. An appraiser may disqualify a bedroom with an armoire that takes up the necessary SF to have qualified it as such, so a closet would have been ideal.
