Just found this channel. Hello from the UK. Great channel and very interesting. You make me very pleased we have only one venomous snake here, the Common Adder. The Adder is very British. It keeps itself to itself and is very slow to anger.

About stakes "staring". They don't have eyelids, so they always appear to be staring.

On a funny note a few years back in Adelaide on a hot dry day. A beautiful big red belly came up from the drain onto the footpath. In the middle of the city, It was like Moses parting the ocean. I'm laughing so hard my cousin is a snake catcher so I been around a lot of snakes have a healthy respect for them. Trying to explain to people that the poor snake is more scared of them and trying to find a safe place. Along comes a snake catching picks up the poor terrified snake and takes it away. Now spiders send me screaming out of the room snakes I love.

I once had a dog walk directly over a fairly large rattlesnake and not get bit. The temperature was fairly cool (maybe 55 - 60 F or 13 - 16 C), which probably meant the snake was pretty groggy. The snake was stretched out on a rock sunning, trying to get warm enough to function. I don't think the dog even realized it was there. I tossed a few pebbles near it, hoping I could get it to rattle, but it just crawled off into tall grass to hide.

Snake wasn't groggy just cold and Bec they are cold blooded when the outside temps are cooler so is the snake so they don't move as fast However this is the worst time to touch them
