17th Annual 2023 Summer FUN Coin Show 

That guy that sold you the Morgan collection definitely knew that coin was fake in my opinion.... He probably has several of them and puts them in the complete sets to mask the scam. Probably travels the country trying to pawn them off on pawn shops... You guys should have taken the 10,000 dollar offer in the beginning, then you would have made 1,000 dollars not knowing the coin was fake... Lessons learned here... Thanks for sharing and the genuine honesty you bring...

That 93s was a bummer but if you go back to my very first comment on the video when you bought them, i was truly convinced by the color that it was not good. I gave my newest opinion after watching this video. ✌️

Really interesting and terrific video of dealing at the FUN show. I had a bad feeling also about that Morgan collection but glad you guys were able to at least get most of your money back. Will you be reaching out to the who sold the collection to you? I remember you telling him you'd reach out if the coins turned out to be more a lot more valuable than 9K so I wonder now if he will even take your call knowing the key coin in the set he sold to you was fake. Beautiful array of Morgans you picked up! I just picked up a real nice 1898-S PCGS AU58 for $335 at auction last weekend.

That coin show looked like it could have been a good time up until the point you got the bad news. Really was hoping that was real for you guys, it’s a shame that people will take advantage of good guys like you and your father. You two will be rewarded for your kindness…

Dude you gonna buy BU dollars 1) get a greysheet so you will know wholesale value 2) look at PCGS pop so you can see how many have been graded in that condition 3) Don't tell dealers you are collecting, tell them you are buying for store stock especially if at shows where you have to pay sales tax as you would be exempt with your store.

You've inspired me to start a Morgan Dollar collection of my own, but I worry about all the fakes out there. If experts have a difficult time spotting the fakes, it's a big risk for the beginner. I'll start with the more common Morgans first. Thank you for your show!

Best of luck on the MS Morgan journey. I started a year ago collecting everything in Fine or better and I am down to the 1893-S remaining to get. It’s a fun set to put together but the last 10 coins are gonna cost you a fortune! Someone told me to start with the most expensive and fill in the rest later. I didn’t listen and now the most expensive keeps going higher and higher.

You don't have to give prize drawings to us your channel is so cool and interesting the content is always top notch and that coin show wow some serious coin dealers there alot of cash going across those tables

Just a suggestion on putting together your Morgan MS date/mint mark set. You saw that there were multiple coins available for the same date/mint mark and sometimes you passed on one because you already bought it from another dealer. Q. David Bowers writes "Take your time, and although you will be offered many it might be that one that is just right doesn't come along for many months or even more than a year."

Shoulda taken the offer of 10k

My son is a Senior Chief in the Navy. When he made CPO I asked him when the CPO was established and he told me 1893. I was going to try to give him an 1893 Morgan til I found out how much they are and how difficult they’re to come by. We ended up getting the 2.5oz Navy coin. Lol I like it. Unfortunately for me though I missed the 2.5oz USMC which I’m trying to get now. Enjoyed your video. 👍🏽

Been waiting on this one. Sucks about the 93. I could tell by his body language though. My highest grade is a 1882 cc ms64+. Love that coin. Bought it in the covid dip. People were selling everything that wasn't nailed down.

Maybe it's just karma. You didn't tell the truth to the lady who sold you the $1200 sterling silverware for $20. It sucks when someone is purpoefully dishonest with you, right? It is hard to feel sorry for you. We reap what we sew; its a universal truth.

Good follow up video. I think that guy who sold you the set def had questions about what he was selling. Maybe he didn't know for sure, but def wanted to get it off his own hands for sure.

The 1893 S has a known die crack in the T in Liberty. Every Authentic 93 S has that Die crack. Very valuable coin, lots of fakes out there. Also the counterfeit coins are 99.9 percent not made out of AG, 90 percent. Weights are also off, too light, too heavy from 26.7 grams. Reworked coins always show tool work under magnification.

Some advice: When actually collecting + trading... leave the Pawn Shop guy out in the truck. Because I just saw you try and beat old dude up over $10 at 24:30. Then just 3 minutes later Pawn shop dude shows up again to try and get $20 bucks off. That was the Pawn Shop persona. You want the kid persona and comradery of trading. You want to pay the full price because that places value on the coins. If you are constantly trying to whittle down the price you don't place a value on them of being coins, you only see dollars signs. I like your videos.

The Coin collector and coin enthusiasts take their time looking at every Coin individually, if they dont DO NOT SELL, Sometimes coin grading takes hours, if you believe you have something special do not make a deal or sell without research from the buyer... Dont get undercut people

That’s the reason I don’t deal with Morgan Dollars. I got an 1891 s passed on to me from my grandfather. They’re beautiful coins but too easy counterfeited. At least I know it’s real. OMG, those coin dealer cases….so much eye candy!! Wish the 93-S was real for you. Glad you decided to embark on the graded Morgan journey. It’s really fun to hold some of those slabs in your hands and look at mint state specimens of history.

Graded Morgans are great to add to any portfolio and I strongly recommend it.

You can get an 1882 CC MS64 for about $380. You overpaid for the MS62.

Should of some to the first guy who offered you 10k from the rip sometime it’s not worth taking the gamble to try to make more . With a offer like that it was better off but oh well .

I know nothing about coin collecting. But these people look like they are just having fun trading and buying. Also learned enough that it can be a dangerous game since they even make fake coins these days. The Chinese really are horrible dishonorable people.

I'm not a collector, I'm a stacker. The old bills, gold and silver certificates, as pretty and unique as they are, are still just gov't issued paper. Gold and silver are real.

They are faking so much stuff...takes fun out of collecting. I bought different collectibles but always kept purchases at low level and learned hobby area before spending plus buying in bulk is usually a buffer.

I wouldn't have bought any graded coin from coin show if I run a pawn shop. Submitting your own raw purchases to grading company will educate yourself far more than any text book and or google search provide.

Rodney is a nice guy and good dealer. Good luck on amassing your morgans in mint state. You will find out that a MS 93-s and several other of those are going to be extremely expensive. But one thing about what you are doing. People love the slabbed coins and always pay a premium for them because they have been "vetted" by the grading companies. But also be aware that there are fake coins in fake slabs out there now a days also so either buy from people you trust and they know the difference or become very familar with the holders so you can spot a fake.

Should of sold the Morgans to the first guy he made a living on screwing people over and karma is a bitch.

Hey guys. Every type of higher education comes with a bill for tuition. Two things I know; 1) that will not happen to you guys again, and 2) The guy who peddled that 93S to you will never darken your doorway again. Great episode and a great reminder to us all.
