Hi Stefan, nice Video and good work. I finished my IC751 today. At least one trimcap was faulty. For completeness I also changed the BFO Plastic Cap to a ceramic one. Now a full calibration is planned next shacktime. The Rig is still competitive imho.
I also noticed the manual error. Great job on a great radio. I had one with all the options and new ceramic trimmers were already in place. Nice to look at also.👍
I also had an IC-751A. Excellent device. There was one problem with it - the vacuum indicator stopped working. I found a couple of bad solders and everything works again. I made a new RAM board for him. And now I don’t have to worry about having a dead battery! I also made an analogue of the UX-14 interface module. And the transceiver now has CAT! Unfortunately, due to the Russian attack, I had to leave all the equipment there and save the family more than 1000 km from home.
Bonjour Stefan, j'ai le même problème avec le Ic 751, dans la partie PLL, mais en France il n'y a pas beaucoup de réparateur compétent. Hello Stefan, I have the same problem with the Ic 751, but in France there are not many competent repairer, thank you for this good video
Nice to have a relatively easy repair ocassionally. I just completed repair of an HP 3468A multimeter that needed a negative 15 volt regulator IC, capacitors, and a NVRAM battery plus calibration. Always satisfying to bring a piece of equipment back to life! Thank you for sharing this repair with us. Regards, David
In my experience, when repairing ICOM devices from the late 70s to 80s, you spend a lot of time looking for cold solder joints and particularly bad PCB through-holes ;-) But thank God everything can be repaired. Anyway, thank you very much for your nice video Stefan. 73 de Bernd DF7PI
The pitch difference with USB/LSB indicates a small asymmetry with the IF filters, very common and usually only noticeable with off signal broadband noise.
DL7MAJ STEFAN YOU ARE GOOD AT RESTORING VINTAGE SHORTWAVE RECEIVERS AND ALIGNMENT OF VINTAGE SHORTWAVE RECEIVERS AND RESTORING HAM TRANSCEIVERS MY FRIEND
I was brave enough to by them on a famous platform. The value doesn´t need to be spot on - some pf more are not critical and you´ll see if the setting range is not correct.
Sir, someone is selling the Japanese version ic 750a which is an untouched never been used New Old Stock as they say. How many years do you think it will still last? And in your honest opinion, do you think I should buy it? Thank you so much.
The connector has a lock, which can be unlocked (=lifted) by the two flaps on each side of the cable/connector. Don´t forget to lock the cable vice versa after the work; otherwise you´ll create a new problem over the ime...hi.
