And your journal and art work, as well as your poetry, is great. Three weeks without you and Zephyr! Fridays will not be the same:) Loved the atmospheric stories from Abraham's Valley. Couldn't agree more that animal companions (aren't we animals too?) bring so much love, joy and freshness into our lives and the loss is deeply felt. It is fantastic that you keep record, photographic and in journal of your observations of the birds, plants, trees and animals. These documentations are of significance , highlighting the diversity and number of animals still thriving in and around our waterways. It is heartening for many of us to still get to see that they are numerous enough in number to still be observed in their natural habitat. It is reassuring for us to know that nature is still going strong. I really enjoyed this journey with you.

Lovely video, my husband was working for a haulage firm across from there at Great Haywood when he died ten and a half year ago. I could see the boats from the cab of his truck, such memories, have a very Merry Christmas and New Year 💕

If I was still teaching catch-up for private students struggling with grades in their English exam, lifting exam performance from a predicted D to F up to B or even A, I would be wanting to use this poem as an example of how to use words and sounds within words and teaching the technicalities of a good poem based on this poem. That was so much fun, Vanessa; watching all of 2023 episodes in conjunction with the Nature Journal of a Narrowboater. I have loved cruising with you, Zephyr and the elusive Mr M. I only have 5 months worth of episodes to get up to date with your current cruises and then it will be sad because I shall have to wait a whole week for my nature and mindfulness fixes! I am proud to be one of your patrons and I hope we are all enabling you to carry on with your valuable work!
These videos are amazing because at times you come across like this sort of almost ditzy, maybe a slightly slapstick Essex girl but then....at the end of the videos, there's this incredibly good poetry & artwork, pulled-off by lady who's clearly very intelligent and talented.....it leaves me in awe every time I watch.

People on the canals and rivers are, on the whole, the friendliest people, there’s a “we are all in this together “ mentally among the boating community which is quite unique and very special. Lovely video, close to my home! My dad used to own a narrow boat, so the waters round where you filmed this episode are very familiar to me. I’m glad to say the sightings of Kingfishers are a regular spot for most of the year, what a privilege it is to see them. I’ve been living next to “The Chase” for most of my life & as a keen walker & biker up there I’ve never seen Big Foot, The black eyed girl or a werewolf. These are all well documented phenomenon locally. As a mountain biker I ride through the winter months at night up there and these stories are never far from my mind, in fact I think they make me ride faster! Years ago myself and a friend had an encounter with something which we weren’t sure of in Abraham’s Valley. Our conclusion after some investigation, was it was possibly the noise of a big cat. Sadly apart from running deer coming from where we heard the mysterious noise, there was no sighting of anything feline. I still believe there are creatures about up in the forest we don’t know about even if they are just passing through… Anyway please keep doing what you do. I love the canal network especially close to home. Cheers John b😎

What a lovely video Vanessa 😊 I live in my lorry all week and I’m in Belfast this week so your videos are helping me relax while I’m waiting to return home 🏡 on Friday. My job is moving a mobile MRI scanner around the country and Ireland 🇮🇪 where we scan poorly or injured woofs or other animals that need a scan. I sit at a vets for three days so watching zephyr & you on your journey is so beautiful 😍 take care love Stevie xxxx

So peaceful that kind of boating. Im much older now and single. No more little speedboats with crazy huge ridiculous motors. Last few years when I see a narrow boat video...i watch it. Last week I saw a video of this boat that delivers different fuels to boaters all along the canals. Found that very interesting. Nice life. Nice to see my back garden on your vlog... You were in Brocton Coppice, which is an ancient woodland. I live full-time in my van and often park over the Chase. If you were close to the Shooting Grounds then you probably saw the Stepping Stones, which were originally from the gatehouse at Stafford Gaol... Happy Christmas..
