Welcome to Glenfield, a fabulous historic home in Natchez, Mississippi. This gorgeous home retains all of its glorious original details, including its original paint scheme on the door and window surrounds, its amazing hand carved teak wood window cornices, and a myriad of family heirlooms and stories.
Join 4th generation owner Marjorie, who is a vibrant 93 years young, as she shares the stories that make her family home one of a kind. Glenfield is built on land given to the original owners through an 18th century land grant. King George III granted 500 acres to the Cannon family in 1774, and the property would grow to be 2000 acres. Today, 100 acres remain of the original grant, and on it sits this gorgeous Gothic Revival home.
The rear of the home was built in 1812, with the "modern" addition being added in 1845. In 1850 Glenfield received her third trendy update, when her modest Greek Revival lines were covered with the bargeboard and whimsy of the Gothic Revival style. This home remains one of a kind in the region, and is a must see on your next trip to Natchez.
Glenfield is currently open for Spring Pilgrimage, but is also open year round as a Bed and Breakast and tour home. Step back in time with a trip to Glenfield!

This home is so beautiful and lovingly cared for. Marjorie gave us a wonderful tour, full of knowledge, history and lovely stories of previous owners and her family. Her southern accent is just divine, and her grace so beautiful. Thank you, Marjorie, Kevin and Laine,.

I absolutely love this video...Margorie was absolutely delightful..To be a 4th generation home to her, was amazing. She was a great historian and her love for this home was so beautifully spoken in her very stately southern voice. The fact that some of the actual paint still on the walls, the teakwood cornices amazing. Mr. Cannon, loving the swans, he no doubt had on his lakes, painted such a lovely picture of his memories of Scotland. I could say more, but there is not enough space. From original quilts, to the artwork, the beds made from the Mississippi woods, and the stories behind them, this video is so special. I fell in love with Mrs. Matgorie, she made you feel right at home with her southern hospitality. Anyone who stays there is most blessed. THANK YOU "OUR RESTORATION NATION", for this unforgettable masterpiece video. Love you guys.....❤

I really enjoyed seeing the house and hearing about it's chaotic history. It's so fabulous to see families that care so much for a house and keeping it's history intact, instead of doing modern renovations. I bet the diary was an amazing read.

I am best friends with the owner’s (Mrs. Marjorie) oldest granddaughter. We are good childhood friends. I have spent many summers and holidays here visiting them in the home. Mrs. Marjorie is the sweetest woman you will ever meet and she has a lovely family! Glenfield is a very beautiful bed and breakfast and I always look forward to when I would visit and I hope to visit again sometime soon. I remember when Mrs. Marjorie let me and her oldest granddaughter, my friend, stay in the first bedroom shown in this video one night and it was so comforting. Lots of interesting history here. Definitely adore Glenfield very much ❤

Oh my goodness, I adore Marjorie. She has the southern say what you mean, blunt attitude. My grandmother and great grams would have been the same way. I love the Spanish influence and the sleeping porches. The house's history really speaks to you as you go through it. I perked up when she mentioned Adams as a leader in the skirmish (I'm an Adams) and I hope that we were on the Union side, but I sincerely doubt it. Too many generals in the Confederacy with our names: Coleman, Beatty, Sexton, Adams and Barnett. I loved the tour. Thank you!

You must do it during either the Spring or Fall Pilgrimages. This is when the private homes open their doors to the public, so you have many offerings. Outside of Pilgrimage, there are about 12 homes open year round. Two companies offer tickets to the homes; each home is affiliated with one of these ticketing agencies. Therefore, be sure to access both ticketing agencies when you do your search.

The day we toured Glenfield, Miss Marjorie was waiting for us on the front porch in her elegant yellow gown. She and Valerie were delightful hostesses, and Glenfield has a fascinating history. The past lives on in this home because it is very definitely haunted. We snapped many photos on our phones which included blue orbs of energy not apparent to the naked eye. Miss Marjorie confirmed that this is not an unusual occurrence. She was a delight! Valerie also shared tales of experiences she had had in the house that gave us shivers. A great tour and a very unique piece of Natchez history.
