As far as the rod holder, put some sand in the bucket after you have all the pvc in it to prevent tipping from uneven weight distribution. It will keep the bottom down and make it harder to tip
In stead of hard bolting the pvc to the bucket i did the pvc thread with a plastic nut. i use a foam washer on both sides of the bucket. i keep my fishing gear in the bucket for weight. when the poles are out and i get a hard bite the rod holder part pivets down and wont flip the bucket.
Thank you my friend, i'm a avid fisherman of 60 years and i never once considered some of these ideas and they are great and i will implement some of them into my fishing regimen. Thank you for these suggestions!
First you make stuff out of PVC. Then you make stuff out of duct tape and velcro, get your stuff from wal mart and harbor freight. Top it off with all of the life saving safety tips. Now you are using 5 gallon buckets to make great stuff? You are now officially my favorite channel. I'm hooked.
Great ideas Kieth. I made a filter for my home bait tank out of a regular 5 gallon bucket and it cracked pretty easily where I plumbed into the side of it so I got one of those square ones and re did it. Those are thicker and more durable, it’s working out great now.
I thought I was the only one who thought "why am I paying every month and not saving a dime" Yea you get thwm extra services like video and music but they sucked also. eBay all day
3:35 walmart sells something similar to that but it only stays on the outside. so if you use that one, you can use the tackle box lid and keep live bait in the bucket
They are plastic bags with an absorbent stuff that that gels pretty instantly, easy disposal in any trash, NO MESSES, my wife likes it way better for boating or camping. No late night flashlight hiked to the outhouse! Great tips keep it up!
Buy duty bags in the camping section at Walmart they are made for those bucket seats and have a chemical similar to a diaper and keep the mess and smell down.
I traveled to California in my 63 ford F-100 to do some construction work and put my tools in 5-gal buckets. I also used them for my clothes . Great water proof luggage.
I had a friend fish offshore with me once and all his tackle was in a bucket. Inside was lead, leaders and line. And on the outside lip, where you showed how to attach the bubbler, he had drilled out like 1/4" holes, and hung all his prerigged trolling lures and rigs! Worked reallly well!
I`ve found that true in a lot of different places. Lot of stores, like walmart, have clearance isles but sometimes go to regular display & find it cheaper
Bucket hack 17.1. I use a bucket for watering newly planted trees and bushes. Drill a hole in the bottom "side" edge. Make it a wee bit smaller than a screw. Fill your bucket full of water, set next to the growing little fella. Take out the screw and BAM! You now have a way to trickle water your new little buddy!!!
I did the PVC bucket rod holder hack. What I did was cut up some of dem pool noodles and put some of them in there to space out the PVC so them rods don't get too bunched together . Good stuff my man, I avoided harbor freight for many years until now. Thanks Cletus!!
all of them ....pretty dang sweet......those SQUARE Craftsman buckets are news to me.....sweet! and easier storage of Plano style containers, I'm sure....
appreciate your comment also....watched a whole bunch of your videos....great info and good knowledge.....i also use PVC tubes to store my poles with their subiki (6) hook lines that always seem to get caught on anything in my van...Curtains , Blankets ,rug etc....what a pain when you have to unhook the hooks every-time they are not stored in the PVC tube...pole slides right in and then right out when ready to fish without getting hooked on anything.....thanks again..
I have a kayak and it came with a 5gal bucket mold. I think I'm going to combine the useful fishing storage hacks into a 6gal bucket. Thanks for the info!
Drift anchors are also called sea anchors. I have several 5 and 6 gallon beer brewing buckets that need to be repurposed. I just found some handy ideas. Thanks.
I never put a stone on the air pump tubing, puts strain on the batteries, run down quicker. To keep the tubing below the water, tie some line with a sinker on the end. Love all your tips, Thank you!
Thanks for sharing!! I love those latching lid boxes for fishing stuff too. I keep a battery in there, wired up some switches and ran all of my electronics, bilge pump, etc through that box. Im sure you have seen other folks do the same. Take care, and keep those diy hacks coming :)
With the toilet bucket. Pick up a bundle of pine shavings from a feed&seed or hardware store. Not only is it great compost for the toilet bucket to cut down the odor, but it is an amazing fire starter/kindling.
Very clever ideas thanks. And remember when working with lead in the form you are, gloves are more important than respiration. Lead paint dust is the dangerous form where a respirator would be necessary for health.
Love your channel. I use my 1 bucket for holding bait for trotlines. Then wash it out and use it to wash down the front deck. We throw water on the deck to help keep the deck (metal boat) cooler. Fill your livewell faster and clean it out. Keep a small bottle of Dawn dish soap. It cuts the stink and slim out of the well. Plus it cut oil from your engine bay.
I had a cat. The Tidy Cat kitty litter from Target makes a good bucket. There are two types of lids though. So get the one you want(one comes all the way off, the other folds back)
Good Stuff! I got my Cable Cuff PRO's from your other video. Man those things sure are nice for keeping my anchor ropes together. Got a 4 pack for 12 bucks.
Ice fishing tip. You can cut the bottom of a bucket out and set it over an open hole in the ice. Throw every fish you do NOT want to keep in it and they swim away. When it looks like you have about twice the legal limit of fish, a surprised Game Warden will try to ticket you... Fun, fun, fun
Well shoot how do i go about writing you. Love to trade some salmon for even frog legs. I want my kids to experience them, they dont believe me when i say they are delicious.
for the bucket lids... usually different colors indicate that they're made out of different grades of plastic. Is the Amazon lid a "food safe"? That would explain why it's more expensive... But sometimes Amazon is just a rip off too!
I agree buddy I never give thumbs down , but I guess it takes all types like they say lol . The thumbs up to thumbs down ratio proves there's more good ppl left in the works I guess
I took your idea and went a different way. I needed to be able to carry some tackle and rods for shore fishing. First I replaced the metal handle on a 5-gallon bucket with a rope handle. I threaded the rope through the plastic handle. I cut some PVC pipes at a 45° then riveted them to the inside of the bucket to hold a knife, pliers, scissors, and a fish grip. I use Plano tackle trays to hold lures, weights, and hooks that slide into the bucket. Everything is right there to grab when you need it. Thanks for all the great ideas.
BarkieDog Sawdust works as well, and weighs less if you are tired of carrying so much heavy stuff..... cause I get tired of carrying everything g down to my boat in the marina.
I cut the bottom out of one, and dug a cat hole, cut the bottom of a trash bag, then line the bucket with trash bag "sleeve", and place over cat hole. We then bury the hole and toss the liner. Bucket stays clean. We used this for "primitive" campsites.
Thank you Sir ,its something I learned over time listening to my subscribers , I leave links too when I can but when they sell out Amazon links tend to go bad . I appreciate it buddy
Honestly sir ya need to make a book... lol.. I would buy it on hard back, DVD, audiobook, and whatever else.. amazon is more expensive if you actually do your homework.love your videos.. I want to do a live well bucket.
Thank you brother , you just have too watch my videos for now lol . I have a cooler live well I love it a lil higher but I use it a lot ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tWH72EynSbY.html
Those gamma seal lids are awesome I actually got a couple of those awhile back... works great for a crab bait bucket and once I run out of bait I rinse it out and put my catch in it when I pull up the traps and if I don't catch anything it gets used as a garbage can for the rest of the day.
Great tips. Good uses for the buckets. We had the toilet cover for the bucket for nights when we’d camp. Mostly for my wife and daughter so they didn’t have to run to the restroom and back in the middle of the night.
I don't know how I wandered into this channel but I'm sure glad I did. This video should be mandatory for... adulthood or something. You're pretty good at this whole RU-vid thing FnS. Thnx!
AWESOME BUCKET HACKS, all 17 of them 👍. The KING of DIY’s did it again 🤴. Another great DIY video my friend. And don’t forget your PPE’s 😎😷🧐. Take care and stay safe my friend Keith.
Found an "On-Sale" power source (20,100 mahour) at Wally World, for $12.88, and at the same time they had some of those TV "Surround Lites" that change colors (LED's on the "sticky-strip") for $5. Bought 2 of them, put the strips on 2 boards, plugged them in, and they last about 6 to 8 hours on "Green" color (the color I use for night fishing). Seemed to work better than no light at all, and I can use all that on my kayak or dock fishing. Kids at the pier liked to play with the controller, making the light automatically change colors (you KNOW how "Kids Are"!). Haha! They aren't water-proof, but I haven't had any trouble with them (one of the controllers went "Deep-Six", though!).
@@MSmith-jf5wo I have looked on Amazon at some of the LED light strips, $22 for 16.5 feet. I seen fishin and stuff build a DIY underwater light. I was just wanting to run 4 strips of green under boat and some inside boat. I'll check on what you said to look at
I liked the bucket hacks. I've done two so far but I plan on doing the rest. I did the bucket hack with the tool jockey and I filled up my bucket and I still have room for more! I'm going to get some more stuff and fill it up. Thanks!
@@tylerluck378 that's true , everyone on different levels when it comes to fishing . Sometime the simplest thing to you , well someone new too fishing hasn't thought of yet , i try not to leave anyone out
I used your 3/4" PVC bucket handle hack and boy howdy does it feel good!! Before placing the 3/4" PVC, I took a length of Gorilla Tape and wrapped the original handle. This made a more secure feel with the PVC handle. Thanks for all of your videos. I find them entertaining sand useful. I do have a hard time understanding the animated fishing lure. Just sayin'.
I buy those gamma seals at menards for $6.95, at a place in Ohio where they make them in colors, they get something like $13 just because they're in colors. It's a scam in my opinion.
For the square bucket, I use two small bungee cords from the holes in bucket to holes in lid. Bucket sits on top of lid and keeps bucket bottom clean for truck seat. Just use two cords on opposite corners and then wipe off lid with paper towel. Plus wider base for those windy days on the bank.
Hey BILLY just wanted to jump in there and say good evening to you hope you and your family are doing well and I hope none of the Kentucky flood water gets anywhere close to your house well keep your line wet and I’ll be talking to you BILLY🎣👍🇺🇸
Go to your local pool store they have bigger buckets with screw on lids that they will give you. My aunt has probably 200 sitting behind her pool store waiting on people to come get them for free.
That Husky tool slip would make a great ice fishing tackle box for ice rod holders. Another cool lid for those buckets are the ones that have a seat warmer attached to them from Frabill and HT Enterprises which is great for keeping your butt warm while your ice fishing. There’s even a seat lid with a swivel on the market to move your body around
the bucket hacks for live wells and minnow buckets are cool! one step further, if you haven't cat and use the tidy cat litter, those tubs are either 3 or 5 gallon and the lid is split so you only gave to open half if it to get in it. add an aerator and wa-lah minnow bucket or live bucket
