I'm thinking that the stepfather is the owner of the home/appartment. The mother don't have an option but to do what she's told. She has to keep a roof over herself and her other children (minor). She stated that she didn't want to put her mother's business out... It could be that she don't work and the support come from the stepfather.
It sounds to me like Louis is her pimp!! He has gotten her to believe that she NEEDS him and that he will protect her and take care of her. Because of her mental condition, she can't accept that he's taking advantage of her, using her, pimping her, and they are both living off her "Escort Services". But other people have already moved on and left the room by the time she comes up with an answer. That again - would make her feel Horrible, so she left so that she wouldn't have to deal with all of that... and boom - all that stress & pressure at home is instantly GONE. There are no expectations in the street - except HAVE SEX & GET MONEY... which makes her pimp happy - who then PRAISES her and tells her how good she did!! She will never break out of this on her own... she would need to go to a ((DEPROGRAMMING CAMP)) where they put her on a FORCED REGIMENT of activities, mental exercises, physical exercises, therapy, being paid for accomplishing chores, taught to manage a small bank account etc... It would have to all last for YEARS, and eventually her whole mentality would begin to shift into a higher gear. Obviously, none of this would ever happen... but that would be the only way to truly help her... dragged "kicking & screaming" to salvation & elevation.... like a child being taken to one of those boot camp farms by their parents; whether they wanna go or not.. ✌😔

In no way should her delays in answering the question discount the intergrity of her answers. She need the time to package the information so that she may share an intellectual answer. Lali is way more vocal on this than before so I believe it's possible for her to be running a con with luis, not to mention that it's so easy for her to just lie. Marcus.. there are certain things you do not understand about mental disorders and how they conflict with our style of upbringing in the black community.. your questions are from a logical and practical perspective because you are unable to understand psychosis and how a person with psychosis can be negatively affected by their family pressures. This young lady preferring to be homeless than live with her mother is testament to that and you asking her why over and over shows lack of understand of psychosis and the confusion it causes. It is important to be patient with children with psychosis and approach certain aspects with love not tough love.

I was born and bred in Gary, Indiana, pregnant and teen mom at 15, married at 16,trying to desperately escape the lesser of two evils, my mother and teen husband, I went into the United States Marine Corps right after high school, earned my bachelors and masters degrees, married/divorced raised two beautiful daughters, 32&47. I’ve been there and I’m doing better today, with support. When I came up, suggesting mental health care was considered insulting, but now I suggest it frequently, because it has been so helpful for me, once I found the right counselor. I didn’t trust the mental health system, either. I thought of it as a lot of people who don’t know about our lives, thinking they know more about it than we do. Anywhere you go, there will be people like that. Don’t subject yourself to that, but just see someone else if they don’t know, Lali! There are some real people in mental health. My counselor is in recovery from meth, so she’s not about to look at anyone cross-eyed. She knows the deal, helped me get and stay off drugs, get the right medication, find resources and process my abuse. I feel like a new person! I would love to see that happen for Lali!

Hi Marcus When my son went through his mental illness he didn’t want to be home. He told me he rather be homeless and that he didn’t want to add anymore stress on me and that he didn’t want to cause anymore hurt to me. I fought for my son and he’s still currently home now at the age 21, his mental health declined at 18 too, my son is healed he’s working and also in school to get his GED. I didn’t let the streets take over nor did I throw the towel in; it was a beast dealing with his mental health issues but I didn’t give up. If you’re weak minded it’ll be easy to give up. I pray for this young lady because I hear her and understand because my son thought like her. Someone need to fight for her.

@@realmajorx3698 I understand this. I was with a man who was older than me from the age of 15 all the way until 30. I had three daughters with him and he was very abusive. I was young and beautiful with so much life in me. I did well despite my situation but eventually it took a toll on me mentally. Looking back I wish I would have left sooner to protect myself from what happened. I am still working on healing and I’ve been out of the relationship 9 years.

As a victim of several forms of abuse in my past, I believe alot of her responses were coerced and/or rehearsed. I also think her mental health isnt as much of a concern as she thinks it is, her problem is standing next to her. She probably went to the mental health facility to get away from him but the abuse and manipulation brought her back to live with him on the streets. He paints the picture that he helps her but its all just mental manipulation. As a matter of fact I've noticed just from the few interviews that its mental,emotional, sexual and financial abuse. I pray that she gets the stregnth she needs and if its in her best interests,possibly go to her family. And I say that because alot of times abuse in relationships stem from family trauma. I believe you're wrong about her mental health not being a big concern. Her mental health seems to be the core reason she's homeless & continues to be on the streets. Making good choices is damn near impossible in the mental state she seems to be in. Considering that she was just in the hospital & released I would say she's never going to get the medical attention she truly needs. The mental health crisis in this country is very alarming & sad.

I am the father of three beautiful daughters and it beaks my heart heart to see this young lady deal with mental issues in that environment. It would break my heart knowing that one of mine daughters were homeless and suffering from mental issues and I couldn't do anything for her. I had a friend who had a daughter with mental issues who was very smart ( two bachelor degrees) and as a result she became homeless (by choice) and as a result died behind an abandoned building. He searched for her and even had the courts declare her unstable to make decisions for her own well-being. She died before we could catch up with her and get her in-patient help. I pray for this young lady and plead the blood of Jesus over her life.

Mental illness isn’t that simple and that’s why so many young people are out on the streets. Because people see the surface level and don’t understand that it’s complicated. Not a simple one and done, but people don’t have the range, intelligence or resources to actually support those with issues like this.
