My heart! I've only watched the opening city footage so far. My husband & I have been together 22years, married 18. We live in NE Ohio now but spent our Salad Days in Cape Canaveral when he was an engineer at NASA & I had a photo studio. He severed his arm (it was reattached) & was diagnosed w/an aggressive form of non Hodgkins lymphoma. (He survived) We took a trip before treatment started & it was to St. Augustine. The opening footage struck a chord w/me & reminded me of that time so long ago. 🥲 Okay! Off to look at the house! 💞

You both do such a bang-up job on your respective jobs: Kevin- you need to make your way into music editing for films. Laine: the amount of history and house story depth you bring to this (with very little prep time) is so impressive. Not to mention the fact that you are a total “One-Take Tessie” as they used to say in the biz. Don’t know how you guys pull it off! As a native Floridian that grew up in Tampa and has visited St. Augustine many times, I will say that this city has an interesting diversity of architectural styles. It’s a neat place to visit! I’m half Spanish, and what I’ve observed is that the Spanish love arches, wrought iron, and courtyards. My favorite thing was the courtyard with all the gorgeous pots of flowers! I’m living in a house built in 2006, but what sold the house for me was it had a very nice courtyard with beautiful oak trees overhanging. It’s like having your garden in your house. Thanks for sharing this very interesting home; St. Augustine is such a neat place to visit.

As an almost lifetime Floridian, St. Augustine is near and dear to my heart. I appreciated hearing the history lesson about why the houses were built right on the street and were connecting. I never knew that. The house itself is a treasure, and very well done.

I’m a wee bit confused… Santa Fe is beautiful but was founded by the Spanish 45 years AFTER St Augustine. Santa Fe 1610, St Augustine 1565. Now both had indigenous cultures dating back hundreds of years prior, but if we are talking European colonization then St Augustine is older.

@@venetianphantom Yes actually. We enjoy our long shoreline surrounded by the usually cooler Atlantic Ocean on one long side and the almost bathtub warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. While we rarely have snow, we do experience vastly different temperatures and weather conditions. It's not always hot and humid.

Absolutely fabulous and wonderful history. I'm restoring a carriage house and will be showing parts of this to my contractors for my "I need this" list. Also, this video could be a shopping list for furniture and appliances I want. My goodness! All of this - just wow!!!

I love St. Augustine! My family and I stayed in the cutest little 1920s bungalow near the historic downtown area about two years ago, and my kids still talk about how much they loved it. I would love to see more tours of buildings there. There is so much history.

Laine and Kevin. I have walked past those homes many many times. I grew up in Brevard County from 1963 on. Then I left to go to college "Orlando" and preferred weekends in St.Augustine. So beautiful there and many years ago my favorite place for taking family. History just pores through there. Loved your tour of the house. Thank you so very much!

Stunning dress, Laine! Such an interesting history with this one. The original doors and shutters are fantastic. I too appreciate the excellent job keeping the kitchen cohesive with the rest of the downstairs. Something about those rustic beams and irregular 'stone' blocks made me want to decorate the rooms in "Pirate style", lol. The upstairs definitely has an 'early teens' vibe, which is so well done, with the wonderfully matched wallpapers and bed linens. Extra points for the period looking sinks, etc. I wonder if back in the day, the bay came right up to the courtyard wall, with boat moorings a step away. I know that homes in Old Alexandria (VA) which were once right on the river, are now several blocks away due to landfill. I do like how you two mix things up and keep it interesting. :)

Love St Augustine! The best meal I have ever had in my life was at #1 Main Street in St Augustine. It was August of 1993. I don't know if that restaurant is still there but I will never forget it!

I have lived here for over 35 yrs and been visiting since the 60s. I have been into 4 houses on that part of Marine St. All beautiful. But I never saw this one until today. I pass it all the time. Thank you so much.

Beautiful video of this wonderful Historic Home in StAugustine, Fla. Marine Street I was blessed to enjoy a home built just a few doors down that was built in 1763. The home you are showing is amazing. My sister became good friends with the couple who owned and did most of the Renovations in late 90’s, early 2000. They traveled parts of Europe to bring back and use in restoration. They brought the stove back from Europe. They gave much love and labor to restore to period as best possible. They sold it to current owners about 20 years ago. Loved the view of neighboring homes. Brought back wonderful memories. Yes, I still hear the clip clop of the Horse and Buggy’s making their way down Marine St. THANKS so much for the memories Laine❤️ This home has been well loved and cared for. It would make a wonderful home to make new memories in. The view of the Bay so peaceful.
