At 6:02 Travis Hunter is the one that gets hit late. He was sent to the hospital for further evaluation because of this dirty cheap shot by the Rams’ defender, who should have been thrown out of the game in my opinion. Karma struck when that same Rams defender got juked out of his ankles when Colorado scored to tie it at the end of the 4th quarter. You are correct that pass interference can only occur when the ball is in the air. The reason they called pass interference is because Hunter was being interfered with while the ball was still in the air. Then there was a second flag for a late hit, which is also a penalty. If you listen again, the ref explains that there were two penalties on that play. Overall Colorado State played a pretty dirty game on the defensive side and as a result got a ton of penalties which wasn’t smart and ultimately cost them the game.
Colorado state for reference is not a good team, hell, even colorado wasnt a goos team until sanders took over this year. Colorado has never been known much for the football programs. Air Force Academy is the other college football team in colorado
