Everyone is welcome to their preferences! It sounds like you may not be the target audience of this channel, the goal of which is to make the timeless truths that Spurgeon taught as accessible/understandable as possible to our time without losing any of the meaning.

@@HearSpurgeon I'm glad for him to be made more accessible to modern ears! I'm just an odd, old fashioned type of girl, who adapted to old timey phrases by reading Jane Austen and Spurgeon prayers. ;-)

@@lilacDaisy111 Lol, I'm the opposite! The "old timey" language often hinders me from benefitting from treasures of the past. Consider your "oddness" as a gift!

@@HearSpurgeon I understand! The first time I watched Pride and Prejudice, I kept asking what they said, and the deep meaning of most of it went over my head. Must be like learning a second language -- you eventually get it lol.

Hello! I believe most Christians have interpreted the talents in this parable to refer to the time, talents (abilities) and treasures which the Lord has entrusted to each of His people. Yet it is certainly an act of faith to use what He's given us for His purposes.

@@HearSpurgeon that's the problem with the gospel, you can either try to interpret it and thus lean on your own understanding and get it wrong; Or you can walk in the doctrine teaching of Jesus called the Way and repent to the acknowledging of truth and see that truth in the gospel as a witness to the truth now in you. That truth reveals God's love and you are to submit to walking in it abide in it and become One in it. In increasing measure until your measure of faith is full and sufficient to your belief in Jesus. Do it your way and you will go to hell because your faith will have no fruit your belief will have no reason. The gosple is the tree of knowledge of good and evil...use it wrong and suffer, use it right and know Jesus personally in the love truth reveals. PERIOD!!!!!

The talents in the parable are not gifts & abilities, you are right, they were sums of money. But the principle still applies to money, time - everything that God is lending to us. "What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?" (1 Cor 4:7) So the sermon hit the nail right on the head. God is the sovereign, not us. He has the right to do as He will with all His creation, because it's all His. If you trace all good things back to the source ... Do you have faith? Do you have eternal life? Do you love Christ? How did that come to be? Was it you, your will, your working or GOD, His will & working? It all flows from the great fountain head - God Himself. "Every good thing given & every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow." ( James 1:17) The point is that everyone belongs to GOD (not that all are in Christ's bosom or that all will be, but He created everyone) & all we have belongs to Him - everything is His & we will all face the bar of God & He will take account of what we did with all that He lent to us. And only by His grace will anyone have used His talents rightly.

@@Mind_of_MATT still have to say the talents represent our measures of faith. And faith is empty of the works of faith and faith without works is dead. Each person had a measure and each measure had to be filled if it wasn't then they were not allowed to enter the masters kingdom. We know only belief in God the Father and God the Son Grant's us entry into Heaven. And only faith produces believing. 'Add to your faith goodness, knowledge, selfcontrol, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love for if you possess these qualities in increasing measure they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. How you fill your faith with all of this is by walking in the Way in/of Jesus. His doctrine. You are trying to translate the gospel with the gospel but that is the Way of evil. But if you walk in the Way in/of Jesus then the gospel becomes a witness to the truth you find in repentance then the gospel becomes a filling of your faith with the knowledge of Gods love that the knowledge of God's Righteousness reveals. Thereby giving you the proven reason to believe in Jesus for he is our Righteousness. We don't know Jesus but by his truth and the love that his truth reveals that we are to discern, to submit to, to abide in and be transformed to become One in and with. That love enters are heart of faith and becomes the Substance of things hoped for the Evidence of things unseen. And if the love is real then so is he who reveals. And your faith is full. But if you try to interpret the gospel leaning on your own understanding you will fall. Just like Eve did in the garden, when the serpent devil caused her to rethink what she knew from God to change her mind and interpret with her own understanding .
