As long as a faction has access to any decent offensive lore of magic (Fire, Light, Celestial, Vampire are ideal, pretty much anything with a vortex will work though), and a Melee hero that can survive for about 30 seconds of sustained combat (or if not, access to a life wizard to MAKE them survive that long), it can make a viable hero army. You just have to micro the wizards or get them on some sort of flying mount to keep them out of combat, and then wait for the entire army to cluster up around the melee heroes, and then drop a vortex or 2 in the middle and laugh as your wizards get 1000+ kills per cast. I had an empire Light wizard get 1800 kills with one Banishment in a battle against SFO chaos.

high elf heroes have some of the most broken traits in the campaign. Having a bunch of incendiary trait mages on dragons? Stupid damage, and crazy charge bonus. Or get a bunch of lore masters of hoeth with the resilient trait and they will never die, even against overwhelming odds. The dragon mage with incendiary trait though is probably more video friendly.

Literally every high elf hero makes a doomstack. They are all incredibly strong. 20 Loremasters of Hoeth is a nigh unkillable doomstack with the right traits. 20 Mages will always be overpowered, because of magic. And if you make it fire mages, they get access to freacking dragon mounts so they become incredibly good in melee as well suddenly. 20 Nobles is incredible in melee and very versatile depending on the mount you give each of them, as well as their traits. Handmaidens are the only ones I would not doomstack I guess, but even so, 20 Handmaidens with the right traits will beat almost any AI army 1v1, but they won't be good enough to beat multiple armies all on their own like the others could. High Elves are just too strong is the gist of it.
