Edit, The Dustox/Beautifly Battle Takes place in Veilstone City Edit 2: Several people have pointed out that the "super effective" tag only shows up after you encountered the pokemon before, that may be the reason it does not show up.

It might be worth pointing out that during the contest section of the trailer we do see Buneary has Charm which is a Fairy Type move meaning we will have that type unlike the original games on the DS

I remember going on serebii at school the day they showed the three Sinnoh starters and I turned into a raving fanatic for months waiting for the game cuz the starters were all so cool. Then the day after I got the game I left my ds on the bus and cried myself to sleep cuz my bus was full of people who would keep a ds but some random kid saw me running after the bus and gave it back to me in the morning. Still gives me hope for humanity despite it not really being that big of a deal 15 years later

Don't forget Fairy types and even gen 8 moves. Leech Life gets that 80 power boost, that'll be a nice early Bug move

Super effective icon only ever showed up when you had the entry of the opposing Pokémon already, if this is the first geodude he encountered, there wouldn’t be an icon!

Clarification: You’ll be using the touch screen a lot for the Underground. You tap the screen, and the sparkles on the wall appear. That explains that radar overlay. The sparkles on the map show where those sparkles are, and there are usually more than just one clumped together. The statues affecting the orb in the base seems to be based on type advantages, as well as number and size of statue, though we can’t say for certain. As well, I think the reason why Onix is that small is because in Heartgold and Soulsilver, Onix in the overworld was that small. So bigger Pokemon can follow you everywhere and not disappear for smaller narrowed areas. It’s no big deal to me, since we’re tiny chibi characters and not full scale humans in the overworld. Please play the game. As much as it’s fun listening to someone whose never played the games talk about the games, you gotta experience them for yourself so you know what you’re talking about.

I don’t think we’ll be using the touch screen for the underground on the switch like we did in the og games. My guess is that an L/R button will be used instead. Completely agree with you on the statement that he should play the game, a lot of his commentary made me cringe when a lot of the mistakes he made was plainly basic info from the game

I mean I understand small enough to fit and look good in contrast to chibi trainer but that is too small specially if the onyx following you is that size. They don't have to be so big that they can be ridden or that they disappear every time they bump on the side but compared to the other Pokemon we saw i.e. Tangrowth who seems bigger than Onyx, Onyx will look pathetic...🥺

Not sure if it’s already been mentioned by someone else but it looks like the Union Room is the general name for the player connectivity feature. The Union Room contains both the Local Room (for local comm stuff) and the Global Room (for online comm stuff). It’s like how in SwSh you have Y-Comm and press + to switch between Local Communication and Online. Hope that makes sense!

I heard it was a possibility that they'd remove the game corner, but I didn't know they were doing it for sure until this trailer. I guess it does make sense though, what with TMs not breaking anymore, and most items and vitamins being farmable for bp or money late game. Still sad to see it go.

In the turtwig battle scene where they showed its moves, turtwig knows/learns leafage which didn't exist in the og games :D makes me wonder what kind of newer moves we're getting and if we're going to see any mon with its fairy typing. also yes piplup above all

@@clashwithdaragh Hoping that Luxray can get Zing Zap or at least Wild Charge at an earlier level via level up, level 80 is ridiculous for a base 90 attack that also exists as a TM/TR lmao. Orrrr they can buff Spark’s base power to like 85 or something and have it learn it at a later level, like in the 30s/40s or something. And Wild Charge can be buffed to 120 base power like nearly every other recoil move. Luxray and Zebstrika would very much appreciate those buffs 🥲

Also of note, in the User Interface section you can see that Turtwig now can learn Leafage. So we can assume that various Pokemon are getting revamped movepools.

So so far with the video, the ring wouldn’t really “notify” you if you got close but most likely do what it did in the original where you had to click the screen to see if you were close. But I’m guessing it’ll be mapped to a button like right trigger. As for munchlax in the originals you could only get it via the honey trees within four trees. Two of which were based off of your trainer ID (which websites online could tell you) but the other two needed your secret ID and that was impossible without cheats.

Diamond and pearl were the last Pokémon games I played when I was younger. I'm 28 now, and This past Father's Day my wife bought me a Nintendo switch so I got sword and shield. As someone that skipped all the other games in between, I think sword and shield are really good games. I'm excited that I got back into Pokémon at the right time.

@@ItsScapeGoated yeah that's true, it is too easy. But I do enjoy the exp. share feature. I have a 4 year old and don't have time to grind lol one feature I don't like much is how easy it is to find their evolutions. Kinda makes you feel deflated after training your Pokémon throughout the game.

The "It's Super Effective" font could show up after you battle the Pokemon, its possible that they are showing us footage of first encounters with the Pokemon shown.

I was 10 when I got the Diamond game and a blue Ds. I just turned 25 (born the same year as the Pokemon franchise), and hearing the music from diamond and pearl makes me incredibly nostalgic. I played through Diamond and Platinum at least 5 times each. It's my favorite generation, and my Empoleon was my first level 100 pokemon. I am so excited to play these games!

well in ORAS the Hoenn dex was revamped to include cross-generation evolutions like gallade and frosslass so that's probably what they'lldo, Nat dex or not

@@CheeseTank12 Except Magnezone evolved with a special magnetic field, which that actually exists in Sinnoh.. Mt. Coronet.. and also Leafeon and Glaceon also have the mossy and ice stones in physical locations in Sinnoh too...

Remember, the interface telling you how effective a move is only appears after the first time you've seen the pokemon. It doesn't show up for the first encounter with that pokemon. We can't say for sure that it won't be implemented in these games.

I really wish they expanded on that. They started in USUM with throwing styles (maybe in the originals as well) and would be cool to add catchphrases as well. Sad to see they turned away from it altogether but maybe they will go back to it.

I never played Diamond or Pearl as I was a married man focusing on my 1 year old at the time of release. I did however play the Gen 1 games (I had Red) on my Gameboy Pocket when it was released. Last year my daughter got me into the Switch (which resulted in me buying my own console) and she had Pokemon Lets Go Eevee. As a result I ended up getting all the other games on it and her n I play together reliving my childhood n expanding my now second childhood. The more I hear on BDSP the more I am excited for its release. I am only torn now on after the double box preorder set is in my hand which do I give her and which do I keep to play on my own.

In the union room, you can also notice that the NPC-based avatars change their skin tone, most likely to match that of your player character. I wonder if the regular NPC trainers you find around can Sinnoh will also have a few more varied skin tones?

A point on the super-effective thing for the move UI: As it's a trainer battle, we don't know if the player has caught a geodude yet. As far as I recall, in SWSH at least, it only shows up if you've caught the pokemon.

I wanna point out that fairy type was basically confirmed in the trailer (which means that Cynthia is going to be way easier ) we can see that the move Charm is used in the contest and it has a fairy icon and pink color. I’m glad they added fairy type but I truly hope this game remains hard as I remember it

On the official website for the games, one of the screenshots for the Global Room shows a Bidoof and its Pokedex number is 399, which may confirm some sort of national dex. I'm guessing the dex will only go up to gen 4, which is still pretty cool

I'd say for me it was less hate and more disinterest mixed with disappointment since it didn't seem to have too many differences from the originals til this recent trailer revealed more. I'd already played Diamond for a long enough time that what they initially revealed just turned me away especially with Legends Arceus being revealed alongside it. While things like the cloths don't interest me the pokemon hideaways being added to the underground is definitely a step in the right direction for me getting it.

We don’t want to hate the games, far from it actually. We give a lot of criticism because we love the series, and criticism can help developers know what steps to take, and from this trailer, the team that’s making it, unlike the team that made Sword and Shield, are showing that they are listening to criticism, which is really good.

Very cool analysis! I think the thing with the jade Charizard and Venusaur statues could be connected to the fact that back with the originals on the original DS and DS lite systems you were able to put the Advance games (Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, Fire Red, and Leaf Green) into the slot to be able to obtain specific PKMN on various routes. It's at least the first thing I thought when I saw them. Anyway! I can't wait to play them! It looks super adorable already and it seems like they put a lot of work into it! :D Hopefully they'll add the complete national dex! Would be great to be able to get all Mons again :D

I like to play the originals before the remakes come out and I had a blast playing through ORAS after I played through RSE. It’s not for everyone, but I like to do it as kind of a refresher before I play

I think the super effective markers will be there, just not for the first time battling a certain Pokémon. Also I think the Union room could be a term for both the rooms, not a third room separate from the global and local rooms.

From what I've heard about HMs they are back kinda as an unlockable passive power for your Pokemon like in the Pokemon Ranger games instead of taking up a move slot. So you may have to build your team a little around that, but at least you don't have to waste move slots anymore.

Maybe the reason the orb was red in the underground was because Charziard was placed first and its point value is the same as vensaur so to turn the orb green you would need one more point in grass

I think the reason for the Onix being so small it’s maybe because it’s now spawning, it’s something I’ve noticed while playing Let’s Go when multiple Pokémon are on screen (maybe from the slower frame rate of the Nintendo switch)

Pokemon are scaled down to a manageable overworld size. Go back and look at HeartGold and SouldSilver. These remakes are essentially using that.

The statues in the underground influence the pokemon you find in the underground. I believe this was stated in the presents after the trailer was shown. Im betting that you can purchase those statues for the chance to find Charmander, Bulbasaur, etc... Perhaps the color of statue shows the rarity of pokemon.

One thing I did find fun to learn is that there will be changes in movesets. For example, in the gym battle with Cranidos and Turtwig, that Turtwig knows some new moves in the remakes: Growth and Leafage. I really like this change bc it opens the door for other Pokemon to gain new moves as well

One more interesting thing. At about 19:28 we can see Turtwig having acess to Leafage and Growth, both moves that it did not learn before. It´s wierd that they would rework Learnsets in a Remake.

Another thing I noticed; the clip that shows the player speaking with Cynthia in the trailer takes place in Eterna city and you can see the galactic building in the background is in fact the one that shows up in the diamond/pearl versions of the game. Another instance of including Diamond/Pearl content and not the "upgraded" version of the building we got in Platinum.

In the original Diamond and Pearl, when you're underground, the dots you see on the map for treasure spots, spawn and despawn on their own. You could sit there and wait for them to reappear. You could be seeing what is related to that function. Hopefully going in and out of the hideaways helps refreshes. You couldn't go into the base to refresh. I don't think leaving and coming back refreshes either due to the sections being segregated.

At one point they showed a Cherrim SUNSHINE-form being released from a ball. Usually the Overcast-form is released and then it transforms. I don’t know what that means.

20:15 I feel i gotta point out that that fight is most likely the first Geodude you're encountering in the game. so the super effective thing might not be gone. it doesn't show up if you don't have the pokemon in your dex

12:40 I imagine your gonna use the gems that you collect in the underground to craft specific statues. If you go a little back you see the green gems and then the green statues probarbly crafted from the green gems. The red one looks tiny so probarbly more rare and implies that certain statues will be rare to make by default because of the frequency you encounter the gems. This is a great reward system for the underground because now theres inventives to gems more than money since certain statues are unlock certain areas and the rarity makes certain areas rare. Love it.

Actually the colors aren't connected to the size of the gems as there were a few different sizes along with colors for a gem to come in reflecting their worth to traders in the underground via a number that could be changed by "planting" them in the floor so they could "grow". As a side note you could also combine gems of the same color this way to speed up the growth.

11:10 I believe the R button next to the minimap is what triggers the pulse, since Im pretty sure in DPPt you manually triggered the pulse to detect nearby dig spots
