I have just retired and am building a shanty boat to travel the rivers with as well. I live in north Alabama, so I will definitely be heading up the Tn. River out of Guntersville. If your still on the river maybe we will meet up. Have enjoyed going through your videos, it helps seeing the different marinas on the river. Grew up a river rat on the Mobile Delta, ready to return to my river days, selling the Harley and building the boat. Safe travels friend 😎✌

I thoroughly enjoy binge-watching your videos. They provide an excellent way to spend a few hours in the background on a Sunday as I tackle workshop tasks and wrap up a project. Martin, it is quite fascinating (though I do not advise this for anyone who hasn't been trained to handle snakes closely) to observe how friendly water moccasins can become once they realize you pose no threat. If you keep a bucket of small bait fish nearby, these snakes are perceptive enough to recognize individual humans. Growing up on Blackwater Bayou in Florida, I developed a reputation for being avoided by others while fishing, as I often had several of these snakes around me. For over a year, a large female, measuring over three feet, would coil up beside me (or on me, though I would gently move her to fish more comfortably) and patiently wait, knowing that the smaller fish I caught would come her way. They can even spot you approaching and swim towards you, which tends to frighten most people; however, this behavior is simply a result of their conditioning to being fed and understanding that you mean them no harm. They remain as wild and wary of strangers as they typically are, which further illustrates their remarkable intelligence.

cool video! I really enjoy seeing other shanty boats. When I go to my marina when its crowded there's always people wanted to go for a tour of my shanty boat. After I show them they say they are going to build one. Ha! Ha!

I know people who travel the rivers. They will plant seeds and later in the year when they come back they have a crop to pick. Never been a better idea when you travel like you do.

You have engineered the right life for sure! Your buddy's boat is a great weekender, but yours is built for living the best life, wood stove and all. I definitely want to build one. We live 2 miles from a 75 sq mile lake. It'll be perfect for week long 0 stress life. Coffee as the sun rises kinda stuff. Thanks for sharing. Oh yeah, get a trolling motor! Lol
