got ambushed in tw:w2 years ago by a 30 stack against my single cold ones chariot unit with a lord and hit auto resolve because fuck that heroic victory it claimed over 3.5k rat souls

The devs didn't know that or didn't bother to balance it more like.

Warhammer 2 the Ratlings were EXTREMELY power, even better than their stats suggested, but yeah for 3 they kinda nerfed the hell out of all ranged units.

Warpfire throwers are meant to be your frontline. They directly counter melee infantry, they themselves have 70 armor base making them have something like 50% damage reduction as well as having that magic damage based flamethrower that completely bypasses armor and melee resistance. Its leadership debuff also makes them route, so if you combo warpfire throwers with ratling guns or warplock jezzails behind them they are a deadly combo.

Jezzails works even better, once they are Tier 9 and have full range you kill 3-4 Units at the start of the battle. Then its over in under 1 minute most of the time.

poison/Deathglobes are probably the most op unit skaven has imo. They can arc their shots over infantry and walls better than any other weapons team. they move faster than most weapons teams. They can actually scale walls, making them the best ranged unit during seiges. Just poison globes already have pretty similar dps to the warpfire thrower, with the deathglobes blowing everything out of the water with their dps outpput. Sheilds dont seem to be a big nuisance either, since the bombs explode and inflict a status regardless if they hit a shield or not. Same when they attack units on walls, their shots dont seem to be blocked as much as other ranged fire can be, AND since their status spreads to the entire squad if just one hits, its no question their value in seige battles. Theyre even upgraded to be anti-large, making them arguably one of skaven's best ranged unit against large opponents too. A full deathstack of deathglobes is one of the strongest armies in the game to have (i think) since they pretty much melt through everything that comes at them in virtually every situation you come across. I really have a hard time thinking how you could counter such a force without using a ridiculous amount of artillery or a dozen dragons. as for the other weapons teams, Warpfires are great because theyre cheap and expendable, but you cant seige for shit with them. They also are not going to stand up to shielded infantry mixed with monstrous infantry. And their range is quite miserable making armored piercing ranged units a pain to deal with. While Jezzails... Jezzails just kinda stink imo. Theyre great for their range, but not for much of anything else. Jezzails dont melt through infantry quite like the other weapons teams do. Theyre great for sniping ranged units and artillery, but a full stack of jezzails will quickly get trampled on by a simple horde of shielded infantry.

​@@janp5063yeah Jezzails absolutely wreck everything if you've got map positioning on your side & they're fully buffed. It's not even close.

I have actually done some deathglobe deathstacks before. Using a few engineers to buff, they just need a couple plague priests to spam out summons if the enemy closes in with fast units. The summons also help when being outranged, which is the only weakness in my experience.

Oh, surely you would need to do it as Cylostra or with a mod if you want a full ethereal army (I think Kemmler used to be ethereal in earlier editions so there's probably a mod for it). Bonus points for pulling off a outpost to somehow get the Green Knight or the lost Stag Knights for more ghostly goodness. Your life instantly becomes pain the moment you go anywhere near a Tzeentch faction though.

the actual question is vampire coast or vampire counts. Because as the coast, your lord and hero's are literally ghosts, and you also have ghost units obviously.
