This song although it’s a verse from the Bible psalms 137 it was put into song by a Jamaican Brent Dowe of the Melodonians beautiful song. Mr wicked man took us away into captivity. Tribute my ancestors of the Atlantic slave trade, true Israelites.
Amazing singing, Boney M took many unusual or tragic stories and made them into hit songs, like "Ma Baker", "Belfast", "Sunny", "Rasputin" go figure, they worked and make us dance and sing them
I first heard this song when the band Sublime did their rendition. It’s an acoustic version that I mean no I’ll will saying this but I think his (voice/version) sounds better. If this offends you, I apologize but listen to the Sublime remake song it’s beautiful!!! Edit: to be clear this is my favorite worship song… even this version was amazing
The original context of the song is about the destruction and pillaging of an entire people group. Why are they singing it as if its some hit pop song ? LOL
It is about Israelites getting punished by God for disobeying despite several warnings. The mood does bot towards sadness. It is more of regret to hope. After 70years of captivity they reture to Zion(Jeruslaem).
Coro muy bien organizado pero.... personalmente para mi está muy lejos de superar a las cuatro voces de Boney M. Soy José Antonio Rojas Madariaga; tengo 77 años; vivo en Tarija BOLIVIA Suramérica.
