Kyra I have cut off a lot of people in my life for the exact reason that I don’t feel like we are like minded . It would be a blessing to have a friend like you in my life . Love your channel , you’re so positive and give great advice! God bless you 💕
I’m currently on a detox from Instagram. It’s only been a week but I’m feeling a lot less anxious, I’m getting more done in my home, and I feel overall so much better.
Hanging out with like minded ppl will really benefit you! That's so true! I'm the only 'Minimalist in progress' I know and have a couple of buddies that are supportive and understanding...only 2 buddies! The rest are good friends...but are mostly maximalists.
Christine O I'm the only one near me, but my mom is trying and my aunt many states away has begun decluttering around the same time as me. Thank goodness for technology for support from long distance relationships and like minded people online!
I killed my social media presence before January and stopped watching the news since January 1st....I edited my home page on my comp to information of interest Nutrution Money saving tips Feel good stories Animals Sustainable lifestyles Writing & Writers Books Healthy & Wellness And its been great...not being bombarded with news crap as soon as I get online so its been awesome changing up my news feed and getting info on topics I actually am interested in....RU-vid has really been my go to for all things of interest and I am very picky about what I subscribe to....I am not a trendy person so I only like to watch things of interest and of similar content....GREAT VIDEO 💜
It really is the hardest thing ever specially when your phone is your main alarm 🤦🏻♀️ but it takes a couple weeks to break that habit. Once you do your golden 🙌🏼
I limit my phone calls and cell phone usage. I don't expect phone calls after midnight (I work late night shifts). If it can wait, I call the next day. Same for voicemail and text messages...I respond back the next day. If ppl call and don't leave any messages at all I get back to them later on. I don't treat it as a priority. Unless... there's a call that is super important of course. That's the only exception. I can't stand it when ppl are social chatting on the phone nonstop (I would understand if it is work or crisis related). I met up with a friend last year at a restaurant. I have not seen her in 7 months! And the thing that upset me the most is she was on the phone with her husband for 45 mins having a domestic dispute. I told her that if she needed to go home she can go and we can meet up some other time. She just said 'a few more mins'.... and kept going... She didn't even notice that I left the table, talked to the server, paid my bill and tip, then left the restaurant. I left a written note for the server to give to her. The note simply stated that I took a day off work and spent almost 2 hours on public transit just to see her for our girls get together. It was completely unacceptable for her to be spending the time chatting with her husband (who she sees everyday!) about home Renos. (Yes the convo was an argument about furniture and paint colours that couldn't even wait until she got home!) I learned a lot from the experience that time is valuable and you should not waste it on someone who does not value yours. This is why I limit my phone and social media usage.
I want to add one habit that changed my life : check your priorities and act upon them. That made me much more punctual for instance when meeting friends because I consciously decide that this is more important than finishing laundry. Or deciding what to spend my spare time on, now that I intentionally set priorities I am much more content at the end of the day because I get the things done that were most important to me (meeting friends, finishing things up, being myself) than the less important things (ironing 😂 etc). I am happier, more centered, make decisions more easily and longer lasting ones, too, and my home is tidier as well. It's magic😊
Hi Kyra, totally agree with not watching the news. And it is not only Usa news it is everywhere. You can always find informations on the internet if you need. It is so negative and make raise stress and anxiety the news. Nothing is worse than that for your body and mind.
I've been watching your videos since 2019 and you inspired me a lot. I'm excited for October 2020 as I will finish my loan on that month. Thank you for the inspiration.
Your videos meant alot to me. It helped me to find my inner peace. You are a such inspirational person. Thank you for all the effort you put in your videos . Thanks for your existence in my life. ♥️♥️♥️
Just want to say that I appreciate your videos and the conversations that you have. Your insight has been amazing to hear and very helpful. I look forward to watching each video, even if I don’t agree or adopt everything you say - I still appreciate hearing about it and have implemented some things! It’s so true what you say about surrounding yourself with likeminded people. Like, no it doesn’t need to be a cookie cut clone, but be willing to feed off of each other. Sending much love to ya, and ps. I’m from Massachusetts (western mass) and your accent is so cool! 🥰 Maybe we can meet some day!!💁🏻♀️ keep up the great videos girl, I’ll be supporting!😊👍 -Adriana
I wholeheartedly agree about the news. I don’t watch tv often, but I did follow a lot of news pages on Facebook. The activist in me wanted to be hyper aware, but it was killing my mental health. I narrowed it down to a couple news pages, and I strictly only keep news on Facebook so when I need a mental break, I can just avoid the app. I also use screen time on the app to help keep me off my phone which has helped for this as well ❤️ I highly recommend following “Good News Network” and similar positive news pages :)
Great habits, i need to work on a sleep routine, listen more rather than just hear and also to finish decluttering. I never listen to the news as here in the UK it is pretty much all doom and gloom. It is so true what you say about mixing with like minded people, it is so refreshing to talk to people who have an interest in what you say rather than just talking about the latest thing they have brought.
Im not addicted to fb, insta, and other social media... But I love RU-vid... Heheheh learned many things... Thank u for inspiring me to be a minimalist...
I agree with not watching the news. That’s why I don’t have cable! The news just puts me in such a bad mood because it’s so negative. Rarely do I ever see anything positive. My mom always watches the news.. every. Single. day. And I get stressed out.
These are great! I’ve definitely been struggling with finding like minded people. I dance to the beat of my own drum and it’s really hard to find those that accept me for who I am.
I’m a 51 year old public school art teacher from Milwaukee. I love your channel. I’m inspired and impressed. You have moxie and gumption. Keep doing you, you rock! ❤️🤗 stay safe sweetie!
I am so glad I saw this video, I have had to learn to do what I can, when I can. I have a bad back so it often limits what I can do. I am working on a routine for housework. My husband works from home, so I am limited as to what I can do during the day. On the weekends we try to spend quality time together, so it ALL is never done. Also I write down daily everything that I spend so I can see where my money is going and figure where I can cut back. Just this week I paid off one of my two credit cards and now will apply the extra money to the other card to get it paid off soon.
I did a social media detox for two weeks and it’s like I got everything done. It was amazing. I may do this two weeks every month and just get on there to post some pics or whatever then delete them again.
Ha ha! Totally agree! I never watch the news. People say the same things to me about the news. I just say...you know what? I can’t escape it because people like you are always talking to me about it anyway...it’s nearly impossible to escape it or NOT hear about what’s going on in the world. Even when I go to the doctor or dentist it’s always on their TV 🤦♀️.
I'm in the uk but I don't watch the news here in the UK we have to pay £150 a year TV licence just to be able to watch the TV when I moved 6 years ago I struggled to get TV signal so got rid of my free view box and canceled my TV licence I mostly watch RU-vid or sometimes Netflix or dvds tho I recently de cluttered my dvds so halve about 1/4 of what I did own also I work in the same kinda job as you lol I work in the kitchen at a care home for the elderly xx
@@asimplealtar just seams rediculous don't it buy a TV pay electric then pay to watch it again for mostly just adverts the only think I miss is grand designs and escape to the country cuz I'm secretly 70 🤣🤣
I live in Los Angeles so the news is really depressing. In a 2 minute span they will talk about who was killed, robbed and assaulted. I do watch channel 1 here which actually tells you about the city, things to do and more uplifting info.
I live in the UK and to watch/read or listen to the News reporting from the USA is painful. The USA over exaggerate everything and make news so dramatic. British news is to the point and fact based leaving the viewer informed and able research further themselves.
If you listen to the news or even read the newspaper you are forced with there opinions to and also wath they think is important so i stopped years ago
