@@sawinery-woodworking You're very welcome. I have copied the URL and posted into our FB group of woodworkers. This is more valuable than any JIG on YT!

Micro jig push blocks can be set up to stop most of the kick backs. Agree with you, Crosscut sleds are also great. The new Bow extender fence with the foam feather boards are what every table saw needs.

Personally, I find that standing to the side of the kick-back zone, because of the position of my hands, helps keep the piece pushed against the rip fence.

Thanks for taking your time to make a great safety vid , as passing your knowledge on is muchly appreciated It’s amazing that you can just buy a tablesaw with no idea what your dealing with or how to use one , I learnt a lot just though this vid as a beginner wood worker which will give me a lot more confidence using it , so thanks again

I made the mistake of using my fingers as a feather board on a piece of wood which became narrower towards the end and my middle finger briefly came into contact with the blade. I'm lucky I only got a very small skindeep cut on my fingertip.

That's a lot of good info.

I use 1 shoe style and shipped push stick for my cuts. Shoe pushes, stick guides the off-cut. Wonky boards are run through the saw against my 4ft spirit level to straighten the first edge. As I use pallet wood this is usually long enough. I clean my blades as and when the pitch gets built up. An old rubbish bin lid is my wash tub for this. Haven't had the saw run long enough to send out the blades for sharpening YET, but soon. Thanks for post here. Take care & stay safe.

Did your saw come with a guard?
@sawinery-woodworking

Yes, my table saw has a blade guard; but like many woodworkers, I’ve found that I can’t use it for a lot of the cuts I need to make. So, I make sure that I use push sticks to protect my hands.

Great video. I've also been doing this for half a century. I tell people to use the guard that came with the saw unless you absolutely cannot do it with it on. Also if your riving knife rises above your blade because the guard attaches to it then buy a second one and cut or grind it so it sits lower than the top of the blade. You can get more money but you can never get more fingers. Also, something he didn't mention is the very first time you use a dado go slower than you normally do. The dado stack does not cut as fast as just a single blade and it might surprise you how it feels when you are pushing the board through. That's how I got my first injury in high school 50+ years ago. Make some push sticks. There's a lot of videos on it and it will give you practice working with the tools while you are making them. And one rule I tell people that is written in stone is never have your hand or any finger go above the throat plate. It's a very visible way to tell you that you are too close to the blade.

If you can't trust your gages, what's the point of putting them on there?
@sawinery-woodworking
@sawinery-woodworking 18 дней назад
It all depends on the level of accuracy you need. They are fine for some things; but if you want to cut a mitered box, I wouldn’t trust the gauges for that.

Love your videos but that wonky background music/sounds is annoying.
