@@rejects100that mortar's i think the same as primitive technology uses, a mix of wood ash fired at very high temperatures to change it chemically and sand, he used the same to make a brick home
when grouting it would be more wise to wet the surface to be grouted so the mortar bites into the joints. The newer mortar sometimes does not bite as hard and the mortar lays on top the dry surfaces and extends out...I've seen this done on many sites the best masons prime surfaces with water to blend the different reactions in to one cohesive wall...

I will comand you for the hard work. what you did is called random uncoursed rubble masonry. the lifetime of the construction depends mainly to the quality of the mortar, how well spaces are filled with the mortar and the use of the long stones for the proper load distribution, I will add to all these, the thickness of the wall, the proper consideration of the foundation soil, water infiltrations for the mortar degradation considerations and soil displacement and the building technique. There are masonry buildings dating back the Ancient Greek Empire or Roman Empire see one example the Temple of Jupiter (Baalbek/Lebanon) where you may find stones accurately dressed (original method of construction remains an archeological mystery) ranging from 500 to 1500 tons in weight and yes, they are still standing and will be standing long time from now on. you may find on the internet tips and tricks in making a fine durable living place with local building materials, because we would not like to see accidents happening again. take care!
It completely amazes me that this young man has any skin left on his hands! That mortar is very caustic and its very hard on the skin. I wish he could use gloves. But i understand that a man living in the conditions he is demonstrating would skip the plastic gloves. But i wonder about the mortar mix. It does seem odd that lime mortar would be that dark of a shade of gray? I have seen lime mortar many times. My father was a mason and i was his low cost labor you see. When He mixed mortar he used lime at times and he used Portland cement other times. There were times he used both lime and Portland cement in mortar. Of course he used commercial mortar mixes as well. I know the other components will make up part of the color of the mix. But lime mortar makes lighter gray maybe nearly white.Portland cement or mixes of lime and Portland cement make a darker gray. All said and done i enjoy and recommend his videos?

Came to watch a time lapse, finally proving that you did the work yourself, and not an off camera crew. Leaving very disappointed. If I wanted to watch a Hollywood movie I would watch tv/movies. Just be honest. I’ve been watching from the beginning, since before any structures. This last year has been very disappointingly obvious that you employ others to do the bulk of your work.
