Gotta love Watanabe's facial expression in that scene. I know it should show something like "That would be a worthy end", but it also looks like a simple, elated "Fuck yeah, let's do this."
This is Hans Zimmer at his finest, no words to describe on how epic and emotional the score during this entire final battle sounds, I think the music fits the scene perfectly like a glove, starting with that rousing goose bump feel when the battle is just about to start, and ending with that soft, peaceful, melancholy, and beautiful serene tone when Katsumoto dies and takes one last look at the pedals flying with the wind, and states that "they are all perfect". to me one of Hans Zimmer's more underrated soundtracks.
While heavily fictionalized, this is a tribute to a group of men who, rather than fade into obsolescence, chose instead to fight, and die, as they had lived. Would that all had the courage these men showed in their final moments
you concede it's heavily fictionalized then go on to play along with the fictionalization lol. the samurai fought for selfish reasons, they fought against the new world because they knew they'd be obsolete. they didn't fight for honor or anything like that. sure they fought to preserve their way of life- which was extremely corrupt. that's not to say there weren't any honorable samurai that upheld the merits of bushido. but for the most part samurai were as corrupt as any group of powerful people.

I would have laughed sooo hard if Ken Watanabe goes "THIS IS JAPAN!!!" and then charges...that would've been a massive mind blow considering this film is 2003.
The part starting at 6:20 is almost the same of the pearl harbor's soundtrack named "war", search for it if you want (I know it's the same composer, the great Hans Zimmer)

The Last charge is a reminder of the great Saigo Takamori and his band of warriors leading one Last charge against the Imperial army. Takamori had been one of the few responsible for overthrowing the Shogunate in the name of the Emperor but he lost his life when he tried to protect his customs and the customs of the Samurai
I mean the "Last Samurai" was Katsumoto, that is why Algren remained (alive) as a witness to him and why everyone kneeled to his end. ...it wasn't a mainstream belief that Algren was THE last samurai ... right?!
Damian stabs Michael and runs to the center of time. Sparrow attempts to help but is smacked out by Draco. Damian takes on the rest of the three as he pushes towards the center.
